I would like to participate in FE but I know nothing about it. When is the last day to participate?

Is there a place to buy the FE or do I have to make it myself, I'm afraid I don't have the skill to create one my self.

What usually people put inside it? Do I have the give the souvenir for every member of the family or just one per family or ??

As far as I know , some people buy the FE thing on Ebay ...
I bought mine in a Disney store !!!
:confused3 MHO is that it would be nice to gift a little something to everyone in the cabin ; specially IF there are kids , they will be so excited to find many surprises !!!!! BUT I guess that how many gifts you wish to give ... :thumbsup2 is entirely up to you !!!!!

I had my grandmother make mine, but I signed up my brother and I just bought him a red and black felt bag that I will hang on his fishy with some Mickey heads on it. Some do a pocket per family member, others do less (mine is a two pocket), or even just a bag.

As far as giving goes, it's up to you. The last one we participated in we received some stateroom gifts and some kid and/or adult specific. I personally will be doing both-something for the kids and something for the adults. Some cabins only have adults and it was suggested that they break off into their own group at one point. I believe Kristen is waiting to see how many cabins that would be. She is trying to keep the groups between 20-25. With such a big group (and big ship) I would only deliver once (some do a little something each day) but I'm guessing that we'll be assigned a day to deliver your gifts to spread the magic throughout the cruise amongst the participants.
 
I'm still leaning towards running the 5K... though I think it's going to be at a moderate pace as I fear the temps by 9:30AM in mid-August will be outside my comfort zone! :sick::scared1:

I did a 10 mile training run last week and the temps were close to 80 in bright sunshine. I didn't feel too great.... :eek: Tonight - mid 60s, same route, sun was setting - I felt great.

I agree with you about the heat!!! I don't do well in heat either!!!

DH asked if he could bike the 5k, I told him I didn't think so. I told him that we could walk it and didn't have to run it......so we may do that!

:welcome: I bought my FE on ebay, but there are several threads on the main cruise boards about them. One has directions on how to make them and the other has gift ideas!!! There are a lot of creative people out there that make gifts and lots of people that don't! :) You can do whatever you want! One gift per cabin, one for kids,etc. My DS really liked coming back to the room and seeing what goodies were in the FE's, it's fun! Think of it like doing goodie bags.

We'd love to do a quick visit to the beach without having to ferry over to Paradise Island. Where do you find this beach? Do you turn left or right when you get out of the port security building ?

When you exit the port head to the right like you are going to Senior Frogs, then head up a block and make another right you pass the Mc. Donalds and the beach is on your right just past the big hotel-Hilton I think. You can see the ship from the beach. There were alot of locals there, after school got out the kids went there to play in the ocean. Someone did tell us to keep an eye on our stuff at that beach, but we were told the same thing at Cabbage Beach.

We had a 3 day cruise on Norwegian Sky coming up for Memorial Weekend, so this will be a great time to check out the beach:thumbsup2
 
Nassau Beach...

We are planning to just go to the free beach adjacent to the Atlantis Hotel. We've done that twice before and the price was right. Kids and I play in the surf and sand while DH plays in the casino and everyone is happy. We don't have access to the pools of course OR the beach right on Atlantis property but it has worked out well. We normally end the day by touring the free portion of the aquarium to conclude the afternoon before meeting up with DH at Atlantis lobby.

Anyone else thinking of doing?

It's billed as a "group run" and not a race.... from what I've read many people do it at their own leisurely pace... For me the saving grace might be the opportunity to plop right down in the water when it's over!! :rotfl:

Also is it possible to have a list here of everyone in the group who is cruising ?

I was also thinking of doing a group cabin tour.

It would be nice to see the various categories for future reference if we can have enough volunteers. Maybe on the first day before our cabins get messy, before the lifeboat drill ??.
We did it on a couple of our last cruises.

Hi everyone -- I was fortunate enough to stay in stateroom 8682 on the May 1st sailing of the Dream :)
It is a HA cabin on the Aft of the ship -- category 6A -- here are some pics! I would HIGHLY recommend this cabin!

It would be nice to have a few group meets - puts some real faces to the names!!

Jen was maintaining our group website; however, someone probably needs to lend her a hand if that's something we want to maintain over the last couple of months (there's a listing of DIS cruisers there). She's super busy and it is a lot of work to keep up with it, etc.

Some families were planning to have a DISmeet at Universal or close to port ( the night before departure of the cruise ) ...:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

Maybe we could also think of a mini DIS meet for those who are staying at a WDW resort before the cruise ???
:idea: We could meet at a park / ride an attraction together ? or plan a meal ( counter service ?) or just a drink or snack (for the kids) ????

Hubby and I plan on running the 5k! We are starting P90X this Friday :scared1:, so we should be fit enough to take on the 5K in August.
