August 2, 2011 disney dream

I just booked today for myself, DH37 and DD8! :cool1: This is more than we usually spend on vacation, I've done this a few times today. :scared1: We have NEVER cruised period, we are more "freestyle" vactioners, but couldn't resist the Dream! :lovestruc

No kidding come on tax return! We had to get 2 staterooms because they evidently don't have any 4 person rooms left. :scared1: Send me pixie dust people so that someone cancels and I can get one cabin vs. 2. Of course kids are the opposite our own room sweet. :cool2:

Ok up to 61 posts. Lets get things going here. When we went on DVC cruise we had 2 full threads. It was crazy trying to keep up. If you have never cruised (this is our second so far from experts here) I would suggest going on the thread from the last dvc cruise. The lady that started that thread is amazing with all the information she has. I don't know how to link it but if you click on my screen name and go to statistics and then my posts check out the dvc members take over the wonder thread. You can go to thread one or 2 and the first couple of pages give a ton of information.

Ok question to start things rolling: Favorite Disney Show and why:

Fantasmic: I don't want to give anything away for those that have not seen it but at the end with Mickey's entrance and exit gives me goosebumps.

I'll play! Favorite Disney Show: World of Color Why? Maybe because it is new and different, maybe the sheer size of it, maybe the way my kids reacted to it. I saw it twice on my last Disneyland trip and loved it!

ETA: My ticker is counting down to the day we leave home and spend our pre-cruise night at the Poly! I'll take anything I can get to shorten the time.

I'm trying to change my room assignment because of all the negative reviews on the staterooms on deck 5 above evolution. When I called they said that there were no 4 person rooms available but I could get 2 rooms with 2 persons each. They were not going to assign me cabin numbers but would give me to GTY. Does not make any sense. So I kept my cabin (at least for now)

Jham

I have heard it is excellent! Thanks for playing along. Cant wait for trip!

is evolution in the front or back of the ship? We are near the front.

Just booked for our 20th anniversary! :cool1
It will just be me 42 and DH42. Our anniversary is August 2.

We are cat 9A so no room assignment yet.

Congratulations, we are celebrating our 8 anniversary on August 2 too. And like a few others we stay at the Beach Club before. So exited:rotfl:

Our families favorite Disney show is:PhilharMagic -seems to always put us in a great mood when at the Magic Kingdom-

My wife and I love A Bug's Life but that stilk flips our kids out everytime -Hopper gets to 'em!

It seems like a lot of us are staying at the Beach Club prior to heading out on the cruise -we should all plan a night to meet for some adult beverages and let the kids get to know each other -Scooter is a seasoned pro at the Beach Club maybe he has an idea of where....

Once this question runs its course I will volunteer to pose a second question! This certainly helps with getting through the looooong days of waiting! Thanks Scooter for getting it started!

Although I might add that my family still thinks the street play in DHS was pretty good, I got picked to be part of the play in Love Me, Love Me, Love Me -and its on film.... Personally I am surprised I didn't get a lot of casting calls from that?? :confused3

And honorable mention goes to The Hoop Dee Doo Review -always fun and worth the few extra bucks to sit up front, our DS who is 12 was picked last year to be on stage -so I guess we like the interactive ones as well!

Ugg snow day today here in central maryland and no new threads:sad2:

I was there for Coachycp performance and I want to thank him for the torn abdominal muscles from laughing:rotfl:

We are staying in Boardwalk prior to cruise because I did not request BC soon enough. Anyone want to trade. Actually we have not stayed there yet so a new experience. I love BC especially the pool. Gotta find a way to get into the pool. HMMMM I got it get on slide and then I am in. Did you know you can watch fireworks at ep from the bridge that crosses from bc to boardwalk. Ok gotta go shovel some more. Hopefully some will jump on thread discussions.:thumbsup2

Me again! I was last here back in posts #23, 24, and 27.

Sorry for the long absence!

We are getting more and more excited now that the ship has actually launched, and we are hearing good things about it!

