So I think I went nuts with the pirate garb but the kids are all in costume and Princess Dottie and I are both coming as pirate wenches.
We have these fabulous dresses we got off ebay complete with the waist cinchers. Thank God we live in this time cause the cinchers would have to go.

Yes, the magnet tape will work - the doors are metal. I printed my signs on magnetic paper last year, and I'm doing the same for this cruise.

Our family will be participating! But hopefully we won't go "overboard" on spending too much.

How about formal night? How many going all out with tuxes/gowns?

I am thinking about the pirate costumes. I may have finally found a website that has inespensive costumes, in our respective sizes for all 3 of us that are in stock.

We will definitely dress up for semi-formal and formal night. DH and DS-5 will wear suits, though, not tuxes. I already have a simple long gown for one night, and several cocktail dresses to choose from for the otehr night. We aren't getting anything new, though. However, from past crusies experiences- anything goes on dress up nights. Just do what is comfortable for you and your family!!

Did we determine a final meeting place and time??

where do you get magnetic paper or tape??

Magnetic tape can be found at Wal-Mart, Joann's or Michael's. It has one sticky side that will stick to paper or foam sheets. You can also get foam glue at any of these places. Have fun making your sign.

I've ordered magnetic paper from scrapbooking websites. Can't remember which one. It comes 8.5 x 11 and and one sticky side. Or you can get magnetic paper that goes through your printer if you are doing your sign on the computer.

For Pirate night, DD5 will probably dress up. DH and I will wear pirate t-shirts and hats/bandanas. For formal DD and I will wear nice dresses. No tuxes, but DH's suit is from when he was in his Bro's wedding, so it's very nice.

There is no stupid question You can get magnetic tape just about anywhere. Walmart, K-mart, Staples. Michael's, AC Moore. I just got magnetic paper at Staples. 4 sheets for 8.95 (I think). Now I just have to find time to make my sign.

Not sure what BF and I will be doing for pirate night (don't know if he will get into it?). I have a few "normal" clothes with a bit of tweaking and adding some props I could go as a piratess! No corsettes here! O NO!

For semi/formal nights he got a nice black suit. I got a $250 I would say cocktail dress for $30 ! It pays to be patient!!!! Just have to find the right shoes!

Are we getting REAL excited yet?

I was working on my sign today so I am really into it now
Princess Dottie and I got these costumes that have corsets...let me start by saying thank God we don't live in a society that still has corsets, after I laced this up, my chest was in my nose. Not that that doesn't have its own issues, but breathing is optional. I keep thinking of Gone With The Wind, the scene where they are lacing up the gowns and telling the girls breathe shallow.
I didn't have to buy anything else for the cruise so I am done and ready.
I got costumes for the boys for $20 off on ebay. They can use them again for Halloween.
On another subject.. Anyone checking out the new pirate musuem Pirate Soul in Key West?? I read several reviews of this and they say it is really nice.

I ordered the pirate costumes for all 3 of us last night! No corsets here...but my husband's has a big lacy jabot around his neck! I can't wait to see him in that! He picked it, though...so he is ok with it! He is a good sport about these things.

DD5 and DH are sooo excited about the pirate museum. The coupons from Shirley(Perfect Gift) have a 2-for-1, so I'm excited about saving money. We're doin Key West on our own - the trolley, getting on and off to see the sights and eat the Key Lime pie from the Blonde Giraffe, Pirate Museum and Butterfly Conservatory.


Also, if everyone is in agreement, 3pm by the pool sounds great. Mostly likely, DD will be in the pool anyway.

There was a link on these boards for keywest coups. BF and I are going to do the trolley tour (there was a 2 for 1) so we can get on/off at the stops. Can't wait to go to kermitt's!!! Key lime on a stick!!!

I surprised DD yesterday and took her to the costume store to get a pirate costume. She was so funny. With the costume on, she was practicing her pirate "looks" and saying "argh" in their mirror. My DF went with us. He almost fell off the chair in the store he was laughing so hard.

This is sooo much fun.

I know before our last cruise in Jan 2005, our group spent a lot of time watching the Duval Street webcam. We even made an apperance on it while we were there. After perhaps 1 too many margaritas at Margaritaville.

Just checking in. I didn't realize the cruise is only a month from today until I saw it posted here!

Sounds like a lot of you will be dressing up for pirate night. My husband keeps asking me if I've found costumes yet - I've seen a couple online, but not sure which ones to order. (I'm not good at decisions like that.)

Cindy B- I saw your post about the new Disney movie Invincible that comes out on 8/25. I hadn't heard about it, but we'll be looking forward to seeing it on the ship. My girls are actually waiting for Step Up (Touchstone) to come out on 8/11, but since they are dancers, they want to see it as soon as it comes out. Maybe that will also be playing on the ship.
