I can't believe that after booking so long ago we're only 8 -1/2 months away now!!!

Happy New Year! I am pleased to report that my family has decided to join all you on this cruise -- it will be me (Beth), DH Steve, and our twin daughters who are first graders right now. It will be our second DCL cruise as we just sailed on the Magic to the WC over Halloween. It will be super fun meeting all of you!

I have been so out of it lately, I am not even sure who is going anymore LOL. Maybe we all need to reintroduce ourselves for the new year???

Hello again Erika! Glad to see you found some time to come back and check in. The time has been passing so fast here and I have also had a hard time keeping up. My goal is to try to keep up a bit better since it will not be too long before we are all cruising together!

Just had to report in about our wonderful New Year's Day....

Paul and I ran in the Polar Dash today. This was a 10K race and at the time we left, it was 1° outside (-17° with the windchill). We wore MANY layers of clothes but by the end of the race, we were unzipping and taking things off. I am happy to say that we had a great race for us (our pace was 9:47/miles - we normally run 10 minute miles). I think the cold must of inspired us to run faster!

I cannot believe that one year ago Jude asked me to run a race that would inspire me to become a runner. One year ago I did not run at all. Running is what pushed me all year and I cannot wait to share the Disney Princess Half Marathon with Jude in February!

The rest of our day was rather uneventful! We did end with a little treat though....for those of you who have tried my chocolate lava cake dessert, you will know how good our dessert tonight was! The chocolate lava cake was exactly what I needed after great run!

So, we lost the dream home and now are looking for a new house in Bucks County, PA. His new job is in Princeton, NJ. The upside of all the chaos, is that we can now go on the cruise again. Thankfully, we never cancelled it.



I see I have missed a lot.

We live in Northampton County, PA... just north of Bucks county! So close... practically Dis-neighbors!

I am really looking forward to Florida weather in February because we have really had a tough winter already in Minnesota. December was the snowiest on record and now we are in the middle of an arctic cool down. January and February is always so cold here, so we are counting the days until we see the FL sunshine!

I am also counting down until we see the FL sun - its been a bad winter here in the UK too.

Dave and I did not exchange xmas gifts this year - instead we bought universal studios tickets -we are looking forward to visiting Harry Potter world.

I'll try to explain what is the meaning of that show Spirit of Aloha .

ALOHA for Hawaiian people (we have been visiting those islands many times) means HELLO , TAKE CARE ,LOVE or FRIENDSHIP ; but in the Hawaiian culture also means respect and connection with Nature .
The "spirit" of ALOHA is shared among loved ones , BUT ALSO with visitors and strangers ; you could say it's the spirit of life itself .
This Aloha is told through an ancient dance , the hula :

movements of the hands ( and hips ) tell a story , it can be about Nature or a love song or ... just for fun .

Disney makes a good choice among songs and dances of various Polinesian islands , meaning that you'll see not only HULA from Hawaii , but also dances from Tahiti , New Zealand ... The grand finale shows the dramatic Samoan fire dance , which is spectacular .

Food that you'll get is ( to be honest) so so ; it is supposed to be a LUAU , but you will not get kalua pig ,haupia ,poi nor poke ( which are part of the real luau in Hawaii); if I remember correct you just get Hawaiian (soft) sweet bread and pineapple as appetizer , then roasted chicken or pork with rice and vegetables.
The last time we were there the dessert was good , sort of "flamed" Volcano, rich in chocolate.

DGH thinks it is a very grumpy ( meaning VERY GOOD) show ; MHO is that this luau is good , maybe I'd like better the one held at Royal Pacific hotel ( at Universal Rolando) - mostly because food is much better ...

Having said so : WE will go to Spirit of Aloha this August , before the cruise; I can't wait to hear again those beautiful Hawaiian melodies !!!

Anyone else do any digital scrap-booking? I have spent some of the afternoon working on pages from our 2009 pre Christmas trip on the Magic.... reminiscing about the trip is creating more excitement for this upcoming trip.....

Cool, where are you staying?? Are you going for Alexa's school??

It is for her performance choir, which is not through school. Unfortunately we are staying at All Star Music. I was hoping for movies, but for some reason they couldn't get us in. Oh well, better Music than to not be at Disney!!!
