We have airfare for the beginning of August. I'm waiting for a resort discount to be offered before booking a room. If there is no discount out there in the next few weeks, it will be POP.

It's always great to have your airfare nailed down. Hopefully you'll get a good discount.

August here too! Split stay Yacht Club & Poly the last week in August with an incredible deal too good to pass up! (same TA many on the forums are booked with)

It will be our first stay at both hotels, we always stay at a moderate. But we got our pkg - hotels, park tickets & a day at TL, BB, or DQ added in as well.. all for a price equivalent to a moderate stay with the same inclusions! Deluxe's here we come

Hi everyone,

I am excited! I got to use the new disney visa card discount today and my split stay is now POR Garden View 5 nights and AKL pool view 3 nights.

It was to upgrade from a standard view to a garden view at POR with the discount was $1.00 in their favor.

The discount difference between a standard room at CSR and AKL was $235.00 total in their favor.

I started out being excited to save money now I spent more. It will be worth it thought we have wanted to try AKL.

Oh and I got to make an ADR at Boma too.

hi everyone just in case not everybody knows a disney visa card members discount came out today, and it goes to the general public on Monday.

This covers most of the summer. I used it for my August dates today.

The discount board has threads on it with details.

Finally completely decided and booked with the 30% off pin! We were originally booked in Pop Century, but added a third person and thought the queen sized beds would be nice since two would be sharing. I'm so excited!

OK--color me a turncoat! I switched to the Contemporary. DH got spooked by SO much construction. I called club CM and he said the beach in front of Hawaii will be under construction. That was the dealbreaker. I thought the beach constro was farther east. Oh well, they've got to do what they've got to do. But still love our TA--we still got a sweet deal and are looking forward to being even *closer* to MK!

After talking to hubby after he got home from work last night, he wanted to change resorts because he wanted something closer to the monorails without the price. We upgraded again from CS to WL!!

Booked DS's first Disney trip for 8/15-8/19 at All Star Sports. The free Memory Maker was just too good to pass up. Attempting to con the grandparents into joining us (already booked CP with them in mind!)

So...we are returning to the World for the first time in several years to celebrate a major milestone, and I am torn. I managed to get a code which has us staying at AKL just like last time for 30% off - and we have the dining plan. We loved it there, and my younger daughter was adamant that we should not stay anywhere else. However, I really want to try POR and I even tried to plan a split stay, but it was going to be sooooo expensive. I know we could just take a bus over and have a QS meal, but I am afraid once we arrive at AKL nobody will want to take time just to visit the grounds of another resort. Anyone who has done a split stay - is there a secret to doing it for less? I see lots of folks doing a split, and I'd love any advice. I have all our ADRs done, so I am not going to switch, but still toying with the idea of adding a day or two to stay at POR. Good idea or bad? Anyone who has stayed at both AKL and POR have an opinion to share? Are we missing out, or is the deluxe really a better choice? Thanks!

When you say you have a code for 30% off for AKL, but you don't have a discount at all for POR? I can't imagine POR being more expensive.

Also, it could be kind of a pain just to visit POR resort for a quick service meal if you're relying on the bus.

Do you spend time at DTD at all? If you do, you could take a boat to the resort and check it out and then take the boat back to DTD. That might be fun!

I also just wanted to say, this thread is not used much. But if you posted this on the resorts board, you'd probably get lots of good advice!
