August 20, 2006 4 nite Wonder! 08/20/06

We will be joining you all too....Hello.

That's myself, DH and DD5. We are all very excited! It's our first cruise. We have a triple decker 'sandwich' going on. Our vacation will be:

3 nights at Vero Beach

3 nights at BCV

4 nights Disney Wonder

7 nights BCV.

Our DD is so excited....our countdown chain is down to 56 days!!! :woohoo:

Does everyone have their reservations and shore excursions booked? I do :thumbsup2 Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!!

I have some things booked. The only thing I am debating about is getting a day room at Comfort Suites for Atlantis. I just can't decide if we want to do that, or just walk around Nassau a litte and spend most of the time back at the ship.

What is everyong else doing in Nassau?

My niece wants to go to the aquarium, so that's what I've booked. Palo's out for me since I will just be with her (DN10), so no reservations there. I was thinking about something at the spa, but I may wait until we get on the ship to decide. O-ooo, I can't wait! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

You guys sound so well prepared! I forgot all about the fact that I can book excursions, kids club, etc., once paid in full. I'd better get thinking about it. But since this is our first cruise, I've read that staying behind on the ship to have it to yourselves to explore is a good idea (for Nassau day) so we might be doing that. Otherwise, the kids club for the kids for sure! Is there a club to put the DH's in too...?? :rotfl2:

We'll be coming straight from Cypress Pointe after a couple of days at Universal and a week WDW.

Other great news is that I've noticed that we've been moved to a secret porthole room from an inside cabin. No complaints about that. Thank you Disney!

Cheers.

Hello everyone!!
I haven't officially booked any excursions, but I am pretty sure I am going to get a room at the Comfort Suites so we can go over to Atlantis. I think my sons would be disappointed if we went to Atlantis and they couldn't use the water park area. From the pics at the Atlantis web site, it looks fabulous and tons of fun for kids. Overall, I don't think the cost of the room is that expensive for three people. I think we also will go to the Hard Rock cafe and maybe a few shops in Nassau.

As for Castaway Cay, the kids have talked me into the waverunner excursion. I can't recall the offical name of it....maybe eco tour. Also, they are going on the teen only excursion which sounds like a lot of fun.

Happy planning! :cool1:

Hi! We are first time cruisers (me, DH, DS13, DD9). We are cruisin' with 20 other people (all 1st time DIScruisers) , so we are planning on having a blast. Didn't think I would find a post with our cruise date :cheer2: See you all on board! :goodvibes

:cheer2: Yea! We're finally going on our first cruise. I live in Florida and have been to WDW many times. So this is the next step for our family. My girls are 3 and 5 and they are very excited!! Is anyone else traveling with little one?
pirate: Does everyone have their pirate gear ready? I'm wondering if the adults dress up too for the pirate dinner.
Best wishes eveyone, Elisa, Ireland (5) and Alexis (3)

Well, I'm bumping this up in the hopes that someone else on the 8/20 Wonder will see and join the fun. Doesn't look like anyone is that interested in a dis-meet, but maybe we can wear the traditional lime green ribbon and meet each other that way. See ya all there!

:) Happywanderer....I'm so glad you bumped this up, I thought our thread was dead!! I'm interested in a DIS meet, even if it's only a few people. Maybe we can get a few more interested on here!

pirate: Castle creations....from what I have read on these boards, adults dress up also for pirate night, but I don't think anyone would feel out of place either way they dressed for pirate night. My teenage boys already said "no way" to dressing up so I probably won't either.

:sunny: Welcome TSTEWARTFAN....sounds like there will be a lot of first time cruisers on this trip, I can't wait!

Bumped again--Hi TSBRN (that RN doesn't mean you're a nurse, by any chance?). Maybe we could schedule an informal meet at the Goofy pool at around 2-ish? Anyone interested can wear something lime-green so we know who is a dis-er or not. I'm planning on going to the pool after we board so I will be there whether anyone else is, or not. I am looking forward to going, but other things in my life right now are kind of stressing me out. I hope I can relax once I get on board.

WHO IS READY!

