We actually just bought this house last april after living in MD for a few years, Houston before that, we both went to school in Troy and I'm from Brooklyn, he's from Rockland. We absolutely LOVE it up here. A good friend of mine moved here first and after looking for houses in Westchester we came up here to get more for our money! I am an old house fiend (I'm getting my Master of Architecture and Historic Preservation) and we bought a 125 year old Queen Anne and couldn't be happier here.

My DH wants to know if you have had any ghost sitings yet, since those old homes in NY have a history of that. He loves that kind of stuff. :earseek:

We are back from Hilton Head and I am all caught up. We had nice weather and Kaleigh got to go on her first bike ride (on the back of daddy's bike) and loved it! We also built sand castles and went to campfires. Looking forward to going back.

Denine, I just love Hilton Head and the campfire ! We really enjoy that resort. Did you get a chance to go over to the beach house?

Does anyone have any experience with Independence Air? I just realized that they fly into our local airport and their price is great! We'd have to give up a direct flight from MCO, but then we wouldn't have to drive 1 1/2 hours to get home either! I found some reviews online that were very positive.

(I know, I know, JGE probably offers door to door service and might even include the parachute, but we'd prefer to stick with a...er..."more reputable" company.)

I flew them last weekend to DC, I would be VERY LEARY of buying tickets on them for September. They are bleeding money like there is no tomorrow, and are not expected to last till the end of MArch. Whether that means total disolution or just chapter 11 reorg, no one really knows. They used to be the United connection, but UAL dumped them, so after a year or more of haggeling with creditors, the FAA and all, theyt began flying last year. THey fly mostly 50 seat regional jets, so no carry ons, except small stuff. THey do a lot of "Hub" flying through Dulles, and have 6 flights leaving from the same gates at the same time, it is an interesting way to board. Honestly, if you can wait, maybe somebody else will cut their fares, but if you do decide to Fly I, charge it on a credit card so that if they do go under, you can get the cash back.................which won't help if you are stuck in MCO.

Thanks Marsha, that's exactly what I was looking for...though, I wish it was better news. The reviews that I saw focused on the service, but not the health of the company. I'll keep an eye on them. Their schedule doesn't go past August (maybe it never will,) so I don't need to decide just yet.

Mark - when the Alaska cruise season comes around I think we have a winner - something the other excursion places don't. A plane trip that looks at local animal life both above and below the ice!

A nun, badly needing to use to the rest room, walked into a local Hooters.
The place was hopping with music and loud conversation and every once
in a while the lights would turn off.

Each time the lights would go out, the place would erupt into cheers.
However, when the revelers saw the nun, the room went dead silent.
She walked up to the bartender, and asked, "May I please use the
restroom? The bartender replied, "OK, but I should warn you that there
is a statue of a naked man in there wearing only a fig leaf." "Well, in that
case I'll just look the other way," said the nun. So, the bartender showed
the nun to the back of the restaurant, and she preceded to the restroom.

After a few minutes, she came back out, and the whole place stopped just
long enough to give the nun a loud round of applause.

She went to the bartender and said, "Sir, I don't understand. Why did they
applaud for me just because I went to the restroom?" "Well, now they know
you're one of us," said the bartender, "Would you like a drink?" "But, I still
don't understand," said the puzzled nun. "You see," laughed the bartender,
"every time the fig leaf on the statue is lifted up, the lights go out. Now, how
about that drink?"

Janet - How is that Cruise Ship Tycoon? I got it from David for Christmas, but I haven't installed it yet. PLMK! Thanx!

Happy Presidents' Day to our American Friends!

I wish it was a holiday here - there was over a foot of SNOW to shovel this morning (and no plows had visited our court yet either) :earseek: So much for weather forecasts - as of 11:30 last night, The Weather Network claimed there would be 2-3" for our area!!!

Mark - you may as well sign Martin up for "The Brotherhood" now! We were at a party on Saturday night with his old university friends. He was taking a lot of photos and handed me his wine glass to hold while he was busy. THEN he cheerfully told me I "was in lots of pictures holding TWO wineglasses". He wanted to know where to post the pictures "for all my cruise friends". :teeth: Sure ... Like I'M gonna tell him! :rotfl2:
