Ours is August 27 to Sept. 7!! :cool1:

Our dates have changed. It will be August 25 to Sept 5 and we are staying at POP Century!! I don't know about everyone else, but we can't wait! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Doing the double-digit dance this morning!!!!!!!

:dance3: :cool1: :cheer2: :dancer: party:

Congrats Gina!!!:cool1:

We bought our flights this morning!!!! I had a budget of 1500 for five of us. I think it came to about 1580 with exchange and early bird check in. I can live with that. I know Southwest might have a sale, but I couldn't live with myself if they ended up going way higher.
So..
August 23rd (leave in the evening) to Sept 3rd (leave early in the morning).
Non stops out of Buffalo at the times I wanted. We're taking Jetblue down and Southwest back which means free bags as well! Leaving late on a Thursday and taking the early morning flight home saved us a lot of money. Literally every other flight was much much higher.

The plan is now 3 days at Universal and 8 nights at Art of Animation.
Everything is coming in right on budget so far. If only I knew what the Canadian dollar is going to do this summer. That's concerning me a little.

Woohoo!!!! I am so happy you found yourself some acceptable flights!!! So much more fun to fly than to have the long drive there and back. The more time in Orlando (and less time on the road) the better in my book!

I would bet our Canadian dollar will not see anything better than it is now until at least mid-June (when Greece goes to the polls). Then if Greece votes to pull out of the Euro, I think our CDN currency may fall even further. But I'm just guessing.......I work for two financial advisors so this is something we talk about ALOT. Me personally, I'd pay off what I could now when its 98 cents and know at least you will be close to par. My husband and I were just chatting yesterday about how grateful we were that we had everything of ours paid off when our buck was just above the US dollar. Every little percent helps!!!

My son (7) and I are heading back to WDW for our 3rd trip. Unfortunately DH will have to stay home so this will be just the two of us. We will be staying at POP and it will be our first experience with a value resort. I have heard so many great things about POP and am really looking forward to it. I just subscribed to this thread and can't wait to plan w/ y'all!! :woohoo:

I'm so excited we are finally able to do the Double Digit dance along with the rest of you :dancer:party:...99 days until we check into the Poly :cool1:

:rockband: We're at 95 days and a Wake up, wish we were closer but than again, don't want to rush away the wonderful days of Summer. :beach:

78 days and counting!!! Come on August!

August 10 to August 12 All Star Music
August 12 to August 18 Animal Kingdom Villas- Jambo House

Would you believe I changed our resort ..AGAIN?:rolleyes1

This will be the last of the changes as it is what I wanted from the beginning. We're now at POR with free dining in two rooms. Initially hubby really didn't want two rooms as it's a family vacation. When I pointed out that they will probably have a connecting door, and even if they don't they'll be beside eachother he finally relented. So dd and her friend will have one room and the three of us in the other (no worries at all about dd and her friend. Both shy, quiet girls who follow the rules). Now, if for some reason we get stuck in different buildings I'll have to share with them and he won't be a happy man, but I highly doubt that they won't find us two room beside one another in the entire resort during value season.

Anyway. That's the last change. I promise:flower3:

We need to get chatting and planning in this thread!!

On the May planning thread we all got to know eachother really well by someone who took the initiative and asked a question of the day. So let's see if it works here. I'll start.

Question of the day.. What resort/hotel did you choose and why??

Port Orleans was probably my favourite of all of our trips. Even when compared to the Poly and Boardwalk!
I love love love the themeing and the landscaping is beautiful. I prefer the Alligator Bayou section as it is shady with all of the trees and plants and our August trips are hot.. we'll take all the shade we can get. We love the make your own pasta station in the food court, and the boat to Downtown Disney is great!!.

Your turn!!

Question of the day.. What resort/hotel did you choose and why??

Ooooh, I like this idea

O.k. so here is my answer....We are actually doing a split stay between the Poly and BLT. I chose the Poly because I haven't stayed there since I was a kid and my DH and kids have never stayed there. I have been longing for the trip to stay there again. As for BLT, we are DVC members and BLT is our home resort. Sad thing about it is, we have been members since 2010 and this will be our first stay home. Our first initial plans were to just spend 9 nights at BLT, but while we were on our trip in January, we were waiting for the bus back to our resort and I happen to look over to Poly and suggest that we do 3 nights at Poly then go to BLT for 6 nights. DH agreed but suggested we should still stick with 9 nights at BLT and just add on 3 nights to Poly :cool1:.

Sorry for the novel :rotfl:

I am totally in for a little "get to know you" kind of posting! :goodvibes

We chose Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa for this getaway for a ew reasons. Love the SPACE in the villa (1100+ square feet, two separate bedrooms....one with Roman tub :worship: ..... laundry facilities, three TV's, full kitchen and living room) as we just don't travel well when we're all shoved in one small room. DH is a snorer, and DS is the kind of kid who needs his 12 hours a night, so a large comfy room was key.

We also chose this resort because of all the amenities....7 pools, 7 hot tubs, mini golf, fishing, paddle boats, bike rentals, pool activities.....lots and lots to do without ever leaving the resort. Resort activities are important this trip as we hope to get a little relaxing in among the other activities we have planned.

Thirdly, its in the perfect location for our planned parks. We are doing Discovery Cove one day, Aquatica at least twice (have a cabana booked two days), and hope to visit Wet & Wild once. We love being close to I-Drive and all the shopping and dining options. And we are just an hour away from Cocoa Beach :thumbsup2 .... I am determined to see the ocean (for the first time) this trip!

I love POR  . Beautiful resort. We stayed there in 2009 and fell in love with the lushness of Alligator Bayou. It would definitely be our first choice for our next onsite stay. Two rooms is great idea to get you guys the space you need :thumbsup2 .

A 12 night trip..........I am so jealous!

Our very pampered cat will have a hard enough time with our 8 nights away.......she would most certainly give us the silent treatment for weeks if we leave her any longer :snooty: .

The Poly is a beautiful resort. And I love their character breakfast there.......it was one of our family's favourites.

We are staying at ASMU...mainly for budget reasons....it is our first time and I do not anticipate us speanding a lot of time at the resort, and with the summer discount code this resrt was the most sense money wise (7 people 2 rooms)

I am very interested in a lot of the resorts and am already thinking abut where to stay if we decide to go again next yeat:rolleyes1....right now it seems like 6 people at the Cabin's at Fort Wilderness may be in order....we LOVE camping but summer heaat in Flordia in a tent seems like too much to me...lol
