august 2013 codes for rental cars?

Guys, I need some help. My mind is spinning reading all these posts. Here's what we need. We land at Sanford August 30 @ noon- Return flight is September 7@ 2:45.. Looking for atleast a standard car. Everything I priced in that class was $400 after everything was said and done. We really don't need a vehicle the whole time. My brother and his family are going to be at the same resort and are driving. Once we get there we use Disney transportation. So I was going to book thru Alamo and pick up at the airport on 8/30 @noon- drop off at Disney's car care center on 8/31 @ noon, then pick it up at the car care center 9/6 and drop at the airport on 9/7 at 1. Right now I'm sitting at a little over $100. But the budget queen in me wants to get lower. So can anyone give me the codes out there for Alamo.

I would be using a Visa. I don't have a Costco membership or anything like that, just Sam's club.

Any help would be appreciated!

Visa coupon is... AD2338FDF ($30 off - but it may be for a weekly rental. Sorry, can't remember)
You should sign up for Alamo insiders (free to join). That will take care of your contract id. Makes checkin easier, too.

You can search this thread for "visa" and or Alamo and you'll find more information.

WOW... our Alamo standard rental (Aug 31, 2:30 to Sept 14, 4:30) just jumped from $277 to well over $500!!!!
So glad I grabbed a reservation when I did. But, I'm still hoping it's just a glitch and will come down as we get closer to the date!

This years pattern is pretty much mimicking lasts years exactly. Alamo dropped at 6 weeks out (over the 4th of July weekend) for me, made some more little drops for a few days, and then shot way back up. It came down a little before we left, but never as low as it did 6 weeks out. YMMV ..because the rate drops are unpredictable. But I'm happy with what I have now too because I can live with this if it doesn't come down again.

A better coupon for Budget is $40 off -- MUPZ044

Thanks for posting, DH is an AARP member and it took our minivan 8 day rental (due to p/u drop off times) Aug 10-17 Tampa from $370 to $323.44 (taxes included)

We booked this on January 2 and haven't seen anything lower than $370 for a minivan since. I have tried every code out I have read of and found on carsavers, mousesavers, Costco, etc

I can live with this if no other price drop happens

What about the Swan/Dolphin location. Is this in drop off/pick up close enough to the resort where we could drop off and catch a bus at the hotel?

Hang in there. My Alamo reservation for July went down again today. Now I am only 7 days away for my trip. I have a compact car reserved for 14 days, I started with a total of $357 now is total $282. Every time that its go down, I do a new reservation and cancel the prior one.

Still no drops at all for Tampa for my dates 8/15 to 8/24. Holding 2 ressies now. One national for 306 (onsite), one Sixt (0ffiste) for 216.

Tried priceline this morning for ha ha s at $8 a day and of course was rejected! They suggested I bid $20. NO THANKS! :)

Keep checking every day. Hoping for an onsite drop- preferably with Alamo or National (our preferred companies).

Never ever give them their suggested price. It's a bait to get you to spend more. Just keep trying with lowball bids. You have plenty of time. I think Priceline is most likely to offer you something decent about a week before your trip:)

Dont worry, Ive pricelined before and I would never use the suggested rate. I just wanted to "feel it out" for our rates. I refuse to lock in unless its a rock bottom price

Still hopeful for a drop at some point. I have seen lower rates but just nothing beating my existing ressies yet.

Used to Orlando. Alas, I saved over $500 flying into Tampa this trip, so its worth it :)

There are 4 people in my family.. 2 adults 2 kids. We have a mid size SUV booked which is supposed to hold 5 people 2 bags. A full size holds 5 people 4 bags. The full size is so much cheaper. We are not light packers and need the car for 11 days. We will each have a suit case plus a dress bag. Any thoughts from the experts?

For Alamo, we find that the full size holds much more than a mid size SUV. We used a mid size SUV last December and luggage was a little tight. But, there's always the middle of the back seat, too. We've never had an issue with a full size for 4 people.

Also, if you book Alamo at MCO, their standard and full size cars are all in the same row. You can book a standard and take a full size.

I'd go with the fullsize personally. I know the Impala at least has a very large trunk. We used it last summer for 5 people with one suitcase each (3 of the suitcases were mid sized, two large),and a few grocery bags. It all fit!

National is a standard (not sure if its like Orlando where they are the same as full size aisle).

Sixt is a full size.

Got an email from Dollar this morning for 179.99/wk premium . I think it goes thru September. Promo code is 5CO7E.

I don't need a car that big, but its my current lowest rate for 8/4-11...$179.99 base, $248.01 total

Dollar has lower rates than National for your dates, no codes needed just look at the regular prices then click on city specials on the same page
Dollar code 5C07E that the previous poster listed also gives you a lower price than what you currently have for an onsite location