A few quick questions that I thought someone might be able to help me on:

1. We are regular Castaway Club members. Does anyone know when the windows open for us to book Palo, Remy, spa and excursions? I guess I could do the counting backward myself, but I was wondering if anyone had already worked it out.

2. How do we book those things listed in #1? I assume we go online somewhere?

3. Last time we cruised, we rented a car and drove to the port and stayed at the Radisson the day before our cruise. I am going to do that again, but I can't remember which car rental is the closest to the hotel. I remember that DH drove the car over and returned it, then walked back to the hotel and we all caught the shuttle to the port. Can anyone help me with the rental agency?

OK, that's about it for now.

Can't wait to be out at sea!! :woohoo:

Deb,

Can't help with the rental car issue sorry. In regard to question one if you go to DCL web site and log on with your cruise confirmation/registration number it will give you dates when you can make reservations. This is our second time on DCL and I think our window opens May 4th. 90 days out. Hope that helps and welcome back.

Scott

Cool, thanks, Scott! I had a panic attack, and was afraid I missed the deadline. It appears I still have some time.

I'll go and post my question on the regular Cruise Board.

OK friends, I just read through the entire thread and it seems we have a lot of great celebrations. Birthdays and Anniversaries are always cause for celebrations but with DREAM I'm sure it will be something to remember. In 2009, my husband and I had our Vow Renewal ceremony on the Magic. I'm crossing many fingers and toes everyone gets their wishes for special nights!!!!

About my favorite show - at the parks it has to be Fantasmic. But I am really hearing good things about the Villans show on the Dream. We've been on other cruise lines before (my MIL paid and there were over 20 of us cruising) and the shows do NOT compare so I'm sure Disney will put on many good shows.

Do they even have fishes for exchanges on the Dream? My DD (now 9) LOVED the exchange and we'd love to be part of it again. Anyone else for it? On our last cruise, we were a bit naughty and the adults who were game got special PIRATE RUM mini bottles. I loved picking out things for boys. Having none..... It was fun to get presents for them.

DD9 even made a friend for "life" on the last cruise using DIS Boards. Anyone else have a 9ish little girl willing to exchange pre-emails (being safe, we could use these boards if you prefer)? I'm sure the 18 year old will make friends on her own.

Ooops! Sorry I did not see this.

OK, as for us, this is our 4th or 5th Disney cruise - we lost track! We have done the 3 day Bahamas, the 5 day Bahamas, the 7-day Eastern Carribean, and the 7-day Western Carribean.

However, our last cruise was in 2006, so it has been a while!

REALLY looking forward to the new Dream ship!!

As for our favorite show, I think that would have to the Illuminations: Reflections of Earth.

Wow, a lot more folks joining in! Welcome aboard! I'm back in the beginning of the thread, cruising with DGD16 for her sweet 16 present. That is, if I don't lose my job................if I do, then we will spend 10 days on land.

Staying at the BWV before and after the cruise!

Favorite show is Illumination. I love to direct the orchestra!

Sending pixie dust for your Job.

We are staying at BWV before cruise. Have never stayed there but that is ok will add it to our list. The only DVC resort we have not stayed is BWV and Tree houses. Wow we are insane disney people. :woohoo:

Do you think I can talk DCL into coming to Baltimore and picking me up? Have to get plane tickets soon or won't be able to afford them. Maybe I can start walking now and make it there in time. :rotfl:

I was thinking the other day that I also love the lion king show at ak. Don't tell anyone but the finale brings a tear to my eye. Oh no Coachycp will use that against me when I am yelling at our baseball team. Glad to see some more people are joining in the thread. Should we start a new question. I think Coachycp offered to come up with a new one.

Meanwhile, I've seen the Lion King Broadway show 5 times on 2 continents. DH and I share tattoos from the show (I got baby simba and DH has the big one).

More Pixie dust for Kathleena for her Job. We had no Disney trip last year because DH had lost his. :tinker:

We are staying at the Beach Club on points before the boat and SSSSSHHHH:tiptoe:, because the Sunday was a blackout date for the airline, we get one EXTRA day at Disney my family doesn't know about. BLT!!!! Only one night so I chose the theme park view.
