August 20, 2006 4 nite Wonder! 08/20/06

Is anyone on this cruise going with little girls? I have a 3 and 4 year old who love to meet new friends. :wave2:
I'm so excited for August 20th to come. :woohoo: I actually am beginning to lose sleep thinking about it :sad2:
Is anyone else totally overly excited, like me?

Elisa

Magic me -

My DD will be very happy there are some other girls around. Maybe we can exchange names beforehand, and they can meet up on the ship. We are going to try to get to the Goofy meet at 2 - as long as I can get them away fromt he slide!

I am also overly over excited about the cruise. It is our families first cruise, and the fact that it is a Disney cruise makes it even better! I think I am driving my kids and co-workers crazy talking about the cruise. :cheer2:

Does anyone have any suggestions for Nassau? I haven't booked any excursions because I don't know if we will just want to explore on our own for a bit and then get back on the ship.

Looking forward to meeting everyone for our DIS meet at the Goofy pool! :)

TSBRN- We planned an Ardastra Gardens and Zoo tour. :lmao: I am kind of put off by all of the negative things I have heard about Nassau. About the people trying to sell things, and the people that come up to you on the beach trying to get you to buy drinks and things. My brother and his wife had a really rotten time because of this. I scheduled this shore excursion with Disney because I didn't want to be wandering the city alone with my kids. :sad2: The Garden tour sounded good because it included a quick tour of the city and still gave us time to do some shopping in the Straw Market. If anyone else has any good ideas, I would love to hear them as well.
Has anyone received their package from Disney yet, with their luggage tags, ect... I would be interested to know. Thanks.
Elisa

Castlecreations....I haven't received my package yet from Disney with my luggage tags either. I think I have read on here it come a few weeks before.
From what I have read on here, I think your little girls will enjoy the tour you are doing in Nassau. I can understand your hesitation about Nassau, especially with small children....I would do the same you are doing, a Disney excursion. Since my boys are older (13, 16) I think we will probably wonder around a bit and take in some sights, maybe go to Hard Rock cafe. Surprisingly, they didn't want to go to Atlantis...so that saves me some money there! I do feel I at least want to get off the ship and look around since I have never been to the Bahamas before. What the heck, if we don't like it, we can get back on the ship. :sunny:

Hi TSBRN,
I'm also afraid of the heat. We live in Florida but I think I may have booked the cruise during the hottest time. :sunny: Have you begun packing yet? Or planning your outfits. We are completely obsessed when it comes to packing for vacations. We make tons of lists and revise them over and over. Is anyone going to decorate their door. I have read that the doors are metal and magnetic and lots of people bring magnets and photos to decorate their door. Also is anyone bringing a pillowcase for the characters to sign? I heard that you can drop off a pillowcase and a set of fabric markers and all of the characters will sign it and you can pick it up at the end of the cruise.
Has anyone done this before?

Elisa :wave2:

Hi Elisa,
I think you will be ok in the heat since you live in Florida. It actually gets pretty hot and muggy up here in Erie, PA (94 today) and even though I don't like it, we will at least be used to it. I'm trying to plan outfits, but haven't started packing yet. I probably wont have time to make something to decorate our door, but I am going to put up a dry erase board. I am going to get the picture frames (for us) and a pillowcase for the characters to sign (for one of my little patients). Somewhere on this board there is a thread about someone on Ebay who will embroider your childs name on the pillowcase with a Disney character....the pictures looked really nice.
Happy planning :cool1:

I cannot believe we are only a month away!!! :cool1:

I think we are just going to go into nassau and see the pirate museaum and the straw market, and maybe take the borse and buggy around town. I think we'll spend most of our time on the ship.

Have any of you thought about whether you will rebook online? I keep saying to DH that we should at least have some idea, so if we decide we love it, we can do it!

Hi Disnutz...
The pirate museum sounds like fun, we might do that also.
I do plan on re-booking online depending on how good the prices are. I am going to write down the prices from the DCL and DU for the cruise I want to take next year and compare them with what they offer on board. :thumbsup2

I hadn't heard about a pirate museum. It sounds like fun. pirate:
I had thought about rebooking as well but I'm a Florida resident and I got a really good rate. I saved almost $3000 off of the regular price. :thumbsup2 So I think I would be better off waiting until Disney offers us Floridans their discounted price. My girls are getting so excited. Today we bought some light sticks for them to play with in the room and at dinner in the dark restaurant. I have to admit, I opened them and let them each have one tonight while they were in bed. :rolleyes1

Wow--I haven't checked this thread in a while, and here are all these dis-ers coming out of the closet :)

Hope to meet some of you at the Goofy pool at 2, I can't wait!!

