:cheer2: Hapy Birthday to me! :cheer2:

I know it's terribly self-promoting, but since I forgot to e-mail my birthday to Tracy for the newsletter, I thought I should be the first one to wish me a Happy Birthday. It's the big 2-9!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Eileen, oh, those 2-9 days!!! I am the big 4-9 now!! Have a wonderful day. Allan and I will raise a glass to you tonight.

Forgot to mention that we received our name tags on Saturday. They were waiting for us when we returned home from Disney. They turned out fantastic! Thanks so much for designing them, printing them, putting them together, and mailing them!!!

You are very welcome. Glad you like them.

I called all seasons travel to see why my confirmation says I owe an additional deposit of $200 when I have already paid $500 for two people and why I was not told this on the phone when I made the reservation that I would require that (I would have just had them put it on the same card as the original deposit). The guy who answered the phone put me on hold and came back after several minutes of skipping hold music that he couldn't find my reservation and would get back to me. I'm sure they will make good somehow or that something will open up but I'm starting to get a little bit nervous here!

Thank you for all the birthday wishes!

Pam,
I will be sure to raise a glass (or 2 or 3) tonight also!

Thanks again

Lisa....the deposits for the 14 day were more than for the 7 day. I trans-ferred our reservations from the 7 day, and had to pay an additional ....$200 I think.

The other day someone was giving me recommendations re the dolphin encounter/swims.....Aculpulco vs. Curaceo. I can't for the life or me remember which one they recommended......please clue this airhead in again.....Thanks!!!

Lastly, how many people on this thread are also going on the 8/19/06 Magic?? ~Jennifer

I don't have a problem with the extra deposit but I do have a problem with making the change on thursday and not getting the confirmation until sunday night and then losing the reservation when I could have taken care of the additional deposit at the time when I made the booking. But All Seasons has a great reputation here, I'm sure they will get it sorted out.

Here is the official deposit policy

Disney Cruise Line® Deposit and Payment Policy Changes

In order to keep as much "popular cruise" inventory available as possible, Disney Cruise Line is making some changes to the deposit and payment policies. These changes should help eliminate last-minute client cancellations and will help to ensure that more of those clients who want to book a Disney Cruise vacation are able to do so in a timely fashion rather than waiting to see if there are cancellations. These new policy changes will take effect on Wednesday, Sept. 8. The changes are as follows:
The required deposit for all Disney Cruises in the extremely popular suite category is increasing. For three- or four-night cruises, the deposit will change from $200 to $400. For six- or seven-night cruises, the deposit will increase from $250 to $500. And, for cruises that are 10 or more nights in length, the deposit will increase from $250 to $700. In addition, the deposit for room categories 4-12 will increase on cruises that are 10 or more nights in length from $250 to $350.

Deposits for suites for all cruises will be required within three days of booking rather than seven days. Deposits for staterooms in categories 4-12 will be required in five days rather than seven days.
Final payment for suites is changing from 60 days to 90 days, and final payments for staterooms in categories 4-12 will change from 60 days to 75 days for three to seven-night cruises, and from 90 days to 75 days for 10+ night cruises.

Although this policy went into effect after most of us booked, so we are all grandfathered in to the 60 day final payment date and the old $250.00 p/p deposit. Anyone making new reservations after September 8th will fall under the new policy.

Thanks for the official policy. Like I said, I have no problem paying the additional deposit, but I thought part of the reason for using a TA was so that you didn't have to keep track of changes like that. When I changed my booking the TA made no mention of the fact that they would be requiring an additional deposit. She only said that I'd be getting an updated confirmation. I didn't get that confirmation until a few days later and called them on the first business day to ask about it, soooooo. I don't think this is my fault. Like I said, if I had known at the time of booking I would have just paid it then! But I now suspect that the cat 9 that came available sometime last night (and is now gone) was, in fact, mine! Oh well, I was hoping to downgrade to a cat 11 anyway. Let me call all seasons back and see if i can shed light on this mess... no reason for this guy to go nuts trying to find a reservation when I think I know what happened to it.

edited to add: I just called back and spoke to someone else and she said that there have been a few changes from one cruise to the other and Disney did, in fact, raise the deposit, but that as far as she knows DCL hasn't cancelled anyone because of it. She was going to apply the deposit to the card on file and wait list me for the cat 11. So that's that I think. I will call tomorrow and check on the status of the reservation. This is why I rarely use TAs, this way if something gets messed up I onlly have myself to blame!

I don't know how many of you are looking at staying in the WDW area AFTER the cruise, but a friend on our cruise gave me a heads up last week about a deal that is great.
Using hotwire.com and looking at September 3 and on you can get a 3 1/2 star hotel for $44 per night which works out to about $50.70 per night for a room with all taxes and fees.
They don't tell you what the hotel is until you book, but so you know it is the Double Tree Hotel just outside the Downtown Disney Entrance. The hotel website is http://doubletree.hilton.com/en/dt/hotels/photo_gallery.jhtml?ctyhocn=MCOCHDT

This is a great deal especially for a holiday weekend. It ended up costing us $152 for three rooms. :)

I promised I'd wait a few days so they could get all of their family booked in but just checked and there are still rooms left :)

Cheers,
Grumbo

Oooooh, Grumbo, that's a good deal!

Lisa, with all the changes going on at DCL with the repo and California cruises, it's no wonder people can't keep up! Did the DH and his boss have the talk? (I knowit's about vacation time, but when you said it last night all I could think of was the birds and the bees!)

Here is another question that came up in chat last night.

How many SOLO travelers are there on our sailing?

I know of: Me
BobF320

any more?

Not yet, sometime this afternoon! Before we knew that we could switch to this cruise we were considering a vacation in October and he mentioned that when the topic came up (now I feel so dirty saying "came up"). Turns out the boss wants to take a vacation in October also and he thinks that DH wants to talk to him about who gets to go in October. I said that's good, you can do "the good news is, you can have October... but here's what I want in return." The boss is at a meeting until this afternoon though. Now let's hope I actually have a stateroom!

From Grumbo's Page 1 list it looks like you can add:
  • disneymusical135
  • Octopussy
  • Suecot2000

Last time I checked Octopussy had a traveling companion. If not, there may be some trouble at home this evening. :teeth:
