August 27, 2006 4 night Wonder

Got our tickets Monday and filled all the online forms out. It definately feels real now :thumbsup2 . The Promenade Lounge at 3pm sounds like the perfect plan! We'll try for the Minnie meet too ;) . We'll be wearing our pins and leis all day!

I'll have to get the hubby to post a pic. He's the computer geek in our family :badpc: . Although, I can't think of the last time all 5 of us were in a picture together? Christmas? Man, I guess its time for a vacation :rotfl:

Hello everyone,

DH,DW,DD6,and DD3. We are doing the seven day land and sea package. We will be on the Wonder 8-27-06 through 8-30-06. hope to meet some more families before hand.

DisneyDad,
Welcome! Glad to have you aboard! Have you cruised before?

Hobbitmama,
Saw you on the New Threat Level thread. Congrats on not getting involved in all the lowlife political crap. They were getting pretty mean :guilty:

:artist: :artist: going to make my door sign now :cheer2: w :cheer2: wish me some creative luck!

Welcome DisneyDadx2 !!
The more the merrier!! :cool1:

We are getting close now !!!

It looks like our DISmeet will be 3:00 pm in the Promenade Lounge and wear aqua blue leis if you want to get recognized!!

Watch out for the main DCL board. There have been an unusally high number of nasty postings lately. Much better to ignore a comment or respond with a nice post that shows you are ignoring them. I agree with you Newbiecruiser, that thread was getting out of control mean

I think I'll try this weekend to get my door sign done. DS has promised to help me :teeth:
Maybe we'll try to post a picture too. Great Picture Gichicdoc :thumbsup2

Well, thanks! I never get involved in these things online.

Good luck with your door sign. I did mine and laminated it already. I would post it but don't know how to do that.

Hey Disney Dad, :wave2: I have DD5 and DS7. Will your kids be in the clubs? We are doing the land/sea as well. We arrive at the Poly on the 24th and we can't wait. We are surprising the kids. They have no idea!!! :ssst:

Kinda worried about that no liquids on carry-on thing :worried:
How am I supposed to get my contact lens solution, perfume, etc. to the ship?
I never pack those things in my luggage for fear of them breaking and destroying all of my other things.

Anyway, a third welcome to Disney Dad x 2. Please do join us at the 3:00 meeting and look for a smaller group by the Goofy pool earlier in the day.

Laurie (Mrs.Scooby), we got our T-shirts yesterday. You were right on the size thing-- I was so glad I had listened to your advice. I think they will fit pretty well and wow! do those colors look nice together :laundy:

Did our cruise documents on line. My understanding is that the only thing we need to bring with us to port is our ID and the cruise contract which was included in our final document package. Can anyone else confirm my take on this detail ? :confused3

You will need a picture ID with a birth certificate or a passport. You will also need your Online Check-In Signature Form (downloaded from online) and your Bahama Immigration Forms that came with your tickets. I believe that's all you need.

We hope to meet everyone on board. We are travelling with four other families (21 people all together including 12 children - 6 girls and 6 boys).

Ahoy Mates!!

Hey, Hobbitmomma, me,dw,dd,s will try to make it to both get togethers. Our last dcl cruise was in 2004 and we didnt depart until 9pm due to weather after driving to fort lauderdale to board. We missed a day (was compensated) but we never went to c.c.So we are exited about seeing it this time. The PIRATE party pirate: is new also even though the girls faver princesses over bloody old pirates, it looks like a blast. :rotfl: .we are driving from wdw to the the ship, since the shuttle launch is the same day anyone think the Disney bus would be any quicker? At least that way we wouldnt need to search for a parking space or get left if we are stuck in traffic. :cool1: We are staying at the Caribean Beach resort at wdw the 24th - 27.

Can you walk around the ship barefoot? I mean like to the pool and back to your room :sunny:

(did this question just trump Bill's grilling question? )

Pack your liquids in freezer bags and put them in the center of your bags or inside shoes if they will fit-that always works for me :thumbsup2

I was glad someone warned me about those shirt sizes too ! Only DS12 is wearing one too big and he prefers it that way anyway.

I have to shop for school clothes for DS. He starts 7th grade in September- new school and none of his friends are going to the same school. Of course he won't admit he's worried. My question is what are 7th grade boys wearing these days? He has no interest in clothes, he wears what I buy him as long as it fits. Any suggestions :confused3

BTW
Donald & Daisy Duck is totally right about what docs you need :thumbsup2

The advantage to taking Disney transportation is that the ship won't leave without you :thumbsup2

However, if you don't mind getting up early, you can make it to the port faster if you drive. The parking is not a problem if you're there early too. I think they let you in around 10 am.

If I remember correctly, I think they prefer if you don't walk barefoot (from a safety standpoint maybe). The ship is very clean though and as long as it was just between the pool and the room you would be ok. I bought flip-flops for my kids last time and my DS got blisters from his. We were able to buy some kind of sandal for him to wear at CC.

Actually, not a bad question. Bill's grilling question beats everyone elses so far ;)

My son wears grey slacks, black shoes, white oxford shirt, tie, and sweater.
Wait until he gets a little older. We can't buy our son any clothes without him being there unless we want to return them.

Did someone say they wanted to walk barefoot on my grill?

still no tickets. Travel agent said they were sent on Wednesday. My son did get his new passport today though and I have now completed all the online stuff.

Gotta love private school :thumbsup2

Bill, You don't actually get tickets with the travel docs. The luggage tags are what are most important I've heard. They are pre-printed with your names and they can't take your luggage without them :confused3 . Now I've heard you can buy everything but underwear on the ship so maybe if you layer several pares you should be ok :thumbsup2

Disneydadx2.

Welcome to the group. Didn't see that you joined us til just now. No matter what I do on this site, I can't get email notifications when somebody there is a new post.

Mrs.Scooby,
Gotta love the private schools, except for the tuition part! If you lived in Philly you wouldn't send your child to public school either.

Even the public schools here adopted a dress code a couple years ago. Docker type pants and white golf shirts. Don't know if it went over well and is still going on or if they dropped it.

And alas still no travel docs.

Bill

Did I read that DisneyDadX2 is staying at the Beach Club before the cruise. We will be there too.
My DD(13) and DS(11) are older than your children, but the place is really great!
Maybe we will see you there.

Can't wait till our cruise and to meet everyone! :wave2:

Donald & Daisy Duck,
I just noticed that this is your third year in a row doing the Wonder.
Were the other times during August?
I've heard that the seas (particularly the gulf stream passage) can be more rough during this month and I wondered if you had any experience with that?
Not normally motion sick myself but on the first night of our last DCL trip, we all felt a little queezy :guilty:
Michelle

Do you simply add your tips to the KTTW card at the end of the cruise? Do you need cash for anything?

Sorry, I keep having these panicky moments when I realize I still dont know everything! We leave early Saturday :cool1:

Went the last two years on the Wonder in the same week in August. :cool1:
Both trips the sea was very calm, hoping it is the same this year. :firefight
