Checkin in! We will be in Florida from the 20th-25th. We'll be spending the first two nights in Cocoa Beach and the last 3 nights (22nd-25th) at AKL, staying club level. woot! We just got back 2 weeks ago from staying at BC CL, and weren't going to go back until 2013 but my DH suggested that we should go back before school starts again and of course I'm not going to say no! ;)

My wife and I just finalized our August trip. We are going to the World August 5th through 12th...

We are staying off site for the first time ever. We found a townhouse in Windsor Hills. It is a 3 bedroom & 3 bath with a private pool for $625 total!!

This will be our 6th trip in 6 years. I hope we don't regret staying off site.

We bought 5 day tickets with park hopper option through Disney's YES program for $720 for 4 people... Our boys are 11 & 13.

That makes this trip the cheapest we have ever had... It will also be the first trip where we did not get Free Dining...

I am happy to be going back...

Hey everyone, I hope you don't mind me joining in :) . We will be in Orlando from August 26th to September 2. :cool1: Our second visit this year.....we feel so blessed! :goodvibes

This trip will involve no Disney parks (none of the big theme parks at all, actually).....we are visiting Aquatica (at least twice, have a cabana booked for each day :thumbsup2), Discovery Cove, Gatorland, Cocoa Beach, and LOTS of shopping :thumbsup2 . Staying at Westgate Lakes Resort and Spa. We'll do lots of other "little" things along the way like mini golf and go-karting.....stuff that appeals to our teenager (and DH, my "big kid"). Our goal is to have some rest and relaxation as part of this vacation....we'll see how that goes ;) .

It will be fun to share in your excitement as our travel dates grow closer. Everyone I talk to moans and groans about how hot it will be. I am just praying heat is our only concern.......I have never experienced a hurricane here in the Great Canadian North and quite frankly, I don't want Mother Nature to educate me as to what a real summer storm can be like!!! :rotfl:

We did that last year in August! Had so much fun! Enjoy your trip!:goodvibes

We're staying @ Coronado 8/4-8/8. I'm going with DS (7) as DH is busy. this will be DS's 1st trip and my 1st trip since i was in high school (very long time ago). We can't wait. still need to book ADRs so I'm hoping there will still be some available.

August 11-19 and staying at All-Star Movies!:banana::banana:

We're going to be celebrating my son's 18th birthday :yay:..... and then see him off to college in Florida :):( . Definitely some mixed emotions!!

Thank you!!! Those that don't think we're nuts because we're going in August think we're nuts because we're not doing any of the major theme parks. Glad to hear someone else has done a similar getaway with fond memories!!

My DH and DS are water babies. They can think of nothing better than spending an entire week zipping down a waterslide or floating down the lazy river.

Wow......what a great opportunity to have a family trip before your boy leaves home! Hope you have a wonderful vacation together! :goodvibes

My son is just finishing up the 10th grade, so college/university plans are being discussed on a much more frequent basis. I know the next two years will go by way too quickly.

Thanks for the warm wishes!:) We're all looking forward to the trip, even though it will be hard to leave our oldest in Florida for college- and then take that long drive back to Virginia. But we all love Disney- so it's the perfect "send-off".:banana:

Good luck with all your college plans in the next couple of years (it does go by quickly), and have a great vacation in August!! :wizard:

cant wait my family first trip to WDW aug13-21 Disney all star movie resort with quick service meal plan

Just booked a surprise trip for just myself and my husband, August 16-20 at the Art of Animation Resort on a 60% off TA rate. He has no idea and I'm so excited that I had to tell someone so why not the DisBoards! Can not wait!

Yeah, and then you'll be joining us poor slobs who can ONLY go in August, or Spring Break - because of college schedules! That is, IF you want to go with your kids - LOL - There's always just the 2 of you! Now there's a thought:rolleyes1

UGH!! I saw that too and was really excited to take advantage of it but I don't have my OWN IATA card. We can use the rates for DCL and I think ABD but not WDW. So upset!

Congrats on being able to do it!!

Much as I hate to think about it, I am sure within a couple of years it will only be DH and I on vacation. DS has his sights set on a career in the air force, so I am guessing he won't be available for Florida getaways once he enlists :( . I can't imagine how weird it will be to have a totally "grown up" holiday. At Disney.....now there's an oxymoron!

BUMMER! Super excited because had this not come up I would have to wait until next summer to get to there. You should really work on getting your own IATA card ;).
