August 2008

We will be at Pop Aug 12-19! We we're lucky enough to get a code and great airfare, so it was cheaper than a week down the shore...and much more fun! I wish we were there a few days longer...I went with a flight deal and flying Tues-Tues was the best deal. I usually prefer to spend 7 full days in the parks, but 6 will have to do I guess. Now I just have to wait...and wait....and wait!

By the way...we'll pack our ponchos for the 3rd time...the last 2 trips we brought them to the park each day and never saw even a 3:00 t-storm! Now I am probably jinxing myself! Wish me luck!

Thank you Aliceacc! I'm sure this will more than help, it's yet another spectacular thread! I have to read this again in detail.:goodvibes

I noticed this is your first 'family' trip to Disney, same here. I've been to Disney before but that was 10 years ago with my parents & siblings for the opening of Animal Kingdom, way before marriage and kids. Exactly, ten years later, I would have never imagined bringing my own family here, as it will be their first Disney trip. I can't wait to see how things have changed and what remained the same, forgive me for the nostalgia. :upsidedow

Psychotic planner here as well :faint: , 5 months, 3 weeks, and 5 days doesn't seem like enough time to plan and forever to wait at the same time. :crazy2:

The last time I was there was 1990, a year after my husband and I got married. So I've had a LOT to learn before this trip. I've been at it pretty hard since August, and have learned sooo much!!! Yet I know that it's a drop in the bucket.

We're all set to depart on August 20 for 5 nights! I caught a great deal on airfare and made all of our adr's, Yay! I finally signed up for the DIS, so it's official now! Great thread, great forum, it's so wonderful to have someplace to share my excitement and love for Disney and also learn a thing or two (thousand)! :cheer2: :cool1: :cheer2:

Just want to say :welcome: If it has anything to do with DISNEY, you'll find it here. You couldn't have chosen a better study site!!

Hello I just booked AKL standard room for Aug. 18-23. First time in August can't wait.

i just did a search yesterday and looks like the schools over there go back on aug 18

But what about the kids up North who have not gone back yet- they may crowd up the parks!:scared:

I am neurotic about crowds!

I planned "The Princess - No boys Allowed Tour 2008" for Me, SIL and my niece/her 6yr old daughter!!princess:

Are there any "seasoned" August Park goers that can tell me for sure how the week before Labor day is crowd wise???

Aug 24th to the 29th- I bought some Time Share points from a family member- so we are booked for the Boardwalk (2nd choice) and on the waiting list for the Beach Club (1st choice)

DH and I usually do the Values- I may never want to do that again after being at an Epcot resort!.....Walking distance......minimal bus rides.......YAY!:hyper:

We are booked Aug 1st- Aug 3rd staying at the Swan and then we are transfering to OKW in a GV till the 10th. My DS graduates high school this year and 5 of his friends are going down with us. Then when we return it is off to Alaska for my DS to hockey for a Junior A hockey team.

For those who will be renting a car. I found a great site from a link on Laughingplace.com. It's called Rentalcarmomma.com. It has all the latest codes for the rental companies. We plan on using Alamo because 1) they are located in the Airport and 2) we've had good luck from them in the past.

It had 2 codes posted for Alamo. I tried them both and they gave me approx $50 discount on a midsize car. Whatever car company you choose, make sure you join them first and sign up for email alerts. Alamo set me one today that will give me additional 10% off if I prepaid. I don't know if these are allowed on top of the other two. Also, this is for Alamo only, they have an express line for members. Before I joined up I waited 45 minutes to get my car while I watched the express line virtually empty the entire time. The express line clerk does not take up the slack for the regular saps that are not members. :goodvibes

My DS12 and I will be at POP from 8/23 thru 9/2! :cool1:

We have gone the last week in August the past couple ofyears. Started as a lack of daycare issue and coincided with free dining so it was perfect.

Made all my ADRs this week ... got everything we wanted included Le Cellier and CRT for dinner. I don't know how I am going to get thru the next 176 days! :rotfl:

We'll be a party of 10 at AKV in a Grand Villa from Aug 16-24. The 7 kids will be 16, 14, 13, 7, 7, 5 and 4. It was the same crew last August, but we were in two rooms (2 BR and a studio) at VWL. We're very excited about the trip!

This will be our first trip in a GV at OKW. I have six boys all 18 graduating from HS and going down to golf for a week. I had 3 of them with me last year and they were great, so I let my DS talk me into doubling the number:scared1: :scared1: . Not sure what I was thinking. They have been talking about this trip for 4 months now. When we get back they will all be going in their separate directions. My DD (21) and her boyfriend, DH and myself in the GV. Then my DS (30) and friends in a 1 bedroom. We are staying 2 nights at the Swan then 7 nights at OKW. I can't wait:dance3:

Going again to celebrate my son's birthday. It's a ritual that is getting hard to stop.:dance3:

We will be at the POLY from August 19-August 26th!!

We have a 20% discount but keeping my eyes open.

We're going augst 9-27 and staying at OKW WOOOHOOOO:banana:
only 157 more days hahahaha:laughing:

Booked at POFQ for August 10-15 with 4 day park hoppers! Airfare all booked! Shortest trip to the World so far but it should be really fun! I think we'll hit the highlights and return next year for the American Idol attraction!

I'll be apart of a grand gathering of 15, possibly 17 (all family). We'll be there Aug. 9-13. I've never been with so many people so this will be interesting! Especially since this is my first time taking my 2-yr.-old DS. I've also never been in August. I hear the heat is brutal. We picked it because we thought there would be less crowds and kids are off from school. If anyone has any advice for large groups or toddlers, I'd welcome it. Thanks!!

I am quite seriously thinking of going the last week in August right before my kids go back to school. Thing is, DH probably can't go, so it would be me, DS13, DD11 and DD9. Am I nuts?? The 4 of us are a pretty good team and I think we would do fine. I am more worried about the heat and humidity.

Does anyone have a feel for crowds at the end of August????
