August 23-30, 2003 "Welcome Home Fellow Cruisers--Trip Report Completed"

Kyle and Chris,

I just wanted you guys to know that I copied your notes and e-mailed them to Eddie's mom so she can show Eddie. Eddie's mom told me that she was having trouble getting on the DISboards, if Eddie's mom or Eddie sends me a reply back, I will post it here for you guys.

Thanks Andy, kyle loves to write and get e-mail.... and has really been wanting to hear from Chris and Eddie. i'll let him know, and read the response from Chris.

Lisa :D

Btw, 10 of us had brunch today at Palos and got the private room. You would think we've known each other for years they way we all got along. There is something about people who love Disney that transends all socialogical, and geographical barriers.

I just read the above post on the current July 5 Western Cruise. Got me thinkin' (like I need anything more to think about), would there be an interest in getting a group together for Brunch at Palo on the Monday of our cruise??? I think a sea day would be a good day to have something like this. Let me know what you think. Maybe we can find out how this group went about getting a private room at Palo for their brunch.

We wanted to do the Brunch as well... And, if we can do the private room, all the better!

good idea, Andy.

Lisa

So far is seems like we have 9 or 10 people interested in the brunch on Monday. I've also sent out a few e-mails for those who were having trouble getting on the boards.
As soon as I can find out some more information, I will make a post and let everyone know the details. Let's see, this will make DISmeet #3.

I'll be seeing "some" of you DIS'ers more in one week, than I see "some" of my family back home, in a year. LOL!!!

Hi All,

I read this note on the July 5th thread, gometros(Sandy) is reporting live from that cruise. Looks like it will have to be the first person that gets to Palo, will have to make a reservation for our group. I'm am posting Sandy's reply below for everyone to read. Once I get a final count of who is truly interested, I will post the number, and names.

As far as the private room goes, eye R.N. made the reservation for us. She was first on line to board and therefore first at Palos. I'm not sure if she had to ask for the room or they gave it to her when she explained what we were doing. I'll have to ask her and get back to you on that.

Truer words have never been spoken, LOL!!!

Just back from a week's camping at Jellystone in Ashland, NH. It was hot as blazes and the pools were way overcrowded but it was fun! Anyway I saw you all were booking your excursions and some were even getting sold out so I jumped on the phone and booked the Under Two Flags in St. Maarten, the Beach Day in St. Thomas and float rentals at Castaway Cay. I wanted to do the tramway but DH was not too keen on that idea. As you can tell by our excursions we are more interested in relaxing than trying anything daring.....like PARASAILING? Oh my I give anybody credit for being brave enough for that! I bet it's a blast but I'm a chicken.

We are unsure about the brunch at Palo. We are planning on a dinner there one night but were not considering having brunch there. Don't want to leave anyone hanging so I guess we will just count ourselves out of that meet. Sounds like fun though!

We are actually leaving for Florida in only 36 days because we are driving, visiting family north of Orlando, staying at the Boardwalk Villas and then heading to the Raddison the night before the cruise! We are going to need that cruise just to rest!!!

I can hardly wait

Just touching base before leaving for Calif........Home a couple of weeks before CRUISE TIME!.....still haven't found anyone reserved for the St. Maarten - Anguilla Dolphin & Sting Ray Excursion...........I know we're not alone on this because it's SOLD OUT - just wondering if any Dis Board members are going??? - Regards, Renee

O.K., this is what I have learned so far, do we have anyone in our group that has Concierge Service, if so, that that person can reserve us a spot at Palo for brunch.

I will also need to know, the names of the people attending the brunch and their stateroom number. I know some won't get their stateroom number until their docs come in, but if I could have the names I can get a more formal list together.

So far those who have responded with an interest are:

Mindy (Pickles61) need party size

Trish (Tricia T) party of 3

Ann Marie (aa4mom) need party size

Lisa (lisak1) need party size

Andy (Verandah Man) party of 4 (cabins 2554 and 2556)

If you like to email your information please send it to apwalters55@comcast.net

I have started a thread asking questions about the brunch. You can view the thread by clicking on this link:

I have received a few replies, one person said that the private room can get very warm, would you rather opt for the main dining room and get a few tables together? Also, what time are we looking for to make our reservation(s)?

45 Days Until We Sail!!!

I just received the note below from a fellow DIS'ers who had a large DIS gathering (30 people) on their cruise. All we need to do is have one person for each table make a reservation for that table. If we need 3 tables, then three of us would need to be at Palo to make a reservation for the three tables. I am planning (remember, I'm traveling with 5, count 'em 5 women) on getting to the terminal early. The way I read it, my wife, my mother, and I could make reservations for the three tables, then we could call your cabin and give you the time to meet at Palo on Monday. How does everyone feel about trying to get 11:00am time scheduled? Let me know.

Only ONE person per table is needed to make the reservations. While we had about half our group at the Radisson on Friday, the other half were not going to be getting to the ship until much later. Their reservations were made before they even got on board! So you can make one reservation, your wife can make another and get one other person to do the 3rd!
Just be sure to have the first and last names as well as cabin number.
Once the reservations are made the host or hostess called the cabins at his/her table, and left a message saying the reservations were made and what time to arrive at Palo.
This way the late arrivals knew the reservations were made!

Hi Andy,

We are Michael and Tricia Toro, cabin 5008, and my mother, Roxanne Funke, cabin 5010. Any time Sunday or Monday would be fine with us.

After reading the post about the private room being uncomfortable, I am fine with a few tables near each other.

This is going to be so much fun. I made a few vacation plans today...got my rental car for 8/22 - 9/1 (we are doing Disney for three days at Ft. Wilderness Cabins after the cruise), I made a few ressies for the Disney stay, and even packed a suitcase of some of my new cruise clothes and some odds and ends that I picked up for the trip and don't want to lose track of.

If anyone needs some alien green mickey swatches from Home Depot, I have extra. I haven't made our name tags yet, but I know I grabbed a stack. I bought 6 over the door shoe hangers for both our shoes and toiletries at our local dollar store, and also picked up some toiletries and new sunglasses and water shoes for the kids.

We decided not to book any excursions, other than the snorkel, bike and float package at CC. We will do the tram in St. Thomas and check out the bird show, and possibly just stroll around St. Martaan. I am toying with the idea of doing Coral World in St. Thomas, but would rather get a massage than spend all of the $$ on the six of us going there. My husband also reminded me of some bad tours that we booked on our honeymoon 12 years ago. We took a cruise to the Mexican Riviera and hated most of the excursions we did. So he pretty much discouraged me.

I would like to try parasailing, however and my husband would too, so I may check to see if there have been any cancellations as we get closer.

I guess this post is too long, but I am getting so excited......

Trish

Andy,

I will be at the port early too, and can certainly go with you to Palo if needed. My husband and I were going to drop Mom and the kids off at the buffet and split to make our Palo and spa ressies, so one of us could go with you. We'll talk more Friday night at the Radisson.

O.K., that would be great!!! We have extra green Mickey thingy's also. I grabbed another handful the other day at Home Depot when I was buying my new electric lawn mower. No more pulling ropes to get it started for me. LOL!!!

Add me to the cruise list!! We will be on with you! :bounce: Hope to see some of you there!
