This weekend we had our second family disney movie night. We did Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure. DH couldn't believe all the pink from the dinnerear to the food. :cutie: The kids wanted to know if we could have a movie night every week forever. I keep trying to explain to them that it's just a countdown to the cruise but they say that then we can start another countdown right after this cruise for the cruise in 2012...:rotfl:

We love to do Disney movie nights to get ready for our Disney trips. We take it one step further...we plan a meal like we would have a Disney, decorate the house a bit, play Disney music and go all out! It is a great way to get in the mood for the trip!

They charge $10 to get your luggage but, it's well worth it. You give them the claim tickets and they bring all of your bags up to your room.

This is $10 well spent after a long flight. :thumbsup2

Erika and Jen, and everyone else affected, please stay safe in that horrible weather!!

We have been good where we are at. Our town has had horrible rain but none of the tornadoes or severe winds.

More Rain here in CT today!!:scared1::scared1:

Rain here too. :confused3 Although tonight it is clearing up and the sun is out a bit. I am going to cross my fingers that this weather will stay.

Exciting news here in our house....DD (15) spent all last week trying out to make the high school dance team. For fall, they have a pre-game dance team and the varsity dance team for football. For winter, they have a competitive jazz team, a competitive kick team and the b-squad basketball team.

DD was chosen to be on the varsity dance team in the fall and gets to do both the competitive jazz team and the competitive kick team!!!! :cool1:

We are so excited for her because dance is HUGE in our town and there were a lot of great dancers who tried out.

Congratulations to her! I know how competitive dance can get, good luck to her!

Mary, I'm so glad your little guy is feeling better!!
What is a Fire and Ice Pedicure? Is it diiferent than a regular one? It sounds really interesting to me.
Good luck at work! What a wonderful job you have!! I bet it get pretty hectic though.

The Fire and Ice pedicure is a pedicure with a hot stone leg massage then a cooling lotion. sounded interesting. I love a good pedicure, I spend so much time on my feet! LOL!! I really do love what I do, but it can be very hectic and extremly busy. My hospital is in the process of building a new Womens hospital and we are closing rooms, moving rooms and eventually be moving into the new building in January.

I'm loving your trip report, wish I could run your errands so you could finish the report :rotfl:

Everyone in MN, please stay safe, the reports we are getting here in NY about MN are awful.

Can't wait for tomorrow's countdown, the good thing is I don't remember from week to week how much time we have left in weeks form. Yeah, that makes sense doesn't it LOL

Jen...Congrats to your daughter!!! I know that proud feeling I'm feeling it for sure tonight. We are getting ready to leave now for my daughters dance at the school tonight, instead of gym you can take dance in our HS, she did dance instead of gym in 9th grade and at the end of 9th grade tried out for dance company and made the tryouts and tonight is the schools dance company performance. It's been a busy end of year week here for us,
Monday she was in ASL idol, she takes ASL as her language, I can cry when I see her sign so quickly, makes me so proud that she can communicate with someone who can't hear. :)

Mary, What hospital do you work in?

I'm at Long Island Jewish. The original one in New Hyde Park. Since the merger with North SHore (and them taking over all the hosp on LI), no one knows where they are. Been there for too many years!!(over 20 and thats is amazing since I'm only 26..really ask my 8 yo that is what he'll tell you!):rotfl2::rotfl2:

That is so wonder she can sign. My DD is talking ASL as one of her college courses. I hope she continues with it.
I watched Celebrating Apprentive finale and I really got emotional when John Rich sang a song he wrote for children that they were raising money for, and Marlee Matlin signed alongside him while he sang, and right behind them were students from New York School for the Deaf signing also. It was amazing to see them moving to the music, and when they signed, it was just beautiful. It literally brought tears to my eyes. And the whole audience applauded in sign language. Just beautiful!

Our big school thing now, is trying to get the school district to fund our high school theater program. I don't know how much I told you about the program when Alexa was doing Godspell, but our high school was built in 2003 with NO auditorium. So until this year they had never had a show, and we had to do the show in the middle school cafetorium. And it was all funded by community contributions, nothing from the district. Well we are determined to get funding from the district since they fund theater for the other schools in the district. We are forming a booster club, which I have somehow become president of :confused3. We also drafted a letter to the principal, at his request, asking for funding, which we gave to him tonight. He has a principals meeting tomorrow which he will present our letter at. He says he has already brought it up and he thinks they are open to it. So, holy cow, long story short, that is our long battle ahead, and part of why I am never here :).

Yep, I know exactly where the hospital is. 26 that is great, I will be married 34 years in 2 weeks and I am only 31, I don't know how it happened :confused3 oh yeah I got married while I was in elementary school :)

Thanks guys! :goodvibes As her loving mother....I think she is terribly talented! ;)

Mom or not, I am sure she is truly very talented! Congrats again
Just got back and DD's performance was great, they even choreographed their performances, so for DD that was 4 dances she choreographed and danced to with the others. Job well done, but man they worked hard

I was watching that also, DD's teacher encouraged them to watch it, After seeing the ASL idol made me realize I really want to learn ASL. The organization GRO came from Washington DC to judge it, it was so cool. I guess word got out from GRO and there were quite a few deaf people who came and they were clapping like they did on the show. I hope your daughter keeps up with it, my daughter didn't really start to like it until this year, so tell her to stick with it.
We were on a Disney cruise in 2008 and a young girl was at guest svcs trying to ask them something and they couldn't understand her so my daughter signed to her, and then told guest svcs what she wanted, and I can't tell you how I felt that my DD could help someone.

Ahhhhh...tomorrow is the countdown!!!!!! BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!

Congrats to emily!!

I will tell her you said so! She was such a happy girl tonight. :)

That is wonderful!! How very exciting! Congratulations to her!

You go girl! :thumbsup2 School funding is such a huge issue. I hope that you guys can figure something out so that they can keep on working on theater projects.

I will say that I am AMAZED at how expensive it is to be a part of high school activities. Emily's activity fee alone for dance team will be $300 - then there are all the extra expenses on top of it all. :scared1:

Mom or not, I am sure she is truly very talented! Congrats again

I am so glad to hear the performance was great! :woohoo: Again, I am always amazed by these young dancers!

I also think it is great that your daughter is so good with ASL - what a great skill! Our family learned some for a short time because DS learned to sign before he learned how to speak. However, once he started speaking...we forgot about signing and he has forgot about not talking! :rotfl2:

I am totally in need of the countdown....tomorrow will be good no matter what just because of that! :goodvibes

JEN, Your DD is in HS? I thought you had little ones.

Have I told you anyone lately that I need a vacation lol

Yep, DD is 15 and is just finishing 9th grade at the HS. DS is 11 and is finishing 5th grade. I don't feel like I am old enough to have these 2 big kids...but I must be! :rotfl:

I think there are a large number of us on this cruise that REALLY need a vacation. As quickly as I want our trip to come, I am just sad knowing that once it comes....it will end way too quickly. :sad2:
