We always use Disney transportation. It is so nice not to have to worry about transportation. We always fly and don't want to rent a car.

Do you have your own vehicle (rented or owned) during your vacations or do you rely on WDW transportation?

We have traditionally relied on WDW Transportation but on this trip we are actually renting a car. We became very frustrated with the buses on our last trip, primarily because of the rudeness of some of the passengers and the length of time waiting at a bus stop. After reading/hearing so many people on DIS and various podcasts talk about how a car makes life so much easier, we decided to give it a try on this trip. I'm not nervous about driving in a new place, and DW is an excellent navigator, so armed with some maps and our trusty(?) iPhones, we'll find where we're going! (Eventually.)

Since we always fly to Orlando from up here in the Great White North, we always use WDW Transport. Besides, it's like you immerse yourself in another whole world - DisneyWorld! Feels more removed from reality that way!!:cool1:

I'm renting this time since I am off site at Bonnet Creek. I know they have a shuttle to the parks but it works out to be cheaper to rent it for the whole time rather than when we will need it to drive to Key West.

Im taking the plunge and writing about my trips and the planning....join me

We always fly and take ME. Since our trips are always onsite for two weeks, we no longer feel the need to go, go, go. I don't mind slowing down and waiting a little while for a bus, boat or monorail. Sure I've had a few long waits (like after illuminations), but I'm on vacation and try not sweat the small stuff.:thumbsup2

We always rely on WDW transportation during our trips, but this year we will have a car (we are driving), so it's going to be a different experience for us.

Good Morning TEAM AUGUST!:cheer2: I have not seen a QOTD today, so here's one to chew on~

We always drive so we have our own van and use it plus we've only stayed on-site for 1 of the 3 previous trips. I think if we did an adults only on-site trip, we'd definitely use WDW transportation so neither one of us would have to be the designated driver! :drinking1

We rented a car only when we stayed off site once. I prefer not to need to drive and the cost of a rental is crazy. We have had no real issue with ME or Disney Bus system.

On the Mousekeeper envelopes subject- I just have my kids decorate them by hand. Ods loved making them and got a few great thank you notes.

I am also making an Autograph book but I will complete it after the trip. I plan to only get Autographs with photos of kids and put them together in a digital scapbook rather then have character sign an actual book. I prefer the photos to Autographs personally so that part is just to give kids the experience. Ill start designing the pages now and add pics and siggys.

Sorry guys, I am playing catch up with the QODs.

Can I ask the Question of the Day for Friday (even though it's Thursday evening???......

When do you start saving for your next Disney vacation?

* on a weekly or bi-weekly basis once you return

* wait for your income tax return

* put the trip on your credit card and pay for it later

My answer would be I start saving for the next trip when we get back. I put so much away each paycheck and then the tax refund usually pays it off.

Anyone??? :thumbsup2

For us it is right after we get home from our last vacation....any money left over goes into a pot and then DH and I keep adding to it every paycheck.

QOTD: Do you make anything special for your trip - custom t-shirts, autograph books, treat bags for trip there or in hotel, etc?

Unfortunately I am not the creative type therefore I don't make anything special for our trips. The most I have done is make countdown calendars for we go. My DH has also made LGMs for our backpack and each of our suitcases.

We always do Disney Transportation that starts and ends with ME. However when we go on our June 2013 trip we are going to bring our car because we want to go to St. Augustine FL before heading to Disney. I am excited about taking our car, but then again I am nervous about taking it because we live in a Suburb of Chicago and the thought of a 20+ hour drive does not seem fun to me.

I am making pillows for us on the plane this trip. As for cars, none for us because it would cost us too much

Am I early enough for Question of the day??

What is the food item or meal you are most looking forward to???

For me, I am excited to try an offsite place or two on the Universal part of out trip. Mostly excited about not paying theme park prices:rotfl:
And this sounds weird, but the single best food item of our last trip was a breakfast sandwich I had at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot! LOVED it and I meant to go back for another but never did.
I was just hungry and we happened to be there so it was surprising how much I loved it. I think for me though my favourites always end up being something I didn't build up in my mind too much.

No doubt-Definitely looking forward to Teppan Edo. We've never eaten there before and it's our first night dinner:)

For us it is Whispering Canyon Cafe. We've never eaten there (we normally only do QS), but we are celebrating my graduation and wanted a special meal. This looked like the perfect place for us - can't wait!

We book on the Disney website with a $200 deposit and then put money towards it every week.

Yachtsman Steakhouse. We ate there two years ago when we went Premium and of all the meals we had that weekend, it was our favorite. Loved it more than even California Grill.

I'm really considering switching hotel. We went to POP before and loved it, I kind of want to try something new and after looking at prices we'd save $80 to stay at Movies, or $180 to stay at Music. $180 is alot of money but I'm not thrilled about the themeing, it just doesn't look Disney-like to me.

I make my last payment tomorrow so I kind of want to decide before then.

The kids and DH were no help, they just want to go back to Disney so its on me to make the decision.

I can see wanting to stay somewhere new...we are staying 4 nights at Music, then moving to POP. Music is my nieces choice, the boys wanted sports but she spent the entire day convincing them music was a better choice. From what I read the allstars are so close you can stay at any and enjoy the theming of the others!

We've stayed at Music several times and have never been disappointed with it. While it certainly doesn't have the theming of the higher-end resorts, it does a good job as a value. But if you're looking for Disney characters, it really wouldn't work. Movies, on the other hand, is great for that. We stayed in the Toy Story section at ASMo on our last trip, and my then-3-yr-old DS loved it! It is definitely well-themed if you want actual characters.

Otherwise, ASMu is definitely themed better than a hotel in the real world, and it has that "on-property magic" that so many of us love. Either way you choose, enjoy your trip!!

:thumbsup2
