A quick post tonight to check in . . .

It has been an emotional couple of weeks in our house - finally being offered a job brought so much joy was quickly followed by sadness as my grandpa passed away on December 21.

Sorry for your loss.

still can't believe WE TOO are coming with you all !!

Laura -

I was so happy when Marco posted that you guys would be joining us! :yay: I have to send you a message when I return from DMIL and DFIL's house later this weekend.

I think it will be such a great cruise and can't wait to see everyone again!
Jen

So, I have not been on in a long time...life was just crazy for us...

We bought a new house in June that was due to be finished the first week of December. It was in Palm Beach county which is the county just north of us. So, imagine my surprise when I see that school starts there a week earlier which means that we would have to cancel this cruise. :scared1:

As life got really busy, I forgot to cancel this cruise. We did book another cruise for Spring break but it wasn't a Disney cruise. :sad2: All the while, we didn't cancel this cruise.

Then in November, my DH gets a call about a job out of state. He interviewed for it and found out he was a finalist for the position the week before we were due to close on our dream home. We postponed the closing and a week later, DH found out he got the job.

So, we lost the dream home and now are looking for a new house in Bucks County, PA. His new job is in Princeton, NJ. The upside of all the chaos, is that we can now go on the cruise again. Thankfully, we never cancelled it. :woohoo:

I see I have missed a lot.

A quick post tonight to check in . . .

It has been an emotional couple of weeks in our house - finally being offered a job brought so much joy was quickly followed by sadness as my grandpa passed away on December 21. We had a wonderful Christmas with family and were excited to finally tell the kids their big surprise . . they will be coming to WDW with us in February (they thought we were going without them). Yesterday was difficult as it was grandpa's funeral and it was sad for me to say good-bye. I am now looking forward to spending a couple of days with Paul's family as we go to celebrate Christmas with them.

I did work on our website tonight to recover and repair files since my hard drive has been replaced. You will find that much of it looks the same as I simply copied and pasted the important pages. I will continue to rebuild the other pages as we go. I have also finally learned my lesson and set up a back up system so that if there are technology challenges in the future, I will not always be starting over! :goodvibes

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and is enjoying the holiday season! :santa:

Later!
Jen

Sorry for your loss. I hope that you had a nice time celebrating Christmas with Paul's Family!!

Just a week into the winter of '10-'11 and am tired of hearing... "blizzard", "white-out", "snow-ado", "thunder snow", among many others! :lmao:

Really need to move somewhere warmer instead of complaining about it, eh?!? :rotfl:

This past storm was a real NASTY one though - as it moved from California all the way east. For us - 18 inches and 3 foot drifts.

Other than that - enjoying a long stretch off from work with the family!!

Anyone have any exciting NYE plans this year?

No realy plans for NYE, we usually hang out with our friends. But the snow-storm made their family unable to come for a visit so they are hosting their family on NYE now. So we plan on just hanging out at home and watching movies with the kids, etc....And you??

We are headed into NYC tomorrow. Any recommendations on where to eat??

We are going into Philly for NYE this year. The Hyatt at Penn's Landing is having a "family" party in the late afternoon and there are waterfront fireworks at 6PM. We'll be home in the early evening to do the official countdown, etc.

As for NYC the last few places we have eaten - Capizzi, John's Pizzeria both have great pizza and other food. I had this awesome white bean escarole soup at John's a couple weeks back - hmmmm hmmmm good!! :) We also like to go to Alice's Tea Cup with our daughter (love their scones!!)... I guess it all depends on what you are looking to eat - there are too many good choices!!! Have fun.

:goodvibes WOW !! We had such great fun ... even though we couldn't visit Tortola ... :confused3

I'm already thinking about ;););) making "multiple" trips to that :) artisan shop : Sonia is such a lovely person, she " has been creating" beautiful and original hand-made jewelry for some of my Christmas presents , she is :thumbsup2 very talented ... and I really love to chat with her while "ordering" what colors / style she will be putting in the new necklace or bracelet or whatever I'm asking her to hand-make for me !!!

:rolleyes1 At some point , when the cruise will be approaching , :flower3: I'll need to know what are your favorite colors for your clothing ...

Laura :cheer2:

:) DH and I will be staying a few days in NYC :cool1: AFTER the cruise : we plan to have an hotel in the Theater District ...

Is maybe one of those restaurants you suggest nearby ? We have done most of the "touristy" tours on our last visit two years ago ; now we would like to try the places where "real" US people like to go and play .

Any suggestions ? THANKS !!!
laura :goodvibes

Fellow New Englander taking advantage of this weeks storm to go skiing today(day trip to Mohawk). Need to break in these old bones slowly, without actually breaking something :thumbsup2 We've been sledding the past two days.

Laura and Marco, so happy to see you've booked this cruise. I enjoyed reading your posts on our Tortola cruise board last year.

Jen and family, my thoughts are with you.

Kristin, if you are going in with the girls, try Serendipity's for ice cream or hot coca!!

No big plans for NYE here either. We plan to hang out at home, playing the Wii (LOVE Toy Story Mania!!), bonfire outside and then watch the ball drop. We moved our grill close to the back sliders and shoveled a path to it so we can throw some steaks on the grill (we got about 22 inches with the last storm...). I miss cooking out in the winter! NYE is Tess' favorite night of the year (well, maybe second favorite, after Christmas Eve!) because we let her stay up til midnight.

...I am just getting back "into" the boards. I have alot of catching up to do!!

...and Laura, I am SO glad you and Marco are joining us!! I am wearing the green necklace right now!!!

have a great day everyone

Jen, I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my dad earlier this year so I know how the holidays can be without a loved one for the the first time. My thoughts are with you and your family.

It will be quite a change for us...I mean, having to fly down to WDW instead of having a quick 3 hr drive will be quite an adjustment. :cutie:

Jen, I'm so sorry for your loss. :grouphug:

A new job is always a bit of a challenge, but you seem up to the task. My dh is a network admin so we don't have any back up worries...our server does an automatic back up every Saturday night! :thumbsup2

I sent you a PM a while ago w/ some more specifics regarding our booking (cabin assignment, participation in the FE, etc.), if you don't have the info I can resend it! :)

So, we lost the dream home and now are looking for a new house in Bucks County, PA. His new job is in Princeton, NJ. The upside of all the chaos, is that we can now go on the cruise again. Thankfully, we never cancelled it. :woohoo:

I'm sorry about your dream house...:sad1:

I live just one county over in PA (Montgomery)...if you need any help regarding where to go for stuff or cool things to do give me a yell!

...and Laura, I am SO glad you and Marco are joining us!! I am wearing the green necklace right now!!!

have a great day everyone
