Uh-Oh - soon we'll be starting a thread like on the Cruise Boards, about "How to sneak alcohol into DisneyWorld":rotfl2: And people will be calling us boozers and other nasty names.

So, with all the booze talk, how about the question of the day being: What's your best hangover recipe??!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I'M TOTALLY KIDDING EVERYONE!!! I DON'T EVEN DRINK --- (well I would if it didn't bother my husband so much! Give me a good old Budwieser and I would love you!!)

Oh girl, please...I am NOT paying Disney prices for my wine fix and I have not lost a box yet to bad airline luggage handling!:thumbsup2 I also pack a bottle of Malibu Rum (white plastic bottles) for mixers. When I was at FQ last month, there was a family at the pool and they had a big bottle of Malibu rum. They were ordering non-alcholic drinksfrom the pool bar and then pouring their own rum in them--so they were only getting charged HALF of what the drinks would have been if they ordered the drinks with alchohol added. So their drinks were costing them $4 plus tip instead of $8.25 plus tip....now THATS budgeting!:goodvibes

I never thought of bringing our own alcohol. I may have to add that to my list.

Hi all!!!

I have not officially booked yet so I hope I'm not jinxing anything by posting here but I am planning my FIRST ever Disney World trip for August 26-31! It's just me (31) and my husband (36) going. So excited! :dumbo:

I have been reading through some (but not all 80some pages yet..lol) of your thread and noticed alot of you already have ADRs! This is my first time going so we're not 100% sure where we will want to eat each night. Do we have to have reservations before we get there? The only thing I was thinking we would do a ADR for is the Luau thing at Poly.

Thanks!

:welcome:

If you have any ADR's you REALLY want you should try to book them asap. A few month back Disney offered free dining and it starts on 8/25/12, so ADRS's for the end of August are not as plentiful as earlier August. Don't get me wrong there are still plenty of ADR's available, but some places are harder to get then others.:goodvibes

I would go on Disneyworld.com and check out what's available.:thumbsup2

Thanks Nurse Mommy! As soon as I book I will definitely do them. Waiting on Disney Visa...should be here soon.

Question: If we DON'T have reservations will we just not be able to eat at most sit down places? We're getting a dining plan. 1 QS a day and 1 sitdown meal. I don't want to be wandering around where to use my meal plan.

Oh and we're going to stay at AKL at their great 30% off rate for a standard room. :D

Speaking of wine in a box, it is much more flexible and space-saving if you take the bag out of the box and lay it on the top shelf in the mini-fridge. Just sayin'......:rolleyes1

haha!! Am loving the turn this thread has taken! I am driving, so I am def packing my wine!

Question for anyone who has stayed at the Poly- we have two ADRs there-- can I drive over and is there a place to park if I am not a guest? We've done it at Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge to eat, so I am thinking I am okay, just wanted to see if anyone knew for sure though...

WHAT??? You're kidding, right?
Rum runners containers, or just plain vodka / rum in those plastic travel bottles, zip in a ziplock bag, tuck 'em among some clothes in your suitcase and you're good to go!
Not that we don't ever buy those foo-foo drinks at the pools, cuz we do, but they ARE expensive!

When you drive up to the gatehouse, tell them you have an ADR for whichever restaurant you will be eating. The guard will give you a parking pass that is good for 3 hours.

I don't drink at all. Dh likes beer and wine occasionally. We usually order a 12 pack for him to have in the room, or buy it on our way from the airport when we have a car. Then he has wine with dinner and a beer or two in the evenings on the balcony. Works well for us and keeps the costs down:)

First trip! Oh my God! I am so happy that you might get to go!
As for ADRs, BOOK SOME. You just can't go up to any restaurant and expect to get in, so make sure you book ADRs on waltdisneyworld.com
I know some people like the quick service, but being able to have a sit down meal is great. Especially for your first trip!

Can I share what we made yesterday?

Not bad for a first time! We might redo my older dd's She was happy until she saw mine but now wants more color. Hey, I might even do a whole other set for all of us. I love they way they turnes out!

I just happened upon your post and would LOVE to know how you did these? These are so nice, I was goggling how to tie dye because it's been years since I did it at cubscout camp but seeing your creations inspires me to go out and buy some supplies!

How did you get the Mickey in the middle of the swirls? ALso, how did you get the faded white Mickeys on the green shirts - those are great!

TIA :goodvibes

Another non-drinker here. DH indulges very infrequently. We always stop at a Walmart for supplies en route to our hotel, and that's where he will pick up a 12 pack of beer (simply for the novelty of being able to buy beer at Walmart...yes, we are easily impressed)........but he NEVER ends up drinking it all. Now, to be fair, both our previous trips have been in the winter, so maybe he will be a little more inclined to enjoy an ice cold drink when the weather is in the 90's. Our unit has a private balcony, so he can kick back and relax after a busy day of touring.

As for me? Give me a Diet Pepsi or a Coke Zero and some ice and I am a happy girl :) .

GOOD MORNING TEAM AUGUST!! QOTD TIME:

DO YOU ROPE DROP OR DO YOU TOUR STARTING IN THE AFTEROON TILL CLOSING???
:cheer2:

I ask this because Im toying w/ the idea of doing later touring on a couple of days. I have older children who may not be willing to get up and to the parks so early every day.

Your first trip, how exciting!!! If I were you and getting the dining plan, I would make your ADRs. I know there are tons available, because my sister's friend is going around the same time and she was able to get most of the ones she wanted, some are at non-standard meal times.

We had an ADR at the Poly and were able to park there. Just tell the guard you have a reservation and they will tell you where to park.

I have on occasion gotten one or two of the drinks at the pool. And yes they are quite expensive.

We normally try to do rope drop once for each part. We usually have 1 sleep in day and head to a park after a morning in the pool. Depending on the crowd levels and planning we can get a lot done when arriving at a park well after rope drop.

We rope drop (or as close to it as we can) so we can avoid crowds and have time to get back for a swim. I will stick with RD due to heat and what I hear is terrible crowds early Aug.

We usually get to the parks around 9:15-9:30 and stay till close. It's pretty much non-stop, but it's Disney so there's no sleeping or relaxation!

We are definitely rope-droppers. DS4 is still up every morning before 7 a.m., so there's not much sleeping in that goes on in our room. We do have a "sleep in" day scheduled in the middle of our week, with no park visit that day, just to rest up. Other than that, we're up early. It's amazing how much you can get done in the first 2 hours the park is open!

I always plan rope drop, but rarely do we make it. In the Summer months, we usually get there early, stay in the parks until after lunch, head to the hotel for a nap and then hit the parks for the evening. Night time is my favorite time in any amusement park.

Precisely why Id like to tour late at night~I would love to experience the late night park time. But in the past, getting up super early for rope drop means Im "exhaauuusted" by 9pm especially dealiingw/ a the heat all day. Im wondering since we'll be there the 3rd week of August, the crowds wont be so terrible??

Definately rope dropers. My kids won't sleep past 6am so we are up and at'em and head back for a nap/swim midday.
