As for our excursions I am thinking of renting an electirc car in Key West and seeing the sights that way.
In Nassau we are doing the Atlantic Adventure.
The rest of the time we will go with the flow.

I think July 31st makes sense. I still have to make/get our FE...DD would like to make it but I'm just wondering if that's a little ambitious.

BIGMAMA My DD is 14 also and another cruiser SAILINGSEAS is traveling with a daughter who is 13 (almost 14 at the time of sailing). Both girls are planning on hanging at the teen zone. We will have to get them connected with your daughter if she is interested. Feel free to send me a PM or have your daughter send one to my daughter (Megan) using this acct. and they can introduce themselves.

It's funny..we are VERY excited about the cruise but we don't want to rush it because then our summer is basically over - our kids go back to school on Sept. 3rd. So we will patiently wait with excited anticipation.

I think it is realistic to be concerned about the weather as far as hurricanes go. I personally haven't been on a cruise this time of year....it will be our first, but I asked a lot of questions before I booked. We have a teacher friend who sails all the time in August. She has sailed during 4 hurricanes and only once did it impact her cruise. She said that usually the captain is able to sail around the storms and it was never a big issue. As far as the heat...I've been to WDW in August and survived but we will be at sea and the ocean breeze should feel good....plus if it is too hot there are LOTS of things to do inside and it is always nice in the ship!!!! Just my 2 cents. Hope to see you on our cruise

Thanks for the info. We are planning on doing the dream in April but it just seems so far away. My mom recently passed away and I think the girls need something exciting. Maybe just something to take their mind off grandma a bit. Will post back when I make a decision.

We have sailed twice before in August. It is hot, but there are many ways to cool down. As for the hurricaines, the ship will sail to where they feel is safe. On our last cruise, the hurricaine did cause us to be a little late getting to Nassau as other ships were diverted here. However, this wasn't a big inconvenience as there are plenty of things to do on board.

Very last minute, but I just booked for this August 17 cruise. After taking our first Disney cruise last year, my family is on pins and needles to go back. We are booked on the Dream for next summer (2011) but just couldn't wait.
The price for the cat 12 with a gty was so reasonable, I just booked!!

Anyway, is it to late to be part of the FE? Also, I'm not sure of our room so how would that work?

It will be myself, husband and two sons, 7 and 3. I can't wait!!

Hi fellow cruisers! We've just booked this week, too. Another family that couldn't pass on the cat 12 GTY. We'll skip the FE exchange. Please, no offense intended to anyone but I'm determined to pack as light as possible.

DD(15) and I are now working on the port plans. Looks like a girls shopping day in Key West, possibly Blue Lagoon in Nassau, and a lazy beach day floating on our mats at Castaway.

Unfortunately, we had a major expense and had to postpone this sailing. I am sorry, but that did open up our Cat 12; looks like there were several that jumped on it! Thank you Ken for all your hard work as well. I am so wicked bummed not to be going to all the new stuff in Castaway Cay, and look forward to many, many trip reports and photos!

We upgraded our porthole view to a veranda . So for the FE exchange, we are currently in a gty stateroom (not 2144 as previously posted). I will update as soon as a stateroom is assigned.

Getting really excited now as we have just a little more than 2 months to go.

Hello everyone,

We just jumped on the Cat12 deal ... couldn't resist. We did the 4-night Wonder cruise in January and LOVED it. We've been looking for an opportunity to do it again.

I would love to do the FE, but I don't think we're going to have our room # in time. I'm not sure how that works since they didn't assign us to a specific cabin.

Anyway, just wanted to say hello. Also, if anyone has a tween son, I would love to hear from you. My 12 year old will be with us on the cruise and I'd love for him to meet some other boys. I know he'll enjoy the cruise so much more if he has kids to hang out with. I'm not worried about my 6-year-old; she can make pals anywhere.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. We moved the deposit to one of the European cruises next summer. It is killing me that the Cat 12's now are 1,000 less than when I booked, and it's teasing me LIKE CRAZY. If I didn't have a stupid axel to fix, I would be so tempted to move it back. I really adore this itinerary.

Kimber, you should find out what your cabin assignment is in plenty of time for the FE to happen. They won't leave you in GTY status until the end; they need to make their own internal assignments for staffing and safety drill assignments.

We haven't scheduled a cut off for the FE so feel free to join in. Happy to have you. It's nice to see the list of people growing...makes it so much more fun! A few weeks before the cruise, if not sooner, you will get a room assignment....just post it and we'll know where to find you! See ya in August.
