I feel like we should make some sort of tag or something to make ourselves recognizable to each other as members of this group! I might be able to find some old lime green mickey heads but maybe we should make a design just for our group or something!! Just thinking aloud!

Love it! I'll see what I can pull together too.

Awesome idea! The August Crew! Woot!

I could make something on the cricut paper cutter and send it out to all of those who want one. I was thinking maybe a lime green number 8 (representing the 8th month). But you all might think that's lame.....a Minnie head instead of Mickey? A heart? Mickey ears hat?

Ok...anyone??? :dance3:

Welcome to this Awesome thread, Gillian!!! Everyone is soooo friendly here!!! We are at CBR from the 17th through the 28th, so maybe we'll see you there! I always have my lime green Mickey heads on my bag, so if you see me, please say hi! :cool1:

Thanks and will do!

Ok, since I want everyone of TEAM AUGUST to say hi to us if you see us, here is a picture so you all don't really think I look like the pink princess Mickey ears.....

I will definitely be on the lookout for your family.

OK, clearly you can't be offline for a day around here - I think I missed 4 pages worth. :lmao:

My excitement for the day was I did a test run on my new ecco sandals that I bought today and they were awesome! It was only 4 hours walking and on my feet, but I never thought about my feet once and not even close to any sore points. Pretty good for the first wear!

I am very happy you stopped over to my ptr!!! Yep, you know the saying "that which doesn't kill us makes us stronger" well, I'm a freaking cement baracade now!! :rotfl:

OMG!!! A freshman in high school. I just can't believe it.....after all I'm (cough) only 29 (cough, cough!!) :sad2:

My dd started high school last year. I was a nervous wreck. She went from a school of 250 kids to 1500 kids:crowded:

Guess what? She LOVES it. All the worry was for absolutely nothing. Her only real struggle has been math and we are working with her. But otherwise no problems at all. Relax mommies.. it will be ok:grouphug:

So we're driving (22 hours, ugh) and thought we should try to get to Orlando Friday night so we can check into POR 1st thing Sat. And then go to the parks, that way we don't waste a day. We thought a cheap off-site hotel but I just had the brain wave to check out Disney prices for value resorts. All star music is almost as cheap as off-site! So DH (love him) said why don't we stay there? And maybe even for 2 nights? So our 7 night stay may turn into 9!

Has anyone does this and how hard is it to change hotels? Do we have to check completely out? Do they help with luggage?

So excited!

YAY! That is exactly what we are doing. We added three extra days with the discounted rooms and are staying at ASMu. I don't know anything about split stays, but I *think* the hotel will move luggage for you? I am thinking about packing a separate bag for those three days so it will be easier?

Very cool! I just called and it has to be a separate reservation or it will mess up the free dining. Anyone else have this problem? I booked an 8 day hopper with POR and hoped to use one day with this earlier reservation, but not sure if they will let me. Any thoughts?

Yes, that is how its done. Its two completely separate reservations so you would need to buy pack tix and resort at both which isnt cost effective to get DP. You can supposedly pick up park tix a few days earlier at guest relations (I think) but I wasnt going to chance it. I looked into it and my BFF who is a Travel Agent checked. Look on the tickets sticky for more info about picking up early.
Instead We got YES tix (cheaper) and passed on DP but took advantage of room only.

Mickey paint samples are gone from Home Depot. :sad1:

They discontinued their partnership and the samples are no longer available in stores.

I had to do a separate res also. I have also heard that you can pick your tickets up 3 days early. I may call and ask. It is MUCH cheaper to add a day to my POR tickets than to pay for a day separately! We were just planning on swimming, DTD, and visiting family, but if I can sneak over to MK, I would love to do that!! :)

We're at the POR on the same dates beachmama3 :-)

I just found this thread yesterday and am up to reading page 72, but figured I better post soon! :) we're going Aug. 25-Sept 1 at POR. I can't wait! It'll be my first time staying on site and my 3rd time to the WDW (1st was for one day during honeymoon, 2nd was 1 day during a trip with my extended family who are NOT Disney folk!) So to stay on site for an entire week?! I'm in heaven planning for it! DS6 and DD4 are almost excited as I am!
We're taking DH's parents for their 40th anniversary and DH's brother's family and sister and her husband are coming along too, so it'll be 13 of us. I'll post our ADR's shortly (after I read more of this thread).

Hello there fellow Canadian! We will be at pofq on that same week. Maybe we will cross paths!

