Bob & family - izzinmac: Glad to see your sense of humor re: Kansas and wishing you the best - cannot believe what you all have been through. Prayers to you all.

Grumbo - You are right about our ports here and weather...just don't call upon one of our famous earthquakes during that time...NO!

Ocean Blvd. is much closer to San Pedro ports than the Long Beach airport. We live close to both, so if you need any help, let me know.

HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY TO DENINE's KALEIGH!!!

Renee' - piglet33: Hugs and pixie dust for NO HURRICANES during your upcoming cruise travels!

Has anyone ever transfer the DCL ressies to AAA/CAA?? there is a special going on for $150 stateroom credit for cat 1-9 plus some money off the cruise price for cruises 7 night or more.. . I am thinking of transfering there. I don't ususally go to TA but if i can get stateroom credits it will be worth it. The AAA office is not far from my house and we want to start paying off the cruise little by little....When we have extra $$, we will stop there... We don't want to get stuck with a HUGE chunk of bills on June 21, 2005!!!Maybe i have them find me a good deal on the airlines too.

Barbara, How far is the Budget Location to the port??

jeanne, have fun with your cowboy date!! Don't get tied up by him...YAHOO!!! LOL!!!!! :hyper: :teeth:

GRUMBO: That couldn't have been our picture since this is our FIRST DATE!

Getting a little nervous:scared: about this first date.

Well I better not be on the computer when he pulls up. He may not even have electric for all I know.

Toodles :wave2: :earsgirl: JEANNE (not the hurricane)

Good luck on your date, Jeanne! I remember those days of "first dates" ...

Don't forget we love vicarious living here - some details when you get back would be nice:jester:

Hi all

Just a couple of things I checked with the budget rental in Long Beach and they do have a shuttle to the cruise ship pier at San Pedro, also if anyone is interested I booked a reservation at the Sheraton San Pedro for $109 for a concierge type room with continental breakfast/snacks and they have a free shuttle that will take you to the port

Budget does not charge a one way return fee like enterprise

Also Willie at the Hojo is awesome was able to get a room the 13-19th for 84.13 a night (disney view with balcony)

Now I have to wait for tickets to come out for Jet Blue out of Boston which I figure will be in Jan or Feb, and disney and universal etc tickets

Also if you have 3 people it is cheaper to use a towncar from the airport or pier with Karmel

I hope all these Hurricanes will be out of mother natures system by next year

Carol

carolsherman- I asked this once before and don't remember if you replied, but are you the person who had to cancel on our last cruise (1/17/04)? I guess we will be sailing with you this time!...Mark

There's no way I'm buying my plane tickets this far in advance. I'm still deciding that I'm going to go on this cruise - I'm going to wait and decide later this Spring. Also, I don't think the prices are necessarily going to go up that much.

I do have reservations about cruising in August. I grew up in Hurricane Country. Although I think this many hurricanes hitting in such a short time is a fluke which is unlikely to be repeated next year, we do have an excellent chance of running into storm-related changes in our cruise. I'm already feeling unsure about the number of days at sea that we're having - a change in the itinerary could really torpedo this vacation. Although I'm really looking forward to 2 weeks on the ship and the Panama Canal, I'm hoping that DCL announces some really great changes for all of those extra sea days or adds another port or both. ::yes:: ::yes::

Hoping our latest hurricane is going to be kind to our friends in FL. Weaken, baby, weaken!

I am with you on that!! ::yes::

Carolsherman: thank for the info regarding shuttle from Budget. That is good to know...
hotel and car now taken care of...Now any word regarding DL tickets?? As far as i can see, i still can't buy the park tickets for next summer! What's up with that?? :confused3

Well, we decided this was too good a prank to let pass, so we now have my roomies mom believing that there is a naked deck party and we are attending...she wants to go, but won't go naked!!! She is afraid people will go blind... The best part is, she believes her daughter & I will go naked and Ms Locklear we ain't.

Of course, she insists in Alcapulco that the cliff divers will dive for pearls for you....you just toss your token in and they dive into the water, find the token and then bring you the oyster closest to it, and there is your pearl....

No, I am not kidding....

Laura:earsgirl:

:rolleyes1:

Laura, Maybe you could convince them that there will be a competition during the nude deck for the best and worst bodies.
Or that the divers occasionally give a lucky winner the chance to dive off the cliffs? Just seems like there are too many great ideas that could go along with this.
Maybe Aztec treasure? Or pirate treasure? Or the best one for this crew...free martinis!
Hope everyone who is cruising this week has a great cruise with NO hurricanes. Florida and the Carib. have had enough now.

Estelle

I hope all our Floridians out there are ok. I can't believe this is happening to you guys again. Stay safe!

One factor about airline costs, is Fuel prices, in the UK all of the airlines are slapping on an extra surcharge for fuel, I booked my flights to the usa when it was £5 Per person that went to £10, and now £12pp on some airlines, whilst a lot of you will travel a shorter distance, its worth considering if you think fuel prices will stay the same or increase more with the unrest in the middle east.

I DID transfer my ressies to AAA after making them with Disney at first because I wanted the $150 soda credit. Plus my AAA offered me an extra $100 credit for transferring my ressie. And you get all their little amenities (pins, etc.). So I would definitely go to your AAA and check with them. You will need to bring proof of your ressie (letter from Disney, reservation no.). And make sure you get something in writing from them about the onboard credit. I always like to have that paper trail....

DonnaDavid -- AND OTHERS... I urge (as I have several times before on these threads) that you write/email Disney about your itinerary concerns for next year. I know for a fact that at least 20 people have already sent letters and emails about the amount of ports versus sea days we ended up with next year. After being on the "lost at sea" 8/28 cruise, I now know for a fact that that many days at sea are TOO MUCH for anyone -- whether you like sea days or not. We watched people literally climbing the walls by the third extra day at sea because they were so bored. I speak from experience -- it really does get to you after a while when you can't get off the ship and just do something for a few hours.

We are not, however, considering cancelling -- the Panama Canal still sounds like an exciting experience. But we really do wish Disney would add at least one more port. I sent them a letter about this with the itinerary of three other cruise lines who do the Panama Canal. All of them have a minimum of 6 ports (not counting their own islands). I think four ports and 8 days at sea is a lot.

So, write to them and let them know -- they apparently do listen from past experience.

One port I have experienced before between Acapulco and PC is Puerto Caldera in Costa Rica, the country is bounded by Nicaragua in the north and on the south east by Panama.

There was a number of trips there, it is refered to the switzerland of central america, as far as I am aware its safe, does take cruise ships, two Princess ships were present when I was there,

THE TOURS WERE
costa rica and capital San Jose, but that was 10hr's, a little town of Sarchi 4 hours, Pacific island cruise 8 hours, Carara kingdom of nature biological reserve 8 hrs, and a rain forest trip.

Cutting down the time in Acapulco, might give enought time for a stop here.

I am repeating this as I am sure some of you will have recomendations. Thank you.

I really don't think that the overnight stay they gave us in Acapulco to compensate for removing Puerto Quetzel is so great. The ship departs at 7:30 a.m. the next morning -- so you don't even get any time the next day. That addition will only benefit those people who are night owls and like to party out late.

You are right -- if they left Acapulco that night, we could surely make another port somewhere!

Again, they won't know how you feel unless you tell them! The more letters and emails they get, the more they will be aware.