I've been to Nassau before, on a Carnival cruise and just walked around checking things out. Went into a few shops and the Straw market. Didn't have any problems with people bugging me to buy stuff. I just smiled and told them no thank you. Had a few kids come up and ask for change--don't give them any or you'll have a whole group of them coming at you.

Hope I can relax and let myself be pampered. For some reason I have a hard time doing this. I've taken three cruises before this one (all on Carnival) and I've yet to order room service. I am determined to order room service at least twice on this cruise--wish me luck!

My DN (10) Caitlin is looking forward to this and is hoping there will be someone her own age to hang around with.

When you get your papers from DCL let everyone know here, so we can all start obsessing about ours. See ya all soon :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

:confused3 I still haven't gotten my packet in the mail. I will be giving disney a call when it gets to the 2 week mark. :hourglass I can't remember what the lady on the phone said, about when I should receive it. I have been thinking of putting together a scrapbook before we leave. I have seen some really cute ones, where the pages are already done, and all you do is fill in the photos. :yay: That's my speed. pirate: I also have been looking at all of the cute pirate costumes on Ebay. We have just seen the recent pirate movie popcorn:: and my girls really wanted to see the pirate museum. Their website looks great and it looks like a lot of fun pirate:
I have so much to do before we set sail. My oldest is starting Kindergarten, I have to register for my college classes, register my little one for her fall sports, YIKES :sad2: Did I mention that I work from home and make children's clothes and have 4 outfits to finish. LOL. Wish me luck!! :rotfl2:
Elisa :wave2:

My documents have not come either. I wont start to worry unless everyone on here posts they got theirs and I haven't got mine yet!!
I didn't know the pirate museum had a website, I will have to do a google search for that.

Happywanderer....I know what you mean about relaxing!! I have a hard time doing that myself, thus the cruise. I figure I can't obsess about cleaning the house or doing yard work if I can't see it!

Elisa....Good luck getting your outfits made. I feel a little stressed also knowing all I have to get done before we leave. I can't wait to step on that boat and leave my worries at home. :cool1:

             The documents finally came.!!! Thanks goodness. I don't usually use my front door. We always come into the house thru the garage. So yesterday I went out to sweep the front walk, and there it was, sitting up against the front door. :thumbsup2 I had thought that I might be upgraded to another category but that's okay. I also went and had our sign for our door made. It looks great. I can't wait!!! :yay: I wanted to let you know about UTUBE. If you go to their website and type in Disney cruise, you will find some videos of the ship, made by people like us. It's a cute way to see a little bit of it before you get there.
Elisa :wave2:

Wow! Haven't received my documents yet...or anyone from my group. I'll have to keep an eye out for them!!!! Maybe on Monday!?!

Hi everyone!

We just booked the 8/20 cruise this evening :goodvibes This will be our 5th Disney Cruise and we couldn't be more excited. We are celebrating our 20th anniversary and will be joined by our four children (DS 17, DD 14, DS 12 & DD 8).

I was happy to see a DIS Meets thread for this date. Looking forward to meeting everyone on the 20th!

Have fun packing :wave2:

No docs for me yet either! :rolleyes1

Disney Poly - wow - you just booked? I am impressed.

No docs for me either--yet. Hope they come by the end of the week, or I'll have to call and find out what's up.

DisneyPoly--wow, talk about last minute. That is great!

Disnutz--isn't the waiting just awful? I wanna start my vacation now!

Let's here from the rest of you lurkers :cheer2:

Some members of our group of 23 received their documents on Saturday. I expect the rest of us will get them either today or tomorrow. I can't wait! :cool1:

Welcome DisneyPoly....Glad to have you aboard! You are the first on this thread (that I have seen) with teenagers....I have a DS13 and DS16. I expect once I get on the ship I wont see much of them. We are all very excited for our first cruise.

No documents for me either. Hoping they will arrive this week. :Pinkbounc
