On our last cruise we participated, I got the kids little present bags (like you see when you go to a birthday party). I loved shopping for boys. I have none.
For the adults, we decided you were either "rummy" or not. The adults who chose to participate in rummy got an airline bottle of rum. The different kinds were fun to exchange. If you didn't like Rum, I opted for giving small scented anti-bacterial gel from Bath and Body Works as we were in the midst of the flu that stopped the boats from docking in Mexico so it was happily accepted. We got first aid kits, coloring books, stickers, beads and temporary tattos for pirate night, etc. We also got magnets on our door made especially for the cruise that we have on our fridge to this day. Since we were renewing our vows on that cruise, some gifts were wedding-themed. I even got something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. We gave out invites so everyone could watch us, drink champagne, and eat cake (YUM). I bought a fish extender online (I am NOT CRAFTY AT ALL) but you don't even have to. I'm attaching a photo of ours.

Inexpensive and fun and I'm only dropping off gifts once. I'm going PIRATE THEMED on this one! Its easy these days to find cool little trinkets for pirate stuff at party stores.
It was a lot of fun to come back to our room almost every day and see PRESENTS. Our DD (6 at the time) was especially pleased.
I've decided to "close" Fish Extender additions 30 days before we set sail. Some people are crafty and need time. Some people are headed down early (like us) and won't be online the week before we set sail (but I bet my blackberry will be on Disboards a bit).
Thanks so much for the info!
I am strongly leaning toward joining this "fish extender" group - sounds like fun and a good way to get to know people! We are non-drinkers, so we would be in the "non-rummy" group.
Can you let me know where to find these online? I can't sew worth a darn.
