august 2013 codes for rental cars?

I am 3 weeks out today and have a budget and alamo reservation for a minivan for 8/12-8/27 for $259 total. Anyone think it will drop or see anything competitive?

$259 for a minivan for 2 weeks +? That's pretty good! Keep looking though...

We are a week out today. Alamo rates are still quite high. I have a reservation with them for 8/7-8/21 for $284 all in. I'm still checking throughout the day.

I have never used Alamo before. I just did online check in for our car, and it gave me the option to put a credit card in, and proceed directly to the garage. So, does this work like National, you just walk out and pick a car in the proper aisle (full size aisle, with a standard reservation)??

exactly. You will select from the full size area, the helpful attendent will direct you. Proceed to the exit booth, show your license and credit card and you will be on your way. If you have an additional driver, make sure that person is in the car, they will be required to show their license as well and, I stress, they must be in the car.

Thanks for that tip, since it was free I did add myself as an extra driver. I will for SURE be in the car, no way the family gets to Florida without me in tow!

I'm just 4 days out. I'll very likely go with Dollar at $143 total for a fullsize. Alamo has been bouncing around for my dates today. Quite high this morning (over $300), then a little under $200 early this afternoon, now back over $200. Didn't expect this kind of bouncing this close, but you never know.

Still the best price that I could get for my dates was 141.68 thru Alamo for an economy. I got this thru Hilton Honors, which requires an HHonors account (free). The HHonors contract ID is 7015298 if anybody wants to try it. Since my HHonors points are paying for our hotel on this trip this gives me even more warm fuzzies towards HHonors .

I did get a rate of 138.41 on enterprise thru BJs but my membership just expired and having to renew it right now would negate the 3$~ difference (plus the 2nd driver is free with Alamo since we're insiders). Anybody can check the rates thru BJs, just like you would thru Costco.

You are welcome. And, glad you added yourself. I always tell people about being present cause things happen. Once had a woman show up, the ressie was in her husband's name and he was not there, he was still at his home. She did not understand the problem. Took some time to straighten that mess out. Just a FYI, they have very few econ. cars at MCO, you will most probably be bumped up to compact.

Dates are Aug 4-11. My primary reservation is with Dollar for a Standard (Base:$90.40, Total: $143.05, AAA discount (was slightly better than City Special), booked July 18). My backup is with Enterprise, again Standard (Base: $106.02, Total $158.40, Costco discount with upgrade, booked July 16)

How you got such a good rate with Alamo on a minivan? I've been searching for 6+ months for a rental at that same time, and the best I could come up with (we are there 8/13 - 8/28) was $600 with budget.... and some of the other rental agencies were even more than that.

I made this reservation. back in February and I the code X474200 and a second code for $40 or MUGZ044. According to the board this code has been sold out pretty big but you should give it a try. My total is $255.98.

Sorry this is for budget. The Alamo one I used the vroom vroom code which I have read may be questionable. It is the same price.

Correct on choosing a car at Alamo. You take any car you want in the row for the class vehicle you reserve.

Alamo codes are tougher to find (and not as good...finding a day off a week is getting really hard to find) these days. If you're a club member (Costco, BJ's, etc.), they'll have codes on their website. For specific codes, you could check places like Mousesavers, but be prepared to document anything you might find. If you don't come up with anything, you could always join Alamo Insiders and get 10%.

That would be awesome! It's my first time renting a car so I have no idea what to expect.

I give up.. throwing in the towel. I refuse to pay the prices I'm getting for a 4 day mid-week rental. The cost plus the parking fee at the Dolphin has worn me down.

I cancelled my National reservation & booked with Tiffany Towncar.
