August 20, 2005 - L.A. to Port Canaveral - Eastbound Repo Cruise - The SHIP OF FOOLS Part 2

I just posted on the cruise board on a posting titled Panama Canal Excursions or something like that. I thought it would be nice to have one thread discussing the ports and excursions so that the info doesn't get lost in a huge thread like this or the Westbounder's thread. If you are interested in talking ports or excursions don't you think it would be nice to have a separate thread for it?

Put me down for 3 lanyards and nametags!!

Also--I noticed the youngest age for pricing on the excursions is 3 years old. Does anyone know if any allow a 2 1/2 year old. Like for just the beach ones?? I'd rather go to a beach through an excursion rather than on my own and risk getting lost or missing the ship---but I also want to bring my daughter! Just wondering if anyone knows the answer????!!!!????

Bob had said that was the only reason he was going on the cruise Amanda. He said his mission in life was to babysit for two weeks. Actually he and I have our place staked out in the Mickey ear. We're charging our drinks to Mark's room and going to sit there everyday and look after the kids :)

Cheers,
Grumbo

You get a freebie since she's under 3. We brought Haley on some excursions last year and didn't have to pay for her since she was under 3. You should still check with DCL just to make sure, but that's how it was for us.

Can everyone that is interested in the receiving the name tags please email me with the first names of everyone that wants a nametag and your email address so I can email you the file.

This will make sure that I don't miss anyone.

Thanks,

Reneé

Your profile doesn't allow emails. Do you want PM's?

well that was a big DUH! I meant PM me the info but I typed email. Oh well, looks like I need more coffee.

Thank you, Renee. Sending my info soon.

Oh dear Grahame--if my father sees your response about baby-sitting, he'll spit out his drink laughing (or is it drool?). Anyway--while I know he won't be volunteering to baby-sit the whole time--he did suggest that my mother, Heather, and I do the Tea w/ the Ladies while he watches Addison. (Remember--this is the same Tea that Jazzman said he'd rather eat wings and drink beer served by a girl in a Hooters uniform??). Well--I think I can semi-deliver on that request. You men can ALL help my dad watch Addison in the Mickey Pool (snack on whatever free chicken tenders you want while ordering beers on your own tabs). I will get her a Hooters uniform (since at her age it should be the right size!!!!) and she can splash away under your watchful eyes. So you get all 3--beer, chicken and the Hooters babe--or should I say baby.

*****Oh and don't forget that one of you will need to be on Diaper Duty (not to be confused w/ Diaper Doodie.....you get the idea!). No one likes a child with a diaper rash.

(This is a joke--I would never actually put her in a Hooter's uniform! Unless of course I get 50% of her tips..........j/k!)

Hey I'm up for an hour or so of babysitting.
We'll hold the little mites in the adults whirpool from the waist down to clean off the doo doo.
As long as you ladies are enjoying yourself a couple of hours out of 14 days isn't too much to ask of the guys. Jazz has two daughters, I have a daughter and two sons. Look at Bob's trials and tribulations in raising kids, yet he seems somewhat unscathed. You're talking about "experienced men".
You name it Amanda I'll help your dad. :)

Cheers,
Grumbo

P.S. I'm serious. I truly don't mind.

I'm finally back!!!

It's a good thing I subscibe to Jason's version of trip reporting. Does anyone really want to hear about our exploits anyway?? Mark

For the Brunch & possible dinner at Palo's - this will be our fourth cruise and we have never eaten there. There will be two of us. :cool1:

Heh -- all those Sea Days will come in handy so we have time to do everything of the ship.

Erica

Great!! I may just load her up on blueberries, beets, and broccoli (oh--and corn, too). Wouldn't want to make it too easy on you guys. Of course--I'll have to remember to feed her those items the day before--just to make sure the timing is right.

Yes Mark - we want to know have everything went

During our shortened Hurricane Frances cruise - our mantra was - next time we will be on board for 14 nights ....and have plenty of fun.

Welcome home. I'm so sorry to hear you didn't get to Castaway Cay. We missed Grand Cayman once and went to Costa Maya instead which didn't bother me at all. I would be very upset if we missed Castaway Cay. For me that is the highlight of the whole cruise. Were there any special activities for the extra sea days?

Hey Mark welcome back :) Yeah lets hear all the gruesome details.

Amanda I make an honest offer and you try to force feed your poor daughter food items that may have terrible consequences on her digestive system. Shame on you.

Cheers,
Grumbo

Those who followed my trip updates probably figured things were going wrong for us so we were due a run of good luck. No Chance!!

We were off ship by 7:45am and went over to Avis for our car. We were on the road by 8:15 heading for MCO. With some quick thinking we decided to call the airport and reschedule an earlier flight. Sandy called Southwest to make arrangments and it took her about 25 minutes to finally reach someone. The earlier flight was wide open and she transfers our ressies, so she thinks!!! We get to airport and race to ticket counter to check in and find out Sandy only transferred her ticket over and now flight is booked completely. We're 4 hours early for our flight and we're first in line. for our 1:50 flight. At 1:55 they tell us they are closing Islip Airport and we're cancelled. Every, and I mean Every hotel within close proximity of the airport is completely booked. I go to Avis and ask if I can have my car back since I paid for a complete day and they said yes. I decide to try Hard Rock and they were booked solid but Royal Pacific had room. We got a room and headed to Universal Studios Park. Sandy has 7 left over tickets that she swears have 1 day on them and 1 even has 2 days on it, SHE SAYS!!. Now we all know Sandy's batting average here. Guess what folks?? The tickets have NO days left, except 1 that she thought had 2 but instead had 1 day left. I decided to renew my families annual pass for 106.00 each and off we go to US and IOA. ...Mark

Hmmmm.
You have family annual passes for Universal? Wow. Are they usable elsewhere then Mark, or is that $106 for everyone?
Me thinks Sandra may have a different version but this one is pretty good so far :)

Cheers,
Grumbo

That price is for anyone, I think!! Last year and the year before that we paid 99.00 for our AP's.

If you ask her, the girl on the phone screwed up, but then again EVERYONE messed up on this cruise except her!!

I was getting the car when she went for the luggage at MCO. She forgot to get all the bags!!

I was busy getting our boarding assignments at the desk. So it had to be me who forgot to check that missing piece of luggage, or that darn skycap must have stolen it!!(so Sandy says) Guess what?? It was still in our bedroom. We never brought it to the airport!! Now I'm gonna burn those damn WalMart shoes!!
