I'm not sure if we should wait until next weekend while on board the Magic to rebook a NYC cruise or try to find something tomorrow. Not even sure if we want to do one LOL We have a repeat of THIS cruise (Dream double dip) on deposit for 7/2012 and considering switching ... UGH, not sure

Hey all, long time, I see you cruise is starting to get closer.
Sadly I had to pospone my Aug cruise to Alaska, but now I have just moved my hold date to the Aug 6,2012 cruise leaving from Seattle.

Looked at the NY Cruise, No driving Yea, but the ports are not exciting.
Nassu problems last year with robberies, only 1 day at WDW not nearly enough, and another trip to castaway cay, I have had two cruises with double dips at cc, one planned, and one due to hurricanes(our rerouted 2009 cruise). More cc than I like.

But sailing from NY, will be a great cruise for many.

Hi, Ed!
Sorry you had to cancel your cruise!
I'm not from the NY area, so leaving from there doesn't really help me. It will be nice for those of you in the area though. The Canadian cruise sounds like fun though.
I agree about the ports. I wish they had come out with some different ones.

So did we!

Yeah!! Did you do the 11-17-12 as well? :cool1:

The price was higher than I wanted to spend. We grabbed a SPH room but then turned it back in for regular inside that was almost 500 less. Hated to give up my SPH but money is money. I'm not 100% positive we'll keep it but hopefully so. My DD's birthday is near Thanksgiving and I think it would be special to celebrate that with her (She'll be turning 13...yikes) and Thanksgiving on board.

On the other hand...we are doing this Dream sailing AND a MR Spring Break in March 2012 (Which is a steal) so that on top of the last month, that would be 4 Disney Cruises in 2 years...which is a liiiiiitttlllee excessive. :scared1: They are all insides though.

Does anyone have their kids in Private School. We think we may be enrolling DD in private school starting in 2012-2013 school year so that will likely funnel away ALL of our cruising funds. Man, those places are expensive. No way can we vacation like we enjoy AND do that. I need one of those Money Trees. How do you acquire one.

Hey Ed,

How are you? Sorry, that you had to cancel your cruise!! How's the family been??

Sorry you had to move your cruise--we'll just miss you next August!

I don't have the dates yet for the end of our summer term, so I have to play it safe and we are looking to book the Aug 20 sailing tomorrow. The prices are pretty expensive.... it doesn't look like the Alaska itineraries have been quite as popular as the NYC/Hawaii ones, so I suppose there is a chance the price will maybe even go down eventually... I'm really hoping to rebook it when we are on the Dream in August to get the 10% discount. Now I'm wishing we would have booked a 2nd dummy cruise when we were on the Magic in Jan! :sad2:

I am kinda in the middle myself, as my kids will be 15 and 18 at the time, so while Alexa isn't an adult, she isn't a little kid either.

I was just thinking about how on our last cruise, a bunch of our FE stuff we brought was kid (<10) related (games, etc.), and if we are breaking up the big group anyway, it would be something to consider, to maybe have even 13 and up or something. To be honest, we haven't even thought of what our FE gifts are going to be yet.

But good news-- it looks like our closing date might be next week! :woohoo:
I gotta figure out how we swing that AND the new DCL deposit... :headache:

Did anyone book any of the new 2012 Sailings today? We booked Galveston 2012 Thanksgiving.

I'm not gold or platinum, so I can't book until tomorrow, but I sent a request to my TA for the May 25th Bahama cruise out of NYC! :yay: My boyfriend and I want to do it as a graduation trip! Hopefully the price will be the same as what it was today!

As for this August cruise, we just booked our airfare (or at least our returning airfare), so we're definitely doing 3 nights at WDW after the cruise.

Hoping this all works out price wise! Seems crazy that this time tomorrow I'll have two Disney cruises to look forward to!

Do you get any rebooking benefits from booking a suite while onboard? If not, then there is no point in waiting. I had my TA book us on 3 cruises today just for the heck of it. We booked the 7/8/12 5nt NY to Canada cruise, and the 2nt cruise to nowhere that follows it. We also booked the 8/6/12 Alaska cruise from Seattle. Not sure if we'll actually do them, since we're committed to the Fantasy MV cruise, and now have friends cruising on the 11/17/12 Fantasy Thanksgiving cruise with us, so that may take most of my cruise funds and vacation. But NYC is an easy train ride from the DC/VA area, and I have family in Seattle, so it could happen.

I'm amazed a bit at the prices though. The 7nt B2B (5+2) in July cost us just over $5800 for a 9C oceanview room. We're paying just over $100 more (just under $6k) for a 6A verandah room on the Fantasy MV cruise next spring break. The August Alaska cruise was also pretty pricey, running $5110 a cat 9C for the 7 nights. (All with 2A/2C under 10.)

There were some pretty steep suite prices coming out today.

If there are incentives for booking suites while onboard, giiven how close your next cruise is, you can take your chance and keep rolling over a hold (unless with concierge you have to pay sooner.) In other words, put the cruise on hold tomorrow if you find something you like, as you get closer to the time by which you have to pay the deposit, you can see if you can rebook the reservation at the same category and price. If so you can put a new hold on and let the original one expire (or call to cancel it.) Unless the period is shorter, that should take you to next week's cruise when you can rebook it. That will also give you a feel for the changes in availability to let you know whether you need to book soon or not. My recommendation is generally that you should book as soon as you have a date, rate and category in mind.

Laura,
Sorry to hear bout your fall! Hope you feel better soon!:) Your Hawaii trip sounds AWESOME!!! I want to go to Hawaii someday. DH lived there when he was a child (his dad was in the Marines), but I've never been. I might look into pricing for next year. I was waiting to see where DCL was going to go before planning next year's trip.

Sorry about your leg Laura. Fracture something? I can handle details, I'm a doctor :goodvibes

Oh no Laura!! I'm so sorry about your leg! Is it broken? I totally understand the feeling! I broke my ankle before in three places and had to have surgery, and it hasn't been the same since then. I totally feel your pain!

Your Hawaii trip sounds wonderful!! I have always wanted to go there. Maybe someday!

Feel better soon!

Oh no Laura, hope your leg is feeling better soon! That's a horrible time to get hurt too, when you are out on a field trip with the kids.
