WISHING ALL MY CRUISING FRIENDS A VERY HAPPY AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR!!! WE WILL HAVE AN AMAZING TIME IN THE MED IN 2010!!!!pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

I hope everyone had a happy new year! Dan and I just got back from WDW and it was a blast but very cold (granted not as cold as here in NY but cold for FL.). We cruise this year:banana:

Actually from what I heard from family that live down there...it was indeed as cold as it was here...hope it didn't hamper your good time.

Yes cruise planning is underway....we have to pay our balance in March and then in April can start booking our excursions....

I'm very surprised this board isn't more active, for a ship that didn't get discounted because it sold so well, I would think there would be more people on the board at this point...

Happy belated new year all. Well I now oficially feel that we are going. :cool1: Even though we booked this cruise on board in november of 2008 I did not feel in planning mode since my DH was not willing to book flights. Well I finally wore him down and our flights our booked. I am super excited to try and catch up with everyone in terms of their excursions and pre and post hotels. We are booked on the non stop continental flight out of Newark on monday the 16th returning the Sunday after the 29th. I think there are others on those flights if I am not mistaken. Can't wait to get started and learn all the good info people have already compiled. I remember reading earlier that people were doing private excursions in certain ports. I don't know if I missed the boat on these so to speak, but would love to hear ideas of what people have compiled. Also does anyone know what date we can book spa, palo, excursions for the cruise? Is it based on Castaway club level now?
Susan

Hi Susan,

We're flying out and home with you. There is someone else on our flight too...just don't remember right now. We have our 2 private excursions booked....see Kim (minniedivs) about Rome and Lori about Florence, they spearheaded those. I have booked 2 rooms at the barcelona hilton for the day before and day after (but those are placeholders that my husband got) until I have time to decide if I want to stay elsewhere - other than that we haven't done much else. We need to decide on other excursions because we get to book ours in April, but we can't talk when the kids are awake because they don't know about the cruise.

That's one thing I would ask anyone we meet before the cruise (ie at the airport etc.) My kids only know that they are going to Barcelona, they have no idea about the cruise. I was actually going to tell them until we went to the ship. I hope we can keep the secret, I want to capture the look on their faces when they see the Magic in Barcelona.

I just hope it warm up by March, we're going down for Spring Break only 72 more days!!!!!:cool1::cool1:

Hi Susan and welcome aboard!!! I'm the one with the private excursion to Florence and Pisa, email me at jelbnl@gmail.com if you're interested in joining us. We plan to climb the tower in Pisa, then it's off to a day in Florence. We're flying out on the 14th to Paris, then flying into BCN on 8/17, then home on the 29th also, but we're flying in/out of JFK. We couldn't get the CDG BCN flight booked through Continental, only Air France and Air France didn't have a non-stop home from BCN into EWR, they have a code share Delta flight into JFK, so we're making the trek from not far from Mindy in central NJ.

I wonder if it is that booked? One of my thoughts is that they gave us the credit to pacify us in the event that they do discounts later on. I figure that as soon as final payments are due that they'll get a better grasp on how full the ship will actually be. I think they kinda hosed the Med cruises...with schools all over the country getting out late and/or starting early, many people are limited to July as being a safe month to travel. Had I still lived in CO, we would have had school out before memorial day...unless there were a ton of snow days added. And here we don't start until after labor day.
Anyway, I personally think that's why the Baltics are more active. That and it's different for all the cruisers who did this 3 years ago.

Still haven't booked my air. Soon. Had to book for a quick trip in April to see some family.

Pretty well know what we'd like to do on the excursions. The only hang-up is whether we take DD with us in Naples or not. DH and I would really like to do Mt. Vesuvius, but DD too young for that excursion. And who knows what will be available once we finally get to book. Sigh.

I am, however, planning my wardrobe!! I've been looking at my favorite catalog and need to do some shopping!

I think our cruise is pretty booked up. I keep checking daily for cat 4's to open up, since we're a GTY trying to get a cabin assignment, and so far NOTHING!!! I also check the other cats and a lot are also in GTY.

Huh. I wonder what they would do with you if no 4's opened up. That would be a nice upgrade!

:rotfl2: If you get the Walt suite you know we're all going to come and gather there, right? :rotfl2:
Disney is all about dreams, right?

Of course!!! We already have a party in Mindy's suite, so IF I get lucky, they'll be one in mine!!!!!
