August 2, 2011 disney dream

On our last cruise we participated, I got the kids little present bags (like you see when you go to a birthday party). I loved shopping for boys. I have none.

For the adults, we decided you were either "rummy" or not. The adults who chose to participate in rummy got an airline bottle of rum. The different kinds were fun to exchange. If you didn't like Rum, I opted for giving small scented anti-bacterial gel from Bath and Body Works as we were in the midst of the flu that stopped the boats from docking in Mexico so it was happily accepted. We got first aid kits, coloring books, stickers, beads and temporary tattos for pirate night, etc. We also got magnets on our door made especially for the cruise that we have on our fridge to this day. Since we were renewing our vows on that cruise, some gifts were wedding-themed. I even got something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. We gave out invites so everyone could watch us, drink champagne, and eat cake (YUM). I bought a fish extender online (I am NOT CRAFTY AT ALL) but you don't even have to. I'm attaching a photo of ours.

Inexpensive and fun and I'm only dropping off gifts once. I'm going PIRATE THEMED on this one! Its easy these days to find cool little trinkets for pirate stuff at party stores.

It was a lot of fun to come back to our room almost every day and see PRESENTS. Our DD (6 at the time) was especially pleased.

I've decided to "close" Fish Extender additions 30 days before we set sail. Some people are crafty and need time. Some people are headed down early (like us) and won't be online the week before we set sail (but I bet my blackberry will be on Disboards a bit).

Thanks so much for the info!

I am strongly leaning toward joining this "fish extender" group - sounds like fun and a good way to get to know people! We are non-drinkers, so we would be in the "non-rummy" group.

Can you let me know where to find these online? I can't sew worth a darn.

Regarding Pre-cruise meets at the Beach or Yacht Club resort, we would also prefer August 1, we are open re timing, don't know what we plan on this day, but since it is the 5th day at WDW we might enjoy a more relaxed day.

Hey, and August 1 is our national holiday, so be prepared for some national anthem singing, yodeling, and other typical swiss stuff :dance3: Just joking. We are so excited and I see that I am much too late for some planning on the Disney Dream. I try tonight, but I doubt to get what I wanted, lets see.

Last time in 2007 we also did the fish extender and it really was great fun. :cheer2:

:grouphug: from Switzerland.

I found mine on eBay. Just type in Fish Extender under search and I'm sure you'll be provided with some. BUT - you don't even have to sew them or order them. I saw a Fish Extender on our last cruise that was a hanger with pillow-case attached. Their kids decorated it. Very cute and no sewing involved. Hanger, Duct Tape, Small Travel Pillow Case....

If any of you were lucky enough to rent a cabana at the family beach but is not sure if it is really worth it, because the do not need all the space, we would be most happy to share, we are 3 in our group, me 46, my husband 45 and our little girl 7.

My husband was diagnosed with skin cancer 3 years ago and has to be very careful with the sun.

:worship: and greetings from Switzerland

I love Fish Extender Exchanges. It lets me plan EVEN MORE!:woohoo:

OK, we are officially joining you Fish Extenders!
I just ordered ours from Tiffany Harwood on eBay. Anyone have her make yours? She has some really neat looking ones on her eBay page.

As for our information, here it is:
We are in Stateroom 9156
DH Eric
DW Deb
DD Jennifer, 20
DS Mark, 16

Looking forward to meeting you all!
Oh, and as I mentioned, we are non-drinkers. Hope that isn't a problem!

Can you tell from Chef Mickey picture that Doug and I have on the same shirt and we didn't even call each other. Don't think for one minute that our wives let us live that down. We will coordinate better on this trip. :rotfl2:

Does anyone know if there is a "character breakfast" for the cruise?

As far as I know, the "character breakfast" is only on the 7-day and longer cruises. They need 3 different mornings where there is no reason to get off the ship so usually this does not happen on the shorter cruises.

Tiffany did ours and she does a great job!

Love the pictures Scott! Thanks for sharing.

It was fun going through pictures. I loaded all our pics from our Disney trips on our Mac and I have to say it was a little sad seeing how my boys have grown since our first trip in 2004. They still get excited but it is not like the first trip. Probably my favorite time does not include the parks at all. My fondest memory is probably sitting on the second level of wilderness lodge lobby on one of the benches overlooking the lobby and whispering canyon reading a book to tim and matt. Another would be going to the top of wl and watching the boys raise the flags especially the American flag.

I am happy to say that I have taken off about 30 lbs since those were taken. A little worried about eating at wdw and the cruise. Will have to utilize the exercise area. I am not going to fret over it. I love ohana shrimp steak pork and the turkey is Devine, and the desert oh my. Has anyone tried the new restaurant at Mexico or Italy. When dw and I went on members cruise we ate at ep and the Mexican rest. Inside and the steak taco's were awesome. I had the pizza from the carryout area of the Italy rest. And to be honest our school cafeteria has better pizza. :confused3. I have heard that the sit-down brick oven pizza is fantastic though.

I am so ready to go! As far as meet on Aug. 1 we have ADR reservations at ohana:confused: will have to see.

Tiffany did ours too! She even made pillowcases the girls could get the character signatures on. It had the cruise date and special things (Taylor got Tinkerbell and Mack got princesses)

Does this mean you guys (Doug and Scott) are Baltimore Ravens fans?:scared1:

We ate at La Hacienda (new table service restaurant in Mexico) during spring break and really loved it. I made the ADR for 7:30 so we could eat and then watch Illuminations from the restaurant and it was a lot of fun. They dim the lights and pipe in the music just like they do at California Grill. We will be doing this again this summer.

Hello all!

New to the board and first post. We are on for our 4th and our DD's 2nd. Birthday cruise for the Mrs. and a much needed trip back home to Fla! We have a 04D on deck 6. How many total cabins so far from the DISboard are confirmed? It should be a great cruise!

Robert
