August 20, 2005 - L.A. to Port Canaveral - Eastbound Repo Cruise - The SHIP OF FOOLS Part 2

As far as the itinerary goes, if you compare the times in port from Western to Eastern cruise (based on the times published on DCLs site) we will have half an hour less at Cabo, 3 hours more at Curacao, and the same amount of time at Castaway Cay.

We will be at Acapulco 14.5 hours more than the west bound cruise, but they get an extra 9.5 hour stop in Mazatlan, which means we're still up 5 hours more. All together a cruise that is 7 we'll have 7.5 hours (total) more than the western cruise. Of course I wouldn't mind leaving Acapulco around 10 or 11 pm, and then having those extra hours spent in another port.

But since it looks like the ship is pretty much in port at least an hour before getting off and probably the scheduled onboard time is before the actually leaving time, I'm not sure if it would be worth it to go to another port for 5 hours.

Like many I'm just happy to be going through the Canal. I do think that many sea days in a row may cause problems though. It's nice that Panama will be mixed in there for a change of scenery, but I bet after 5 days on the ship and not getting off people will be a bit stir crazy.

Did you take into consideration that we will be losing hours because we are going From Pacific to Eastern Time Zone?? That may be the 4-5 hours difference. The Western Cruise gains hours.

WOW!! that is really something!! Good for her on her sucess on weight loss!!!

Look for my PM!!

Sorry to read about the turmoil in some of your lives.

We are still looking into t shirts, iron on transfers and whatever.

Change of ports, I will roll with the punches for now. Gosh, it is so far away that it could change again. Right now, 5 days at sea in a row sounds heavenly but ask me when we are actually on our 5th day how I feel! We are traveling without kids and that makes a major difference.

Congrats to Hazel. I want to lose before the cruise as well. We have a cruise coming this October but I know it won't be off by then. It HAS to be off for the Panama Canal because the heat and the weight don't go togther.

There is a good possibilty that we may have to cancel out on the 8-20-05 cruise. Hazel and I have taken over my mom's Florida mortgage payment for the next three years to help her out. We are still weighing our options, but we have to put my mom first, before any vacation.

We'll keep our fingers crossed for you Andy and hope for the best.

We just cancelled our cruise, Andy. We tried to make some changes to our reservation and it just became an wild beast in costs.

Decided to cruise 9/4/04 - yes, in one month, to compensate for the depression of not getting to go on this one. But at least I'll have a few past cruisers with me, my "sons" - Jason and Travis and friends Paul and Kaye! That does seem to help.

Wishing you all the best!

Rae

Yes, VM! We hope everything works out for you! It wouldn't be the same without you!

So sorry to hear of so many hard times! We hope things will look up for everyone!

Maybe this isn't the time to ask, but I will. If anyone is cancelling a secret porthole room please let me know.

Sorry to hear you are cancelling too Rae. I was looking forward to meeting both you and Andy.

I am soooo sad!!!:sad2: How can we celebrate the 50th birthdays with out the birthday kids!!??!!

Andy and Rae, I hope something changes and you are able to go. If the circumstances don't change, I will miss you both terribly. I feel like I just got kicked in the belly!!! I totally understand that family comes first!!! If there is ANY possible way I can do ANYTHING to help out, PLEASE ,PLEASE, PLEASE let me know.

Sorry it was supposed to state a cruise that is 7 hours shorter has 7.5 hours more port time than the western cruise. I was talking on the phone and trying to type that post at the same time, and my brain wasn't telling my fingers what to do very well. Yes, I took into account that it's a shorter cruise. However the timezones won't change while in a port so we still have more port time.

:sad2:

Really sorry about you Andy. And now Rae too. I was looking forward to meeting you Andy. And Rae I was looking forward to getting more time to get to know you. I do understand about family and they come first always.
Had a hair cut thiis morning and have now got very short hair. Told DH this was a practice cut for next year. My oldest DD happend to be home when I got here, after the cut. She was not impressed. Said it would take her a long time to get used to it.
Off to work. Can't wait to see what they all say.

Oh, oh........... this cruise is suddenly not looking the same without Andy and Rae. I really hope things work out for both of you so that you can go with us. It just won't be the same without you!!!!

That being said, I agree that family does come first. Wishing you both the best.

No no, Not Andy and Rae!!! I was so looking forward to meet both of you!!! I wanted to meet this famous shrimp lover and Andy, you can't miss this...we need you for the Show along with Jazzman, Grumbo, Mark, and Jason!!!! :(

Well, i understand....Who knows it may even happen to me that i have to cancel!! You never know what the next year will bring...

Well I guess there will be a few hundred happy shrimp.

Sad to see people having to cancel, however family and finances have to come first.

Andy -- you still have plenty of time to cancel and get a full refund. Can you wait to decide until 60 days out? Hope it works out for you and your family. Was looking forward to meeting you
-- maybe see you at the next DIS meet!
