august 2013 codes for rental cars?

I'd go with the fullsize personally. I know the Impala at least has a very large trunk. We used it last summer for 5 people with one suitcase each (3 of the suitcases were mid sized, two large),and a few grocery bags. It all fit!

We had to play tetris to get all our luggage in the back of my 2003 Accord to get to the airport. When I loaded up the Imapala in Flordia, I thought we had lost a couple of suitcases. HUGE trunk.

Got an email from Dollar this morning for 179.99/wk premium . I think it goes thru September. Promo code is 5CO7E.

I don't need a car that big, but its my current lowest rate for 8/4-11...$179.99 base, $248.01 total

YUP!!!! Just booked this as well. I had to adjust my flight time with National and when I went to use the KLM code again it would not accept it. I am taking a flight 4 hrs later. That HAD been the best deal for me at $205 for Aug 1-6.

I had also done fairly well with Budget @ $278 for same dates. DOLLAR just beat 'em. National and my favorite Alamo are well in to the mid to upper $300's and even low $400's for Aug 1-6 :scared1:

Now, repeatedly (and I'm trying every company and dozens of codes/combinations), DOLLAR is ahead big time. I just got the $244 for a premium or $256 for small SUV (5CO6E). This game is exhausting. Bottom line is, early August car rental rates have been pretty bad overall.

new to this car rental business .. but does this make sense..

i plugged in all info and it came to 212.98 total base rate..

then it comes to :

Est. Grand Total
$419.24

wow, what a difference with taxes.. does this make sense (quote from Dollar)

That seems odd to me:confused3
I just ran my dates again with Dollar and my base rate is around $130, and then with taxes and fees (which are around $70), the total price works out to be about $200. So yes its a big jump but not nearly as big as yours. Did they explain on the price breakdown what they all were?

here it is ; a snippet ...
Base Rate: $212.98

Concession Fee Rec: $31.61
Energy Recovery Fee: $3.60
Florida Surcharge: $16.16
State Tax: $23.73
One Way: $94.60
Vehicle License Fee: $4.96
Estimated Grand Total: $419.24

is it because the pickup and dropoff location is different...
even so , i find the price quite high for this.

Sorry if this is a duplicate as I just don't have time to read 525 posts :rotfl2:.

For the one-way renters...picking up and dropping off at different locatins...I have found that Budget code Y937800 can't be beat. It can be combined with coupons such as upgrades, etc.

I was going to edit my original post after I looked at Dollar's specials and saw the small SUV listed. I think I'll go with the SUV. I just don't need a premium (Crown Vic or equivalent) and would be much happier with the SUV. I might save that $8 in gas alone. I'm still hoping Alamo gets into the game as we get closer...

X474200 gives me a better price if that helps you!

Dollar has lower rates than National for your dates, no codes needed just look at the regular prices then click on city specials on the same page
Dollar code 5C07E that the previous poster listed also gives you a lower price than what you currently have for an onsite location

Hmm, Im not seeing it at all. It gives a lower "total" rate, but that rate is not inclusive of taxes, you have to select the car and then on the next page it adds about 150 in fees!!!!!!

Thank you for sharing! I just booked through Dollar as it's by far the cheapest rate I have seen for the size car we need. My total was $33.99 a day and for 5 days the grand total with all taxes, etc was $229.43. I just couldn't find anything cheaper at this point and I have two trips before we leave on August 10th. I don't have time to goof around! Code was 5C06M.

Trying to recheck my national rates, but there is no option to select a mini van. V. odd

Ugh.. yep it's that darn one way fee. That's so annoying. I know there are a few companies that don't charge it (Alamo I think) but if there prices are way higher that doesn't help either.:headache:

thanks for the clarification... I was not sure if I was doing something wrong !!
I do need to pick up and drop off at different locations , so I will have to really step up the hunt for better prices... I am not getting anywhere near to what I see you people are getting here ... I was so happy when I got the base rate here , that I almost jumped .. but the the grand total had me confused...

I dont think AVIS charges the one way fee....??
thanks for all the help here....

Check through the last few pages of this thread. There is a coupon code for visa and mastercard. Try whichever card you plan on using and your rate should drop some more. Also, you could book a standard at MCO and pick up a full size. They are mixed together at MCO.

We have a standard for $277 for 15 days. (Aug 31 at 2:30 to Sept 14 at 4:30).

Thanks for the tip. I changed to a standard size and used an Entertainment Book $15 off coupon code (since I use an Amex card for car rentals, I can't use the Visa code). My 15 day rental is down to $301.

my Dh found a code to book our rental with National - He got it from our friends - but I am quite concerned about it. Anyone use this? I am a rule follower and will feel so stressed out about being questioned I am thinking of cancelling it....

Our rate with Honeywell code and entertain-book is Emerald Aisle mid size $294 total price. (8/15-8/27) It includes LDW as well....

I have only rented cars a few times before and they were all soooo much cheaper. I am feeling stressed about it. We dont HAVE to have a car - but it really helps in August. So hot to stand and wait on Disney transport.

Do you work for Honeywell? If not, I wouldn't be using a Honeywell code.

My company code cannot even be used for personal travel. Although in the past it could, you were certainly not allowed to give it to a non-employee.
