August 28, 2004 "LOST AT SEA" Cruise

Bobby we will be arriving at the Radisson on Friday around noon to lounge around the pool for the day.

I have a 6 year old son and a 9 year old daughter so hopefully our kids can meet and then have a familiar face in the kids club.

Ginny

Joanna, thanks for asking about Hawaii - we had a great time. The weather was perfect (low to mid 80's, low humidty, nice breeze), the resorts were beautiful, and the kids really enjoyed it.

My MIL and FIL were along to help with the kids as we had to spend a good chunk of time at a business convention. I was worried they would drive me crazy but it wasn't too bad. I tried to do a lot of preplanning for them and gave MIL all kinds of info and recommendations but they were hesitant to plan too much. All I could do is shake my head when MIL and FIL spent one afternoon they had fre without the kids driving 40 minutes each way down to Kona so MIL could get her film developed at Wal-Mart (one hour processing!) and have lunch at McDonald's! They must have gone to that Wal-Mart 3 times during the 10 days they were there. They flew back with the kids as we moved to Maui for the 2nd part of the convention. Their flight back didn't leave until 9pm and they didn't know what to do to kill time. So they took the kids to a movie and then the mall. I guess that got me the most upset because there was so much they could have done that last day - that's why we booked a late flight for them!

Overall, though, it was a great time. DW received an award during the convention and now we get to go to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl parade on New Years Eve. DW even gets to ride in a float! Best part is the kids are welcome this time - we don't have to hide them with MIL and FIL like in Hawaii.

Wow, you've all been busy talking the past few days. Gotta stop work from getting into the way of my private life. LOL

We're not doing any tours of any of the Islands so I haven't had to rush to get anything booked. You'll find me laying out on deck when we're in port, sipping a cold drink with my pile of books to read.

Jason, I got tha matrix to open up from work. That's great, thanks so much for all that work.

Hope everyone that was felling poor is better now. Gotta stay healthy, we're almost to the finish line!

Hope everyone enjoys their 4th of July. We usually go away, but we'll be home this year. We have tickets to all three Met/Yankee games at Shea!

Mark...Congratulations to your wife. Do you work together or did you just ge to go. That is one long convention. 10 days in Oahu and then to Maui. Whew, nice but long. Now you will have to tell us which float DW will be on, So we can watch.

LOL with the Walmart and McDonalds story.

We will be booking excursions but haven't done so yet. Maybe this weekend because we both have 3 days off WOO HOO

Ginny - are you driving down?

Bobby - can we just get a blank one? My husband doesn't want any personal info on it. Makes me a bit nervous too. (does that make us paranoid?)

We're probably not booking any official DCL excursions. Since all of our kids are considered 'adult', it adds up. Plus my husband is not a crazed planner as I am. I come up with a list of ideas and will present them to him when he decides he's ready to think about it.

Who's going to Disney before hand?

We'll be in Disney the week before; one bedroom villa @ the OKWest! Night before the cruise @ the Radisson.

Oh, I should have said we'll be at the Beach Club for two nights and then head down to Radisson Friday. Just upgraded with the August code.

As of right now we are flying down on the 23rd.. but I am seriosuly considering moving it back to the 21st and give us a couple extra days in the parks. We will be doing disney, seaworld and universal thru thursday and then heading over to the Radisson on friday...

I havent booked any tours yet but will probably consult with DH this weekend as to what he thinks..

Ginny

We are going on August 25. Now we are staying at Pop Century. Since we have 5 with us, we had Riverside . But after thinking of 5 of us in one room, we changed to PC to get 2 rooms.
Sister and daughter will stay at WDW on Wednesday and hubbie , son and I are driving to Daytona so he can see the race track. I am trying to down play WDW since the cruise is the main vacation.... but how can you down play the best place on EARTH?
Karel: My kids are considered adults too . I know what you mean by adding up. We are doing some moderate to low priced excurions.

Who is on DECK 6..... Want to know if anyone can walk us back to are room if we PARTY :drinking1 to much with Jason and Bobby LOL..
Good thing we have the :earsboy: MICKEY MAGNETS to help us find our rooms.
What times do the clubs close???

Have a great day everyone:grouphug:

Hey Karel..

I will make some Magnets with the Word DIS in the middle instead of the Names...

I could put your cabin number if you like..

Let me know

Bobby

We would be thrilled to have you put us on your page one list. do you want my info. on this board or how do you want me to send it to you? thanks, carolyn

Carolyn...You can tell me whatever you want me to put on page one. Names, DD or DS's ages and where you will be staying pre night if you wish.

Jason...Any new cruisers register on www.threecircles.net

I have to get one more box of green leis. I'm sure we will have plenty left over from the no shows at the DIS meet. But I'll give you the extras for your next cruise, so you can give them out. Even if everyone showed there will be approx 20 leftover, and guess what, They're yours as I'm not taking them home LOL

Have 4 days off for the 4th of July holiday, let the fun begin

Joanna

Hi everyone!

Joanna and Bobby....Thanks again for being so generous with both the magnets and leis!

Mark.. congrats to your DW on the award! I couldn't stop laughing about the Walmart and McDonalds story! Sounds like my aunts- can't live without Walmart!! :rotfl:

Jason... we are going on the Aquaboat and Snorkel in Grand Cayman. From what I have heard there are not too many boats available so if you and Travis are seriously considering it you better book fast! The person who replied to us about it said there was only about 4 boats and that they went about 30mph. Sounds like some fun and something different so we are looking forward to it! :)

Looking forward to this weekend - Pool party, barbeque and FIREWORKS!!! Everyone enjoy!

Melanie

Melanie...Living in Florida, every weekend should be a pool party weekend. When I move to Florida Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner will be a pool party.

Hello Everyone..

Cant wait for the Weekend...I need 3 days Off..

Jason, Travis, Doreen, and everyone Else...Looking forward to having drinks and stumbling back to our rooms...Who says Sleeping out under the stars on deck 4 is all that bad..hahahahaha:bounce: :Pinkbounc

We need to find a stateroom from a DIS member closest to the Bars, and crash there....:wave2:

I have a stupid question...Where did the Lime Green Mickey or for that fact Lime green come into play for the DIS Meets..

Just curious..

Bobby

Way back in the early days of the DIS, 97? 98? they were talking about how to recognize each other in the parks. somehow, and I don't remember how, they decided on Lime Green Ribbons and if you saw one, you'd know it was a DISer.

I have to tell you, I go to Disney close to 3 times a year and have NEVER seen one lime green ribbon.

Looking forward to seeing lots on the ship. :teeth:

Glad you enjoyed the "surprise" on the site Gail It is indeed an important day!

Now, that you're out of Lurkerdom, I have a feeling you'll hit 1000 posts before the cruise! ;)

Joanna--

Living in Florida has its ups and downs. I recall one Christmas day, when I was still living with my parents at home, we wanted to have a fire going. Just for the added holiday feel, I guess. Anyway, we ended up having to run the AC to counter the fire! :teeth:

Bobby--

We will all have to get together at some point during the cruise and have a nice little sit-down meet (with drinks)! :) Thankfully, as Doreen mentioned, your Mickey Magnets will guide us back to our cabins. :p

Melanie--

I'll have to give DCL a call to find out if there is still space on the Aquaboats tour. It does sound like fun although I have to warn you I've never driven a boat before!
