August 24th 2012 Cruise to the Bahamas!!!!

One of our cruise members has been diagnosed with cancer in the last week.... its been a stressful time for us but hopefully all will be well. The treatment schedule will be starting soon (we find out this week exactly what is happening with treatment) but I am hoping that we can still do the cruise around the radiation treatments... We could use a little magic in our lives right now.pixiedust:

So sorry to hear that... lots of pixie dust on the way pixiedust:

We got married last year at the Boardwalk and really had no plans to go away for our first anniversary but then we stumbled on this cruise that leaves on our actual anniversary. I've been on both the Wonder and Magic but it was so many years ago that I feel like such a DCL newbie! DH has only been on one cruise and that was for our honeymoon last year on the Carnival Legend. I was pretty worried about him since he tends to get some terrible motion sickness but in the end he was fine is now as addicted to cruising as I was after my first cruise! Granted, he slept A LOT on that cruise but at least he didn't get sick :rotfl:

We're booked in a verandah room but that's as much as we know right now. We don't even care where we are staying we are just so excited! Looking forward to getting know everyone :goodvibes

We are anniversary twins!!! :woohoo: DH was so sick on our honeymoon last year because of Hurricane Irene - we barely left the state room  He is usually ok with the patch, but it did nothing for him last year :sad2: We are crossing our fingers for calm waters this time around for sure!

Happy almost anniversary!!!
For our cruise last year we had a good stock of Bonine and he wore those little wristbands the whole time. Not sure if the wristbands did anything but he didn't get sick so they stayed on! The Bonine knocked him out so he had a very restful cruise :)

For this cruise I keep telling him that I really want to take advantage of the activities on the ship. His reply is always, "like sleeping?" So if you see someone wandering the ship all on their own, good chance it's me!

5 WEEKS UNTIL WE SAIL!! I can't believe its almost here. We booked so long ago. :cool1::banana::love::yay::dance3::):)

Hard to believe that everything is more or less done. The only thing left to do now is obsess about packing. oh, ya... and KENNY CHESNEY concert! WHOOP!

Curious about dress for dinner. Many cruises on other lines where I have taken a tux and suits and sport coats for dining. I'm sure a tux is not needed but is a coat and tie needed at any seatings on Disney?

It's a hotly debated topic.... Bottom line is that the only restaurant that a jacket is REQUIRED is Remi.

In general, the dress code is much more casual than most lines. I for one am not going to be bringing a jacket. I certainly won't dress like a slob... but I don't see the need to bring one.

Exciting news!!! :)
For our honeymoon cruise last year on Carnival, everything was available online for us to print on our own. Very convenient but missed the anticipation of getting everything delivered to us! So I'm super excited about getting it!!

I'm trying to remember from the last time I cruised on DCL...how were they delivered? Was it UPS/FedEx or regular mail? Not that it matters other than determining if I should be excited when someone knocks on my door for a delivery or if I should get excited when I go down to check my mailbox :)

Karin I usually work on Wednesday evenings. I would love to meet up one day before the cruise, maybe we can have a pre-cruise dis meet!!

We are going on the 8/24/12 Bahamas cruise - this is our first time cruising and we are bringing our 3 year old son. My sons favorite is Donald Duck, and he also likes Goofy and Mickey. I have two questions:

Are any of the "Meet the Characters" events an extra charge or are the included with the cruise?

Do they have any dining experiences with characters(and if so, are the an extra charge)?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

:welcome: aboard!!
There is no extra charge for any of the character meet and greets, on our cruise the will not be any character meals that I know of. In the navigator they will list times of the meet and greets.

Take the bonine at night. It is a 24 hour medication and he can sleep thru the worst of the sleepiness

That's a great idea! And actually, we sat with a great couple on our last morning for breakfast on the cruise and they suggested the same thing. So now I'm thinking that's the way to go!

32 days to go!!!! :)

My DH does the same thing. I have him start taking it two days before we sail!! He is very sensitive to motion and he has had no problem on the 2 cruises we have taken!!

We will definitely stop by before the cruise! :thumbsup2
So good to hear that they send out the documents by regular mail now. It used to FedEx and you have to sign, so it was a pain to either hunt them down on the next day or stay home all day while waiting for them. :sad2:

I cannot believe we are already in the "teens" for our summer vacation. In less than three weeks we will be in Key West! :woohoo:
