Hello all.
I just want to thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers. My FIL passed away on Friday evening. The family is going to be trickeling in starting tomorrow, and we are going to have the funeral on Sat. It has been an emotional rollercoaster. But he is definitely in a better place now. Thank you all so much!

So sorry for your loss. Condolences to you and your family.

My deepesy sympathies to you and your family. It is so hard to lose a loved one and know they are in a better place. You never get over missing them, it just gets a little easier as time passes. Prayers and pixie dust coming your way.

Had to search way back on thread #2 for the discussion we had regarding a day pass to the Hilton in Nassau!! Anyway... we have decided to go with the day pass here. For us it came down to the pool - we like to be able to swim around and that just isn't going to happen onboard.

Did anyone else opt for the Hilton?

We booked the Hilton too!! Seems like a great deal and all of the reviews I read looked good. I had the same thought about the pool on board that day.

I'm glad that we will have another family going. I think that beth is also going.

Here are some more fun questions for us to chat about in addition to what we are most looking forward to...

EXCURSIONS!

At this point, I don't think we are doing any excursions but I am always interested in investigating ideas. :goodvibes

1. What sort of excursions have people done in Nassau before that they have enjoyed?

2. I was looking at the Island Marketing site that was posted and know that some of you are looking at beach options. Has anyone every done a snorkeling and sailing excursion? On our last cruise we were suppose to go to Tortola and had a wonderful day-sail excursion on a catamaran reserved...never got to do it because of our itinerary change. Guess I still wonder about finding something like this in Nassau but wonder if it would be as beautiful or if it would be worth it. I would LOVE to hear if anyone has done a day sail excursion in Nassau (not a short little Disney one though).

3. DS is really interested in parasailing at Castaway Cay. I think it is really expensive for such a short little experience. Has anyone done this and think it is totally worth it?

Of course I am still holding out that by chance I will get a cabana....:rotfl2:

Feel free to share about what you think the best excursion was that you ever did! :goodvibes

We did the Atlantis in Nassau and loved it. The price was much lower 2 years ago through Hotel.com. Now, it's just way too much money to spend for the day.

DS and DH did the parasailing in CC and they really enjoyed it. It's one of those things that you do once. They felt it was very safe and well run. We felt it was worth it.
They just walked up and did it, not reservation ahead of time.

Candy--I am sorry for your loss. it still hurts.

Our cruise is less than a month away, and there's still so much left to do! Now that the cruise is getting that much closer, what is everyone excited for? I'm looking forward to some fun and sun, and getting to experience all the wonderful entertainment on the Dream. And the food too. Love me some cruise food!

I am looking forward to everything! Being off work for 1 1/2 weeks. Relaxing time with my family. Seeing friends I haven't seen in almost 2 years. Did I say being off of work? Being pampered--someone else making the bed, planning the meals, cooking, and cleaning? Did I say missing work?.:rotfl2: It's been a rough year since our last vacation--work consumed me until I stepped down from my leadership position in March.

Jen--enjoy your time at the lake and with your DS.

Hi Chuck! :wave2::wave2: He means it when he says he's tall.

So true Randy! I can't wait to see all my old friends and then meet all of the new people here that I feel like I have been getting to know so well.

I think I am looking forward to everything EXCEPT the whole boarding process! :rotfl:

I'm looking forward to meeting you guys too. Wish I would have started posting sooner.

It's Tim's birthday on Saturday and he requested a day in the city... he generally never asks for anything either! Forecasted temps for Saturday are around 100 degrees, too. :scared1:

When you say city- I assume New York. At 100 degrees?. Can't you talk him into going to the shore?

I went parasailing once. It wasn't at Castaway Cay, but in St. Pete, Florida. I thought it was an amazing experience and plan on going again at Castaway Cay.

So sorry about your family's loss even though you FIL is at peace now and no longer suffering. I hope that you are all coping as best as you can. Our thoughts are with you.:grouphug:

We are getting close to having to start thread # 4........WOW, we have been a chatty bunch!!

We've done the Dolphin swim, Dolphin encounter and observer at it's Blue Lagoon on various occasions.
Toured Atlantis including the Dig.
The pirate museum.
Went around to the jewellery stores picking up all the free samples of semi/precious stones.
Passed by Senior Froggs (even though we don't drink)
Did a private island tour.
And our favorite was doing the Segway and Beach experience tour.
All these have been on various trips to the Bahamas.

Parasailing on Castaway Cay was great. I did it in Tandem with DD14 in April.
If it's windy they will cancel the tour. The tour was totally worth it. BTW if you go, let them dip you (just your feet) into the water while sailing, that was awesome.:yay:

It's nice to see a couple of families from this group heading over there!

On another thread someone posted pics of the pool crowds on the Dream! My kids love to swim around not just stand in a pool with a crowd full of other people :rotfl:

When you say city- I assume New York. At 100 degrees?. Can't you talk him into going to the shore?

Yup! We'll just be ducking into as many indoor places as possible :rotfl:

We're headed down the shore the following weekend. I personally can't stand the Jersey shore - just my personal tastes/preferences. But you do make a good point - it'll be much cooler there than the streets of NYC!
