August 29th, 2009--Eastern Magic...Let's Get it Started!

Hi,
Thanks for the Minnie and pirate night information. Are there any other special edition cruise stuffed animals? My dad is a big Jiminy Cricket fan, and I was wondering if there were any Jiminy or other animals.
Also, are there any 12 or 13 year old girls that will be on the cruise? I'm 13, so I was wondering.

Hi Katie
Welcome aboard pirate:
My daughter Lorena just turned 13 this past weekend we celebrated by going to Disneyland :cool1:
She is so excited about this cruise and can't wait to meet everyone.

Hi Katie, I'm Montana and I will be almost 13yrs old on the cruise. I am going into grade 8. I live just North of you in Ottawa Ontario and I go to Syracuse at least 3 times a year for dance competitions. You are soooooooo lucky to live in the same city as the Carousel Mall.

You'll find sailor Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Donald, Daisy, Chip and Dale on board. There's also a host of other characters but not in sailor outfits.

I haven't seen any Jiminy Cricket stuffed animals. However, there are two stores on board. Mickey's Mates has the kids stuff I told you about. Treasure Ketch (right across the hall) has more expensive items for adults. I do rember seeing Jiminy Cricket statues there among other characters over there.

We may want to tag along with someone. I haven't booked any excursions, but would like to get off the boat and do something. I'm just nervous to go out alone with my kids.

Jan,

You can tag along with us! The more the merrier! We're teaming up with Mojodisney and her family in WDW the week before, then cruising together. I like going with multiple families ashore. You get better prices on cab rides and there's safety in numbers. Plus it's a blast to share the memories.

In St. Marteen were only going across the bay (into the main part of town) to shop then hit the beach. In St. Thomas we're going to Meghan's Bay or Saphire Beach. We haven't decided yet.

Hi y'all,
We're the Schumacher Family from Syracuse, New York.
I'm Katie and I'm 13 years old. I will be traveling with my dad, John, and my mom, Sue.
We are so excited for our first Disney Cruise.
Do any of you know if there are any special Minnie Mouse stuffed animals available only on the cruise? I collect stuffed Minnies.pirate:Any ideas for pirate night and cabin door decorations?
:rotfl2::goodvibes

Hi Katie and welcome to you and your family. As far as decorating your door, there is a creative disign board that has lots of disigns you can use for your door. All you have to get is some magnetic paper to print them out on. Some people do print them on cardstock then attach a magnet to the back, personally I like the magnetic paper. The people on that board are wonderful, and if you ask, they will customize their disigns for you, then all you have to do is print them out. They sell the magnetic paper at most Walmarts and Staples, although we buy ours online as cheaper that way. The last cruise, we had many people stopping by to see our cabin door, we go a little overboard with the magnets! There are 2-12 yo's and 3-13 yo girls within our group, and a few 13yo boys. I see Montana has already said hi, and Lorena's mom, so you should have plenty of company your age!

I have been looking for a good bag for a while. I might have to splurge on the baggallini! lol Real nice! I now have to go and find out what a wristlet is, lol.

We're still weeks away, but I couldn't help myself. DD and I started "laying out" cruise outfits this morning!

I started doing the same thing with my DD a few days ago which only made us realize that we need to do some more shopping :rotfl2:

I've started really small (although I am tempted to just pack, lol). I put all the hanging items in the same part of my closet. Also wrote out everything i need to pack. I realized today that out the 6 weekends left before I leave, 3 of those I am either away or have company, so not that much more time, glad I started already! lol Also started sewing the FE today. Still havent figure out what to do with gifts though.

Hi,
Thanks for all of the replies. If you're looking for a good teen Disney book for the cruise, I would recommend Dream Factory It is about the people that play the characters and also their social life. It is more for teens.

Thanks so much Michele! Once the kids know about the trip, I'll get their vote & we'll probably join you!!

Sounds Good!

We've done this route before, so we're "old" pros!

How are you keeping a cruise from your kids is beyond me! Every night at dinner we have a countdown and talk about what I learned that day on the DIS.

Jan,

I should have asked you, I'm sure it read it by now, but how old are your kids?

I have a 7 year old daughter, so does Mojodisney. They're both really good kids!

Oh great! My daughter is 8, so she'll be so excited to have other girls her age. My sons are 13 and 11.

I'll be happy to tag along with old pro's. We've sailed DCL before, but not Eastern Caribbean, so I'm an EC newbie. LOL!

It really is killing me to keep it from them. I keep catching myself almost spilling it. I have someone mailing a postcard from Castaway Cay in a couple of weeks, so it won't be long and I'll be able to talk to them about it. I can't wait to see their faces. They've been begging to do DCL again.

Try keeping the cruise from 2 soon to be Sweet 16 yr olds. In the beginning I found myself slipping and referring to the cruise when I spoke of the vacation. I slipped about 4-5 times and each time I slipped I just said you know every time we vacation with Disney it is either a cruise or land and I really wished we were back in the Med from two yrs ago but we will have to wait two more yrs when the new ships are out.

It is so killing me to not mention it to them. When the girls are out is when my husband and I can discuss trip plans. I'm trying to figure out how to pack the suitcases with FE, Surprise gifts for the girls, and all the rest of our clothes without them seeing it. It will be worth it in the end when they do their scavenger hunt the morning we depart Grand Floridian. All the clues have some reference to the cruise, beach, dining on board, etc. I can't wait to see their faces in the end. :goodvibes

I have been looking for a good bag for a while. I might have to splurge on the baggallini! lol Real nice! I now have to go and find out what a wristlet is, lol.

A wristlet is a little purse that doesn't hold much:rotfl2: and hangs on your wrist, ie wristlet. The one I have is from Hobo, it is leather and red (one of my favorite colors).

packing?:confused3 Haven't even started. I did buy a couple of pairs of shorts today and preordered some tank tops that I can use on the trip. and we bought DD a Tinkerbelle shirt for her birthday, end of month (at Nordy's anniversary presale) But as for packing not even. I have 2 business trips before our cruise so I have to concentrate on packing for those first. But then again DH knows that I can pack us up in an hour, have done it many times:rolleyes1

RJ,

Umm, the tram takes about 1/2 hour! I know a couple of families are going to the beach in St. Thomas. We're going to Meghan's Bay with another dis family.

In St. Marteen shopping and beach!

Doing the Eastern is very beach friendly.

Want to tag along?
That'll be Great!! We would Love to tag along ... would we need to reserve megans bay thru DCL or would we go on our own?? Did you say Shopping .... Music to My Ears!!!

RJ

Hi,
Where is everyone staying before/after the cruise? My family is staying at the Wilderness Lodge.
Also, for the 13 year-old girls, which kids club will you be in- the 8-12, or the 13-17?
