August 2011

One idea is to use the Fairy Godmailers on the Disboards. People who are in Disney can send you a postcard with a postmark from Disney World and have a character write out a personalized note. You just have to be willing to send one out to someone in return. We did it the last time we went to Disney in 2007 and are doing it again this time. My daughter loved it and I am sure my kids will love it this time as well.

You can find the thread here.... http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2440121

While it isn't my first trip, it's Cade's first trip (hence my name!) We are so excited because we are surprising him. He's 8, and has begged to go to Disney for a while - we just didn't think we could swing it money wise. So, we planned on going to Myrtle Beach, and that's what we've continued to tell him. As I was getting ready to book a condo at the beach for a week, I decided to just call and see how much it would cost for us to stay at ASMo. I couldn't believe it was about 1/2 of what the condo at the beach was going to cost. And, since I had old tickets from 1998 (2 adults and one child), this trip was looking very affordable. So here we are, going to WDW August 15 - 20. We are now trying to figure out the best way to surprise Cade.

BTW, Jeff hasn't beene there since 1978, so it's practically his first trip, too.

I've never gone during a busy period, so I'm hoping that we can figure out ways to get through the parks without a horrible amount of waiting.

Glad to have officially joined your ranks. And counting down.

Alison, Jeff and Cade!

August as well....Aug 1 - 8, 2011 :cool1::cool1:

We are staying at AKL for the first time.

How about August 2012? I booked my room in Orlando for Star Wars Celebration VI  I don't think I'll have time for Disney (we are going this August) but plan to visit Sea World and maybe Universal (won't have time for them this year).

No August 2012. 2012 will be our first year with no Disney:sad2:
Are we there yet???? I am so ready to go already!
Me too! We're getting closer...
We'll be at POFQ 8/13 to 8/22.

:welcome:

We switched resorts:banana: I'm so happy. DH Didn't want to stay at the GF (not enough theming) but when our schedule was done this week we would have spent 1/2 our time on a bus fro the YC to MK so we decided to switch to a monorail resort and all that was open was the GF!!!! YAY can't wait. Still the 21st to 27th

Can't wait for my first trip with a princess, my granddaughter Madyson. We will be at Wilderness Lodge 8/28 through 9/4. princess:

I'm right with you! Got CSR booked for 2011, and off site booked for Aug 2012 Star Wars Celebration. Maybe you should start a thread for Aug 2012!

Whoa - it's so hot in NJ today, I've been joking with my family that we're practicing for our Disney visit!:lmao: So, here's a question for you all - how is your family planning to handle the heat?

Get in, get out will be our philosophy. We're doing the DxDP this trip, so will be hitting the parks early every day, having a TS lunch, then going back to the cabin to nap. A nice early dinner, then more park time in the evening. 4 years ago we swore we'd never plan another August trip....:confused3:goodvibes

We live in Florida and have a child who is very heat sensitive. We pace ourselves, use fast passes, eat only at places that have airconditioning, and take snack breaks in the airconditioning too. We take swim breaks when the sun isn't the strongest. And try to stay in the shade where possible.

I thought about it but I'm not sure if I'm even going to go to Disney in 2012 during SW Celebration. I'll only have two free days (none SW) so depending on how much we get to do/see this year will decide if I go or not. I'm trying to decide between Epcot with Segway tour or Universal. It's also still up in the air if I'm traveling solo or if my DD16 will be 17 is going to come with me or not.
