I tried to get into CHAT last night but couldn't. Oh well. I'll try again another time. Anything good happen?

Darlene

I managed to log in around 7:15 last night, but I couldn't type anything and then got booted out with no warning. :sad2: I was fixing some other problems on my PC and wasn't able to reconnect until nearly 9:00 SORRY to anyone who was in there - I didn't just leave on purpose!!!

For all you ohhh so experienced cruisers I have a question about dresses... How dressed is over the top for formal nights? I have a soon to be 15dd and 6 year old dd who have convinced me to buy them prom/flowergirl dresses and tiaras for all three of us (the boys refuse to wear tiaras or dresses :confused3 ) Will we look like a bunch of fools or since this is the fools board will we be fine amoungst our 500+ foolish friends?????

Any advice?

Thanks Pauline

This is what my girls wore on formal night (see links.....)...they usually wear their prom/homecoming dresses. I am thrilled they always get another use out of them...

We figured you got booted, Arlene. I only stayed there until 8pm and then put Mary to bed and relaxed for a while before going to bed early.

There have been a lot of tragedies lately here in our group and it makes me so happy to see everyone pulling for everyone else. We are all TRUE friends!

If there are any spare prayers and/or pixie dust left, I would appreciate it if you could send some my family's way for my MIL & my SIL.

My MIL Evelyn is in the hospital. It's sort of a long story, but I'll condense. She has had Crohn's Disease (an intestinal thing) for years and years. She has had 8 hernia surgeries over the years. This last hernia surgery on March 1st was non-traditional - she had a mesh put laproscopically in her abdomin (8x10") to shore up her muscle wall. Well, last week she developed an abcess. Yesterday it burst and she went back in the hospital and had surgery again to clean it up. Luckily, the mesh wasn't compromised. She will have surgery again tomorrow so they can re-pack it under sterile conditions. If all goes well she will be home on Friday. Add to all of this, she just found another lump in her breast (had breast cancer a couple of years ago with surgery, chemo, & radiation). She can't do anything with the lump until this infection clears up. This poor woman so badly wants to go on this cruise with her whole family. It is her light at the end of the tunnel! Any prayers, pixie dust, positive thoughts on her behalf will be so, so appreciated. Thank you. (P.S. she lives in Arizona)

Now about my SIL Susan. Well, she just filed for divorce. She's been married to BIL for 15 years and they've been together for 20. They tried to serve him yesterday and he wouldn't answer the door. He's gonna be a jerk about it I can tell. That will make it harder on my SIL and her kids (7 & 11). So, if you could send P & PD her way, too I would be very thankful. She & the kids are booked on this cruise also. I hope they still come. We need our whole family to be together for this family trip!! Even Grandma who is 93 is coming!!

Sorry to post a downer on the thread, but we truly need the good thoughts!!

The beauty of prayer, Nancy, is that its' power never weakens regardless of how long the chain is.

I'll add your MIL and SIL to my list. Can you PM me their first names? My prayer style includes the person's first name and how I came to know of their need. I'm sure my monologues are quite amusing to God some days!

Arlene

Nancy, that is so sad for your family. I know the hospitals in Arizona are good, at least they were every time I went to any of them. Lots of PD that she gets throught everything fine.

And same for the SIL. Divorce is often hard to accept, anger turns even the nicest people into unreasonable beings. I hope that they can work out a comprimise that aloows everyone to go on with their life. PD to her, too.

And TONS TONS TONS of good thoughts for you during all this. We need you and your entire family on this special family reunion cruise. Magical Gatherings? Ha DCL hasn't seen one till they see the SoF Family!

Very sorry to hear about the difficult situations you and your family are facing, Nancy.

We'll be keeping you and yours in our thoughts as well.

Nancy....sending tons of prayer and pixie dust their way.....hopefully the cruise will be a good way for SIL to take her mind off the current problems...Hope her hubby does not give her trouble taking the kids out of country....divorce can bring out the worst in some....

Nancy,

I'm sorry to hear about the challenges your family members face. I am a complete believer in the power of positive thinking. I will be keeping your family in my thoughts. I hope everyone is able to keep their reservations in order given the circumstances.

:grouphug: Nancy :grouphug:

Benita & I add our prayers & PD :wizard: to both your MIL & SIL. Divorces can be ugly, but hopefully the father will realize how much he can hurt the kids by being an jerk. Make sure your SIL - has her attorney get a signed notarized letter saying she has permission to take the kids out of the country.

Sorry I couldn't make it to the chat - but we did pick up the bridal shower gifts last night -

Now that I saw the topic --- I could compare how far along we are on planning..... will post that later...

And a note to the sisterhood!

I was at home this morning waiting for my home care attendant and no one showed up! Which one of you were to be taking care of me today? I am sure that Mark sent out my care schedule to each of you, so who dropped the ball?

Also I have decided against putting my mesh undies, hospital ID braclet and gauze up on eBay for each of you to bid on. I do not want any fights among the sister so I have decided that I will bring the items on board with me and we will conduct a silet auction-no names will be used so no fights can occur!

:rotfl2: Dan

P.S. I think it is time for another percocit :wizard: , the room stopped spinning again!

LOL, Dan!!!!!! Hope you're feeling better........

Prayers will be said for your family, Nancy......

Continued prayers for Mel and family, too.

On a side note--LASIK today @ 3:30-ish!! (As long as they'll still do it seeing as Addison was at the dr.s yesterday and has pink eye!!!!! UGH!).

Nancy, I'm so very sorry for all your family strife. Most certainly, I will add your MIL and FIL and SIL and BIL to my prayers each night. They all need help in their own special way and anything I can do to help that along would be my pleasure.

Dan, I'm so glad to see that sense of humor returning. This silent auction on board could really turn into something. Hey, maybe Mark would add that clothing item from his most recent picture as a silent auction item as well. Now, wouldn't that be a hoot?

Good luck, Amanda, with the LASIK.

NANCY
Prayers for your family and the difficulties you are all facing. Health restoration for your MIL and Peace for your SIL and kids. Everyone needs a little light at the end of the tunnel, hope the cruise stays on their horizen.

DAN
I stopped by today, as scheduled on Mark's home care sheet. Didn't you see me? Oh, that's right, the room was spinning! :rotfl:
Better luck with tomorrow's schedule!

Darlene
