August 12, 2012 5 day Canada from NY

Hi margemomof4! We're in New Jersey too - Morris County. Soooooo excited about this trip. I'm new to these boards too.

Search Fish Extenders on these boards and you'll see lots of pictures. It's something you hang outside your cabin and people leave little gifts. My two daughters (11 & 8) are VERY excited about them. We're traveling with my sister and her family so I'll be adding her too.

Make sure you join the Facebook page for this trip too!

I would be interested in the fish extender program if someone explained it to me.

The fish extender is a "mailbox" of sorts; a pouch that you hang on the metal fish decoration that is outside the stateroom doors. The group leaves a little surprise for everyone else in the group at some point during the cruise. Kind of a Secret Santa for cruisers type of thing.

Like the previous poster said, if you do a search you can find all sorts of info on fish extender gift ideas and the fish extenders themselves (some crafty folks here make their own and they also have some for sale on ebay that will give you the idea of what they look like).

It's really quite fun!

FB group.... so far there is nothing but a blank group. I will try and add as we go along. Our group now has all sorts of pictures, chatting, planned meets, people have linked reservations etc. It's been a lot of fun and nice to "meet" people already! We have actually already met some people! I hope this link works!

I'm Cheryl Asprelli Bunosso on Facebook, I put in a request to join.

I just saw this on another cruise board. It effects travel in NYC before and during our departure dates:

The 2012 NYC Ironman Championships will be held in NYC between Aug 8 and Aug 12, 2012. If you search for their website it will give you the dates and times. Lots of activities take place along the cruise pier docks. Cruisers are encouraged to book thier hotel rooms for Manhatten ASAP.

Found the info on the cruisecritics message boards under East Coast Departures.

Disney 52303- I just put in a request to join the facebook group. Looking forward to meeting you and everyone here!

We would probably be interested in the FE group as well- I just have to learn more about it and figure out how to get the FE and what I would make/get for people :)

I'm travelling with DH, DD's 10,8 (will be turning 9 on the boat!), and 5, and a DS, 7. First cruise for all of us- so excited!

We were booked on the 8/5 cruise and changed to this one due to work issues. Traveling with be pmm0724, DD kmitchel and DGS Peyton age 11.

I sent a request to join the Facebook group.

We always do the FE and agree that many of the gifts have little value, but the kids love them. We bring them home and donate to Peyton's teacher.

Hi! We switched dates for this cruise, but we will be joining you as well! I can't wait to see beautiful NYC!

We have sailed on the Magic a few times and it is our favorite ship. It is just the right size, not too big but lots of things to do, or plenty of places to relax if that is what you are looking for. The food is delicious! Palo is the best restaurant at sea, (and maybe on land). The staff is wonderful with adults and kids. The shows are fantastic.

We are really looking forward to this time on the Magic. Since we don't plan to fly for another cruise, we are stuck with whatever ship comes up to Boston or NY. We never thought we would be on the Magic again so this is a bonus for us.

I have been on the Magic 4 times, and all our cruises have been amazing (and so have been our trips on the Wonder and the Dream).

I was a little worried that my girls would find the older ships boring after the Dream, but not the case at all. There is so much to do and the staff treats the kids so well that the high tech touches are not missed.

That's really good to hear. My daughters were a little upset that we weren't on the ship with the big slide. I'm sure they'll find SOMETHING to do :)

Any idea why I can't see my ticker? Should I use the HTML link or the PseudoHTML?

Any idea why I can't see my ticker? Should I use the HTML link or the PseudoHTML?

I find that if I use the Image URl and I need to add
around the Image URL it works.

Thanks for the help! And sorry to everyone who is getting the updates while I'm trying to figure out my signature!!

We've also sailed her before & echo all the positive things already said. We haven't sailed Dream or Fantasy, but have sailed on some other lines' mega vessels and we really prefer the more mid-scale ships like Magic. It's big enough to have lots to offer, but small enough that you don't feel like you are embarking on a 10 mile hike just to get to the dining room :lmao:

Can't wait to get back on...so excited to sail out of NYC! I love that city & have always wanted to cruise from there - so glad we waited so we could do so on Magic!

Hi all,

I am booked on the 2 night weekend cruise. This is a surprise Sweet 16 cruise for my daughter. I will also be paying for her bff to come as her present, oldest dd coming and paying her way.

I am really really wanting to switch to this cruise and then not take the bff as it's much more.

An inside cabin per person right now is $1280. I would like to know if this is A LOT more then it was when you all booked??? I hate paying extra because I waited ughhhh. I am usually a big planner (have the Med booked for next summer).

Would anyone with an inside cabin mind posting what they paid per person??

I am sooooooo tempted. I know my daughter would rather do a 5 day with just us then a 2 night with all of us if given the choice.

I am keeping it a secret until we drive up to the port. We live 60 minutes away.

Thanks in advance!!
