I'm sorry, the cement mixer sounded disgusting...and I am not picky. I'll eat or drink most anything, except will not touch well-done meat. At the Art of Entertaining they served a small sample of rare tenderloin...about 90% of the audience didn't even try it...it was sooo good !!!

As to the book exchange...I'm thinking that about a month before the cruise we could post what we intend on bringing...that way we can plan our book buying...or does anyone else have ideas ? I don't want to bring a ton of stuff and then find there are great things to swap, but on the other hand I don't want to bring one book and find that there isn't anything to read. Have any of you read Michael Korda's "Other People's Lives" ? He talks about being in India and running out of reading material, and finding a source for English language books...hysterical. Actually "Other People's Lives" and "Charmed Lives" are both wonderful...the latter is one that has been on my bedside table for 25 years because it never fails to make my laugh. A newer one is "Ambulance Girl" by Jane Stern...one of those that DH made me stop reading because my giggling was shaking the bed.

Happy 69th izzinmac.
From your photo you don't look like you're much more than 65 to me.... WTG!!! ;)

Cheers,
Grumbo

Happy Birthday Izzinmac!!!

Hope you have a very special day!!!:bday:

Here's to hoping that you are aging like a fine wine!! Thunderbird and three year old Mad Dog come to mind!!!

:scratchin:

Being a probable mostly non drinker, the family will gladly tell about Mom and the giggles, I think I will be trying the ones that have little or no taste of alcohol. I have to agree that the cement mixer sounds like a no try. But those Smurf ones really sounded good. :drinking1:
As to the book swap I actually bought one this morning that I might bring. Some woman has written a sequal to Jane Austins' Pride and Predjudice. So far it is a good read.
Happy Birthday Izzinmac! and many to follow. :bday:

Talk to you all tomorrow. On page 170.
Estelle :earsgirl:

I'm going to give the Grape Crush a try when I do my weeky bar trip this Friday. Sounds Yummy!

I have a feeling that my bar tab for this cruise will be a new record high for me! LOL

Happy Birthday Izzinmac :bday:

This poor Disney ship isn't going to know what hit them! :earsgirl: :earsboy:

Panama Canal fact of the day: In the Panama Canal, the main hazard is the waterway itself. The pilot must instruct the helmsperson exactly when to turn and by how much. The Canal, in places, is less than 600 feet wide and for Canal authorities, there are few things worse than a grounded ship. Ships maintain a speed of about eight knots (about nine miles per hour) through the Canal to ensure maneuverability.

Estelle -
I'd be interested in a book sequel to Pride and Prejudice. I think the book swap is a great idea. Do you think the kids would like to have a swap too. I know my DD would like a book swap. Think about it.

Hey Scratch, I know your not Jason, silly! I'm just not very good at using the quote button.

Happy Birthday IZZINMAC:cake: !

How come the May cruise gets to be pirate: 's and we are the :jester: 's? I have to admit it did catch my eye in our cruise thread title. Tell me again, why? My DH already thinks I'm nuts. I think I'll wait on telling him the "theme".

I noticed a few weeks ago that the other 14 day cruise had sorta picked a theme for their cruise. Last I read they were going to do a pirate thing.

I think we need a theme. We are a more intellectual group, with a lot more culture. You can tell by the depth of some our postings!!

So I propose we go with a classical theme...even found a painting to go with it!! I think our group's theme ought to be

SHIP OF FOOLS

sandygirl ~ I believe this is how it started. BTW, the quote thing I only learned recently myself. You go to the post that you want to quote, then press the quote button. And Voila! It automatically has it in your reply. I still haven't figured out how to do more than one quotes.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY IZZINMAC! :cheer2: :cake: :cheer2:

Anybody like reading Stephen King?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY IZZINMAC. Just think, only one more to go until we cruise!

Ok, I'm thoroughly bummed ... DH has somehow "lost" our Panama Canal by Cruise Ship book :(

I LOVE reading Stephen King Books. He's my favorite. I think I've read them all.

Thanks for all the Birthday greetings. At my age, I wasn't planning on announcing it, but my big mouthed daughter just had to put in her two cents worth!!

BTW - Grumbo has me as 69 YO. That is in Metric. 61 in regular measure! Still bad!!

Happy Be-lated :bday:

Can't stop laughing over the Smurf in the hammock, the "toilet" and the other graphics being put on! You guys are toooo much!

Has anyone been able to transfer a stateroom from their name to their relatives name on this cruise? Curious as to how this is being handled.

Rae

The list continues to grow! At what point do we decide to simply charter the ship?

headcount - 447
DISnames - 126
groups - 116
staterooms - 155 (almost enough to fill the 180 rooms on deck 7)

Estelle, dance rehearsals for the 'Ship Of Fools' version of Disney Dreams have started, but I'm not sure if we will have the whole thing ready in time...

Happy Birthday, Izzinmac! and many more ... but only one more before our cruise:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Arlene:sunny:

BTW Izzinmac - you liked my spelling of "colour", huh? I guess you noticed I'm "Canadajen" eh?

Jazzman,

Thanks for the update on our numbers!! WOW!!!!:earseek:

To Everyone else,

Has anyone "officially" notified DCL and let them know the size of our "little" group. (And I am not talking about warning them of the need to double stock the alcohol!!) With numbers this impressive there should be something special they could do for us! Does anyone know someone "important"? I honestly think we should assign a group spokesman and see what DCL would be willing to do for our group!! Anyone willing to step up to the plate and go to bat for us?
