August 2016 Car Rental Rate watch

Is there an October thread up and running yet? I tried doing a search and only pulled this thread somehow--could definitely be "user error" but if someone could link the October/November thread I would greatly appreciate it!

I just bumped it back up for you. You should be able to find it now.

Leave tomorrow, so I'm done watching.....(ok I'll take a peek later). Ended up with $304 with National Executive Aisle (guaranteed full size or larger) for 9 days. The current rate is $140 more right now. I could've taken Alamo for a full size car for $255, but stayed with National to get the credits for both my executive status next year and another free day coupon. Last year we had National for $200 for 7 nights, exact same week.

On a different note, my October rental for 16 days (15-31) has gone through the roof. I have $522 which was booked on the now ended sunpromo code and 2 free days coupons. I thought that was very high, but now it doesn't look too bad.

Well.....have a FANTASTIC TIME !!!! It's been fun watching rates with you. Even though the price is a little higher than you are used to, I am sure you are glad you are not paying $600 or $700!!! There are some people who didn't book anything and took for granted rates would drop. Now they are stuck or looking for other options. Thank goodness you and many of us KNEW to book SOMETHING we could live with, rather than wait. So pay your $304 and enjoy your vacation. Those rates could have been over $600 EASY !!!! Have a GREAT TIME !!!! :cool1:

Well I am 11 days out and still hoping for a MIRACLE or a RATE DROP!! Yes, I can live with my current rate $325 midsize for 15 days (8/12-8/27). Yes I would LOVE a full-size for the same price or cheaper but I don't think its going to happen. :rotfl:

Thanks, and have to say, that is a good rate for 15 days! Enjoy and hope the rates start dropping soon!

I haven't left yet, but was on the Alamo site and saw a new coupon for $35 listed. It has a ton of restrictions, but thought I would pass it on: It's $35 off a rental that is $185 or more.....I thought someone might be able to use it.
  • All vehicle classes
  • Participating locations in the US
  • Rentals between 8/18-9/10
  • 5 day minimum and 11 day maximum

I noticed Dollar was down this afternoon looking at carrentalsavers. But I really prefer to stick with Alamo. Hoping Alamo will follow their lead.

*9 more days!*

Yes...I prefer Alamo too for various reasons. One most important reason is the FREE additional driver with the BJs or Costco Contract ID. At the cost of $10/day plus tax that could easily tack on an additional $200 to my 15 day rental......I am pleading for the car rental gods to show us some mercy!!!:laughing::laughing:
:worship:

Thanks for sharing !!! Even down to your last few hours you are still looking out for others...bless your heart !!! Unfortunately my rental is beyond 11 days so it didn't work for me. But i do appreciate your consideration. Have a FANTASTIC trip!! :thumbsup2

The code is AD2823SXB... Thank you!!
wish it fit my dates

Now my midsize quote has hit over $700....$728!! :scared1: I think its time to give up !!! :sad2:
Yes, I'm with you! I'll just have to be happy with our $406. Today it's $731 for the same 2 weeks. >:(
Maybe that means lower crowds so they have to charge more for the rentals. :joker:

Tired of checking
Priceline'd mid size for 4 days beginning 8/13 @ $108 total:drive:

Shouldn't be a huge line @ terminal to pick up around 10 pm - famous last words:P

Posting bidding scenario below jik anyone else looking

Bid $13 on midsize

Rejected, suggested $18

Re-bid $15, accepted:yay:

Hertz

I'm good paying $27 a day as it's less than I'd be paying uber when @ WDW and I get to skip ME

Good deal !!

It looks like I am not missing out on much if I had used priceline......My current booking with Alamo totals $325...so for 15 days that is $21.70/day. I am good with that too. However, I am always going to wish for something less. :joker:

$21 a day is pretty great right now. What dates? I was seeing $40 a day. ugh, not doing it.

That is a decent rate for two week rental most times of the year.

I can't say I've rented a car in MCO in August in the past but have in other summer months and always thought those rates were reasonable.

You'd think they'd be discounting things heavily. who in their right mind braves the heat/humidity & ventures to Disney mid August...apparantly, a lot of people lol.

I have a 2 week res for an Alamo standard @ $227 starting 10/2 that I booked in May

Have found that anything over a week, the 2nd tends to lower the overall rate for # of days.

Had thought it would be a placeholder type until I found a better rate - not if this pricing trend holds.

Travelocity was having a sale yesterday. Managed to get a car (via Dollar) from 8/16-8/22 for $165 total (pick up/drop off at MCO).
Which is so much better than the $300 I have found elsewhere.

Hope others have some luck getting their rates down!
