I'm still learning with my D70! But, we'll go on photo shooting outings with Sandra. And, we can check out all the ports for duty-free deals on camera accessories! :teeth:

Hi everyone. We have a digital camera but it really stinks in low light and I want to get another one. I'd like to get a nice camera that also takes video with sound. Can anyone recommend a brand and or model? I know a lot of you have been buying new cameras recently! If you don't know a specific camera can you direct me to a site which would have honest reviews of cameras as well as a site with good camera prices?

If you're looking for a nice point and shoot a lot of people have good things to say about the Nikon Coolpix line. The Coolpix line is extensive with cameras with a wide range of features and price points.

If you want honest reviews I would check out Digital Photography Review. They review just about every new camera that enters the market and outline both the pros and the cons of each. They also have discussion forums where you can find out the good points and bad points of each camera from actual owners.

Finally, good deals are to be had out there. (Just ask RobinMarie!) If you don't mind shopping on the internet, I would certainly check out B&H Photo. They're a store out of New York but do extensive mail order and internet order business. They generally have some of the best prices around, have an outstanding reputation for customer service (I too can vouch for them on a personal level), and have just about any camera you could ever want. Plus, unless you live in NY, you don't pay sales tax! It's like duty free shopping in the U.S. ;)

I may be able to provide more specific suggestions if you let me know what kind of money you're looking to spend and what specific features you would like in a camera. And, I'm sure others will have many suggestions too.

The newsletter is up! If you didn't get an e-mail from me, check your spam filter. I did have a little mistake with the second batch I sent out (s-z), I forgot to put a subject on the e-mail.

Don't forget to check out the Troubleshooting section on the home page if you are having problems getting the page. It will not do me any good to resend you the link.

Enjoy!

This is the first newsletter that I was not able to put in everything submitted to me. Keep sending stuff in! We won't have a problem filling these newsletters!

Robin - thanks for all that legwork you did for Kathy - I might jump in on that SD500 deal too. I have been thinking of getting the A95 but for less than $100 more I can get a 7.1MP camera rather than a 5MP.

Tracy - once again - AMAZING job on the newsletter. Honestly girl - I dont know how you find the time to do everything you do.

On the vaccination topic, thankfully the bad reaction to the Hep A vaccine seems to have been a 24 hour thing. I am feeling much much better today - hopefully my kids will have no reaction like my DH did when they get theirs on May 11th.

By the way Robin, did you look here to purchase? I am wondering if they are a good company. Their price is $369

Believe it or not Kathy, this is my first personal digital camera purchase. Because I've had my Canon EOS SLR for so long, I never bought a digital camera because I did not want to upgrade constantly. I have bought one or two for work that are fine. Victoria has an unopened 3.2 camera to 'play' with and will be able to do so as soon as my new computer arrives.

I have never used that vendor - sorry! Glad you are going to make a purchase, I get the warm fuzzies when others SHOP!

You are most welcome - I really 'borrow' most of the info from slickdeals.net - love that site!

Thanks for the vacc. info - we are both getting them soon!

Kmiles -

My boss wants a Nikon D70

What would you recommend for a vendor?

He also wants a 20-85ish zoom lens. What do you have?

The newsletter looks great Tracy, unfortunately I only had time to skim over it but I'll read it completely later. Thanks for all your effort...Mark
