We booked the Random Wind sailing trip for St Maarten (indep. of Disney), but just for hubby, myself and our 14yr old son. DD doesn't like small boats or getting in the water with fish (aka snorkeling) so I figure she'll stay in the kids club on board that day. In St Thomas all we have so far is the teen Screamin Eagle boat tour booked for our son.
:yay:

What excursions have you planned for St. Maarten & St Thomas? Did you book through DCL or independent? Have to have a garage sale to pay for our excursions, now that I added my son (thus using up my extra spending money:eek:).

We have the Golden Eagle Catamaran in St Maaarteen, and then in St Thomas we have booked the Dolphin Discovery. I have read though that the Dolphin discovery on ST Thomas is not that good. Anyone here have any experience with it?
Received our Docs today.

We thought about it, but the Dolphin Discovery isn't actually in St. Thomas. My understanding is you have to take a ferry to Tortola. It seemed that at least half of the excursion was going back and forth from Tortola so we passed. I did some cursory research, I would look into it further just so you know in advance.

I looked at Random Wind when we were scheduled for the June cruise. They give GREAT rates if we charter the entire boat. If we can get 20 people the price goes way down. Anyone interested? :yay:

Is this a sail and snorkel, if so, we might look into it as well.

For St. Thomas, we have booked the Caribbean sea safari, snorkeling and beach tour through DCL. I haven't planned anything for St. Maarten yet, but I'm considering a Bernard's tour that includes a stop at Maho beach where the planes fly in right overhead. I think my kids and husband would love that! :)

I just called my travel agent, still plenty of room on the ship, I upgraded our cabin.

Please change our cabin number to 7586 for FE exchange.
Sounds like there might be a lot of upgrading at the port. We should figure out how/where to post room changes once we are on the ship, then we can check it before we hand out FE gifts.

Yes, probaby a good idea. There seems to be quite a bit available.

Is it worth trying to upgrade to concierge, from a 4A class of cabin? and what would the cost likely be?

No, I didn't think it was , it's a huge difference. I think it was a few thousand difference. You can test it out on the dis cruise website to see the price diff. We went up to 4c, the 4b was a connecting room. We were on the Magic last weekend and had an adjoining room for the first time and could hear the people in the next room.

I just checked, they have 9 available for concierge staterooms (not suites), tried to call to see what the difference would be but they're closed. I did have a question, if you paid Vaca Ins, Ground Trans and Taxes on the 1st stateroom, I wonder if you have to pay again on the upgrade? Vaca Ins looks like it would have to be the difference, since its slightly higher on upgrade... IF I could even swing it, I'm calling tomorrow, doesn't cost to ask :)

FYI ... I was just checking the DCL site and looked for 2 guests up to a family 5 and as of right now, I see three cat T (1 BR suites) and 8 Cat V (concierge family staterooms) available.

If these hold out, some folks may have opportunity to get a nice upgrade at port.

I also see they are offering guaranteed rooms still.

I hope this means the ship will be not so full.
