August 19, 2007 Disney Wonder

Thanks Jen and Terri! I updated the list.

Looks like there are a few of us staying at the Poly. I am not a coffee drinker--DH lives by it. but I am up for a meet. I am sure we'll be there a time or two or three or...getting coffee. :coffee:
We get to the Poly the morning of the 15th. Lee Ann aren't you staying up the beach at the GF? Care to join in?

I have a dumb question(being the newbie I am) Which deck is the Promenade deck?

Dana

10 nights at the POLY before the cruise ~ WOW!!! How lucky are you!!! We are arriving on the 16th. We will be at the Poly from the 16-19th, the cruise from the 19th-23rd and then the kids and I will be back at the parks until the 26th, but this time at the BC. My DH has to go back to work!

I would love, love, love to meet at the pool for a drink while the kids enjoy the pool. I have 2, a 13 yr old and a 9 year old. How about you? The more the merrier!!

Terri

DS is 12 and DD is 8. Love to have them meet up sometime there. We have ADR on the 15th and the 18th. Otherwise we are open. I am still planning which park when phase.
Dana

Sounds great to me too! We are at the GF from the 15th. Let me know when everyone is planning on getting together. If the timing works, I would love to join you! Is this a girls only event? Or are your children and/or husbands going to be in the area?

Thanks for the passport info....we applied on 4/24 and still haven't received them yet. I think I will give them a call tomorrow. I really wasn't worried until a friend of mine, who is also passportless and cruising with us, reminded me that they had our original birth certificates as well!!!! What a mess!

The Promenade "lounge" is on deck three right next to internet cafe and parrot cay restaurant.

Another question - is anyone going to the Pirates & Princess Party on the 18th? We bought tickets for the event and are going to the Bippity Boppity Boutique in DTD for hair styling & tiara's that afternoon.

Thanks Joe--since I'm the one with the wristbands - Hate to not show :rotfl:

As far as the meet - I'm sure the family will be somewhere lurking by me. But if timing is right DH would probably shove me out the door. (would have had too much of my OCD :lmao: )

I think that Dale -n-Chip are going. I thought about it but we are going to the Spirit of Aloha dinner.

This is a great souvenir idea - did you see the thread about bringing photo mats and having the characters sign them? They look really wonderful! Some were black with silver signatures and others were white with multi-colored signatures. There was even one that was white with black signatures and then mounted in a black frame. I think Dizzyworld, you had a red "DISNEY" photomat posted that was really nice! I can't wait to get mine back from guest services!!!

I saw Shirley's post on that thread. I added that to the "shopping list" ;)

Has anyone done the Luau? I read some bad reviews and now I am questioning it. Of course the kids are looking forward to it. So I would have to do something great to replace it like the pirate and princess party.
Thanks
Dana

Dana I think our husbands will have a lot to talk about!! I am really obsessive about vacation details. I will have my family in tow, as well. I need my DH to see how fun a WDW vacation can be. We were on the Magic for Halloween in 2004 - awesome, but the last time we were at the parks was in Dec 2000!!! We only got him here this time by dangling the cruise!!
He's awesome and a lot of fun, very easy going and always up for anything, so I shouldn't complain, but a little more Disney would be nice!!

yes we need to pair them up! Our last vacation I obsessed with planning. he just rolled his eyes. Then said it was the best vacation when we got home. Now I am dropping hints of rebooking on board. (wish me luck) Disney is all I talk about right now( well almost). so sometimes he says no more Disney tonight and rolls his eyes. I am hoping to get home and have him say the same thing as 2005.

I have also dropped hints of DVC. He has asked me "are you serious? do you really want to?" Anyone have anything to say that can sway us on that one?

You can talk to Cathy of Exempt5 about DVC. She bought a few years ago and is very happy with it. They are staying at Saratoga Springs this year (their home resort) for the first time....the last few years they stayed at BCV to be nearer to us. The villas are really nice and spacious. I even did laundry once at her villa when my DS made a real mess of himself a few years ago. Nice feature, to be able to do a little wash and have a small kitchen too. One year we actually watched the Epcot fireworks from her balcony at BCV. My husband and I considered it, but can never seem to sign on the dotted line. Never thought we would be going to WDW this often, but the DCL has kept us coming back year after year. (PS - I'm not too fond of flying so I am sure that has alot to do with me not signing:guilty) Talk to Cathy!

The ones I am talking about were just plain white or black photomats bought at Michael's for a few dollars.

Oh no!!! NO Disney tonight, I have a headache!! That's terrible! My personal opinion, rebooking on board is your best chance of getting him to rebook. You (and the rest of your family) are in for such an unbelievable treat on board. It is so wonderful, you just don't want it to end. One of my best friends swears by the DVC. She and her family love it. She went to Disney quite a bit before joining DVC last year and is getting ready to go for a second time with DVC. She loves talking about it and is a Disboard member, so I'll get her over here for you.

She's right...we have booked onboard the last two years and you get a stateroom credit plus 10% off if you book category 4 through 12. Plus, you can always change you mind (unless you book Cat 1 through 3) and get your deposit back. We are actually booked on a cruise for next September and will check with onboard booking to see what they can offer us (better price/onboard credit etc).

Lee Ann, I am not a good flyer either (but I'm the best lander on the plane)!! I took a free online fear of flying course designed by a pilot and it really helped. I'll find the web address and send it along. I still bring my best friend Mr. Xanax, but he really allievated a lot of my fears. He even walks you through the noises and has a download you can put on your ipod to help you during the actual flight.

I love the flying parts. Its the take off and landings I don't like. I am a nurse and never thought of Mr. Xanax or Mrs Ativan. (always think of it for the patients tho :thumbsup2 ) I just grip the armrests.