I'm down with wearing something that shows our Team August status. :)

Meanwhile I discovered tonight that Star Wars Celebration VI is happening in Orlando the 23-26th. The good wife that I am I shared with my DH even though I really don't want to go. He REALLY does though. So we may be extending our trip another day but it won't be at Disney. :sad2: We'd have to find another hotel. But then if we do a Sun-Sun we can do a non-stop flight for same price as driving. To me its a no brainer but DH is afraid of flying (and he also has a medical condition which the medication lowers his immune system so he get sick easily, Disney is going to be hard enough but a plane? hrmm). If we still drive that means missing another day of work and my last vacation day of the year.

I guess I should be a good wife and just tolerate the Star Wars and driving. :scared: Though I think the extra day and then flying is a better trade off. I will survive a day of Star Wars to be able to fly instead of drive 40+ hrs. He put our dilemma on his facebook and I mentioned I am not a Star Wars fan and DH said he is not a Dumbo fan. :P

In other news....44 days!!!!! :cheer2: So excited!!! I may start a PTR just so I can quit bothering you all... :upsidedow

Yay!!! So glad everyone is on board with Team August!! :lmao: Can't wait to see what you you guys come up with. I'm not crafty AT ALL but I was thinking some sort of graphic that we can all just print out and laminate and attach to our bags.

Just wanted to weigh in on both these issues. I've done split stays in the past and it's sooooo easy! They will transfer your luggage for you. It's really as easy as leaving one resort to go to the parks for the day as usual and then just taking the bus back to your new resort to check in. :thumbsup2

As for the ticket issue, I am a TA and there is so much they don't tell us AND don't tell the people who answer the phone at the call center. That's the reason you get 800 different answers every time you call. I actually have a client who is considering doing this on an upcoming trip to get free dining in the Fall. Have you read the ticket sticky? Chesire Figment seems to know what's he's talking about and he says it CAN be done. Here are his directions on doing it.

In cases where Walt Disney World Resort Guests would like to begin using their Package Tickets prior to the day of check-in (up to three days in advance), the Guests will be directed to visit any Theme Park or DTD Guest Relations location and request Early Ticket Pick-Up. (Note this cannot be done at a water park.)
It is only valid for people with packages at a Walt Disney World owned and operated Resort. You can be staying off-property at the time you pick up the tickets. Note that if you have a package which includes Dining, although you can pick up your tickets early you cannot get access to the Dining until you have actually checked in to your Resort.
Note that since August 2011 the Call Centers have been telling Guests this cannot be done. However it is still a valid procedure and can be done with no problem at Park Guest Relations Windows.
There is a possibility that if your package and the stay prior to the package are at the same Resort that you will be able to get the tickets at the Resort and not have to go to a Park Guest Relations Office.
And the tickets issued will be valid for the entire stay; they will not receive valid tickets when they actually check-in to their resort. There is a strong possibility that the tickets you have received prior to check-in cannot be added to your KTTW on or after check-in.

All that said, I would still be nervous about doing it and I am very hesitant about steering my client in that direction just in case it doesn't work.

It seems not all CMs are trained to do the uncommon things that actually CAN be done. This past October, I upgraded old one-day passes from 2009 to APs, used the one day ticket to enter the park and then headed straight to Guest Services to upgrade them. We were there for at least a 1/2 hour! At first they issued our APs with the expiration date as 2010! I'm like, how can this expire in 2010 when it's 2011!! So they had to reprint them and it took a few people to know exactly what to do. I thought that was a pretty common practice but I guess not!!

GOOD MORNING TEAM "8"!!!! Icant believe all the conversation that I missed last night--I always miss everything thats COOL!

Put me on the list of the ID Tags, I wonder if they should include our DIS names?

I gotta go back now and read all the pages from last night to catch up, brb!:goodvibes

That's a GREAT idea!!

This is what we all had made for my last group a few years ago.....

One guy did them for everyone and then emailed the graphic. But I think saying "TEAM AUGUST" or "TEAM 8" along with our names/DISnames would be cool! Maybe I'll see if I can work on a design too. We can all put in our designs and then vote! Haha!

Meanwhile I've been thinking of switching to POR...I know I know seems silly to downgrade but I just really love all the pictures I see of that place. I love animals too though so AKL seems perfect but we won't have a view so dunno. Hrmm...not going to do anything yet just thinking about it today.

POR is our favorite mod! The pictures don't do it justice~We're cking out of POP and cking into POR on the 23rd. We'll be requesting Alligator Bayou, as usual;)
