August 2016 Car Rental Rate watch

Woohoo mine went down another $72 today. It went down to $217 for a full size. :dogdance:

Budget dropped a bunch for me this morning. I booked an intermediate suv for 192, about $10 more than my standard car. Need to decide which one will better accommodate the kiddos and our car seats. Hopefully, things will keep moving down.

I've been trying to decide whether to rent or not (the last few trips we have) but the prices have been way too high for me (when compared to my recent trip of a year ago)... that said, Budget has dropped significantly today (or at least since I checked a couple of days ago) full size for 8 days at 197 (Alamo was 259, which is 30 more than we paid for 9 days last year). This seems like a decent price.

Sooooo... what are peoples thought's on Budget? I've only ever used Alamo in Orlando. Any feed-back would be appreciated... thanks.

I used Budget last trip with no problems. Sometimes you have to be a little firm about the upsell at the counter, but I feel like that's all of the companies.

Doesn't budge have a bypass the counter option in "Fast break". I currently have two reservations for a 10 day rental TPA - MCO. One reservation is Budget at $210 full size, the other is $250 for alamo for full size. Both I believe allow me to bypass the counter.

Yep, you can bypass the counter with Fastbreak but you still have to go to a booth in the garage. We didn't mind them, but double check your price, they tried to charge us more than what my print out had. They fixed it but if I hadn't caught it they might not have later.

So long story short, I just used another price drop with Alamo, free upgrade for a Standard Size from TPA for one week (11th-18th) with gas option (reduces my stress on the ride to the airport) for $213. Fuel charge was 31.15.

I love driving from Tampa to Orlando. The TPA airport is so easy to maneuver and so easy to get your car! Have used Budget and Alamo and both have been great. We often pickup in TPA and drop off in MCO if we decide to fly out of MCO instead. Lots of times I can get better prices that way. Last year at Spring Break we had a standard car for literally 7.95 a day from National and for 5 nights. Total $75.00 picking up in TPA and dropping off in MCO. Don't think Ill ever beat that deal.

Enjoy your trip! If anyone is staying in Tampa for the night before heading to Disney there is a great restaurant called Leroy Selmans close to the airport. We fly into Tampa just to go there! Haha!

I havent been able to meet or beat my current rate yet. I have 4 more days.....If nothing happens I can live with what I have. I am hoping for rates to drop a little more so I can get a full size for the same price or a little higher.....I do see I can book a full size using BJs codes 7014696 and the $25 off AD3868JST and get my rate to $389 which is about $60 more than my current rate $325 for midsize....i am considering it. BJs also offers free additional driver which is important. But Id rather pay less than $389 !! We will see....I will keep trying.

what are your dates and times? Some times the pickup time really makes a difference?

My dates and times I am using is 8/12/16 pickup at 8pm. Returning 8/27 at 8am. I should play with my Return date since my flight leaves at 830am I am sure the car return time will be around 630am. Thanks for reminding me !!! ::yes::

Just used the $25 off coupon (AD3868JST), Alamo insiders code (AS1) and AP contract (15000) and got my rate for a full size down to $281 for two weeks.

Are you trying the AS1 Product Code?

My rate is down to the low I have it booked with. Check in 8/18. I am hoping this means more drops to come.

My price went down to $150 for 6 days. I originally had the AS1 code and now its cheaper without that code. Picking up at TPA and dropping off at the Dolphin. Used the coupon code AD3868JST and contract code 7014926.

What is the AS1 code?

I check rates several times a day...o_O Was able to book a full size, August 16-31 for 366 today. Checked about half hour later and it was 389. Still high...bit a lot less than what I started with!

What are those codes (Ie. who are they from)?

Travelocity is having another 24 hour sale. 8/16-8/22 was $166 via Budget.
Other car agencies I have never heard of (Ace, Fox, etc) are as low as $15 a day.
Quote done using link they sent to my email.
Thought I would share. Hope it helps!