Sounds like this is going to be a great cruise. I just pulled it back up to read, but we are not going, now. Our plans changed, to take the nephew to wdw, for 2 weeks, and needed to go earlier. So didn't want people on here to think, we didn't want to do the dismeet. I have been on 2 cruises, and never even hardly got anyone, to talk on the thread, let alone a whole dismeet. When I started this thread, we where very early, and not much of a reply at that time. You will all have a great time. Castaway Cay is beauitful in august. As it turns out we will be returning home on aug 19th, and i will be thinking, they are all getting ready for our cruise, and will be thinking of you all.

Have a great cruise, mky princess: (who is an Rn). ;)

:cool1: Happywanderer---Yep, I am a nurse...20 years now (gosh I'm getting old!). 2pm by the Goofy pool sounds like a great idea. Now I have to find something lime green, that is one color I don't think I have. We were planning on doing the same thing, boarding early and going right to the pools. Well...pools for my sons, I wont be caught dead in a swimsuit in public.

:sunny: mkymouse4ever---sorry to hear you aren't going on the cruise but I'm sure you will have a great vacation at WDW!!

mkymouse4ever--sorry you can't make this cruise, maybe we'll meet another time.

TSBRN--about the lime green, I think I have one shirt that might qualify. If not, I may take the suggestion of someone else on dis and buy some goofy lime green sunglasses--or something else of that color that I might be able to find at the dollar store.

And btw, I'm in a related medical field. I do professional fee auditing and billing for a teaching hospital. And I can't believe I've been doing this for 25 years! Gosh, time does fly. And about the bathing suit--well I like to swim so people will just have to deal with me in a suit.

How old are your sons? I'm taking my 10 yo niece, this cruise is her 10th birthday present. I hope she wants to spend some time in the Oceaneer Lab so I can have some adult time. But, I am looking forward to spending time with her also--10 is such a nice age.

Looking forward to going and hopefully meeting other dis people. :cheer2:

happywanderer....my sons are 13 and 16 (those dreaded teenage years!).
Your niece is at such a great age, I bet she will have a wonderful time. What a nice Aunt you must be to take her on a cruise!

The lime green sunglasses are a good idea. Next time I'm out I will have to check out all the lime green accessories.

Counting down the days till we cruise!

I'm with you on the whole swimsuit thing. I have spent way too much time in front of the television :happytv: and not enought time :yay: exercising. Oh well. I have now upgraded to the "egad!!" swimsuit with the skirt.

We can't wait to go as well. We made a calendar and we are counting down the days. :Pinkbounc
Best wishes, Elisa

Well my "family" will be there too!!! My own DS's will not be joining me but we still have 15 people going!!! It's a second time for my sisters and their families (that's a total of 6 for one - 51, 46, 30, 24, 14 and 8 - and a total of four for the other one - 39, 39, 14 and 11), myself (54) and my Mom (74). We're bringing along my brother (56) and his two (18 and 12) for their first cruise EVER!!!

Most of them are heading down earlier to spend a couple of days at WDW. Since I'm going to WDW in October with my DS's for the MNSSHP, I decided to fly down just for the cruise. So, I'm flying down the day before, bunking at the POP for one night and hitching a ride with the group to the port!!!

Can't wait!!!

Castlecreations---I hear you about the exercise. I tell myself that today is the day I will start, then I get home from work and am too tired. Oh well. There must be a lot of people who like exercise since they put gyms on cruise ships. Wish I was one of them! :yay:

Magic me---I bet you will have a blast cruising with your family. I always wanted to do that, but no one on my family likes to travel or cruise except myself and two sons....go figure.

Magic Me - looks like you are traveling with a couple of kids that are close to my DD age (12). Are your groups' 11 and 12 year olds girls or boys? I was trying to arrange some meets so that she had a buddy.

I am interested in the Dis meet - don't have any lime green, but it is my sons favorite color and he has about 5 shirts in lime green. i will make him wear one! As long as I can drag the little one away from the Mickey pool, I will try to meet at Goofy.

I am getting so excited!!! :Pinkbounc

Diznutz - the 11 and 12 year old in our group are my nieces. The 11 year old has cruised before (4 day on the Wonder) but she was five at the time. It's the first time for the 12 year old, in fact she's the reason we all booked again. They didn't go with us in 2000 and we've talked so much about it that she's been working on her dad (my DB) the last couple of years and he finally asked if everyone wanted to cruise again. Well we were just waiting for him!!! We would have liked to do a 7-day but he wanted to hit the parks for a couple of days and since it's their first cruise ever, he wasn't sure whether they would like it or not. So the 4-day was perfect!!
