August 12, 2011 Disney Dream Meet Link Here

Hi Everyone,

We just booked this cruise. I am Lori and will be traveling with DH Chris and our kids, DS 9 (CJ) and DD 7 (Kitty). We live in the Dayton, OH area. We are going to tell the kids at Christmas. This is our first cruise. We are planning three nights at Port Orleans French Quarter before the cruise. It will be our 2nd trip to the World.

We can't wait and our kids love to play with new friends!!

Lori, I know I'm responding to an old post. I just decided to go through all 23 pages and read them all. I just read that you are from Dayton. We are from Liberty Twp., Lakota school district. And we will be staying at Port Orlrans Riverside 3 days prior to our sail. We usually stay at French quarter, but we are bringing my mom and Riverside accommodates 5 people. We should get together some night in Disney. Rae

Oh gosh, I've been on here for over 2 hours reading all the posts. I feel "somewhat" acquainted with everyone. Explain these magnets everyone is making for their doors??? Where do you get the pictures from, or do you use photos of your family?

Happy 4th of July everyone!
Not long now! :)

My fish extender is almost sorted - I'm quite proud of how creative I can be. I've cheated by buying a hanging storage designed for a baby's crib. I've customised this with felt and ribbon. Nearly finished. :cool1:
I just need to get my gifts sorted now.

Michelle - I guess we have ours early as we are non us citizens but I think Lori has received hers too.

Rae - know how you feel. Miss my son like crazy when he's away even for 1 night. Hope your week is going well and that you're not doing too much of this :laundy:

I'm spending the week learning how to inspect schools - very interesting but very intense. Can't wait for our big summer vacation!

Hello Everyone:

Hoping all had a good July 4th long weekend?

My family is scheduled for 2nd sitting for dinner on the cruise. Since my young ladies are all older, I really don't mind, figuring those with younger families can eat earlier.

Is anyone else scheduled for the later seating?

Under 39 days and counting!!!

We are 1st seating. Fast long weekend. Spent all day trying to figure out how to make magnets. Bought the magnetic paper and found out it gets stuck in the printer:headache: wanted to print things out on regular paper and then laminate and glue magnets, but Ray thinks it would look nicer on magnetic paper. "Great, Ray, but how the h--- do you do that?" anyway, I'm constantly thinking about the cruise. If someone like the magnet fairy is out there with some relatively easy advice, feel free to share it. Thanks, Rae

I finally decided to start my FE on Sunday. I grabbed my bag of supplies and it felt wet. Our DD has a very old cat and he peed all over and in the bag. I had to throw everything away (and scrub the carpet). My bags and fabric and buttons and ribbon and appliques. Everything! :mad:I am not a cat lover to begin with and I wanted to kill him. I tried feeding him to my dog but he wouldn't eat him. I wish I had a Pitt Bull instead of a Golden Retriever! I have to go shopping this week and replace it all.
Hope everyone had a happy 4th!pixiedust:

Hi everyone! Got my cruise notebook thingy today - it feels so official!! :cool1:

We are second seating but I am still going to try and change that when we board. I just think first seating would work better for us with the kids - we are early eaters. Not sure what my chances are in getting it changed... wish me luck. ;)

Today's mail brought our cruise documents and our real estate tax bill. So I smiled and I cried......talk about mixed emotions!:rotfl:

We have first seating. We did 2nd seating the last 2 cruises and found we were too tired (and too full) to go out after supper!

magnet fairy is out there with some relatively easy advice, feel free to share it. Thanks, Rae
I'm not a magnet fairy, but do try printing on 4 X 6 photo paper and then either attach magnets onto back that you buy from store that are peel and stick (it comes on a roll) or use double stick tape and glue ones that come in the mail onto the back of your printed photo. The quality is really nice with the photo paper and uses less ink than regular paper.

Our DD has a very old cat and he peed all over and in the bag. I had to throw everything away (and scrub the carpet).
So sorry to hear that!

I'm a review girl. I scour the internet (usually Amazon) for reviews on things prior to buying them, even if I'm not buying the item online. I'm all about "real" people views. I'm pretty sure it's a disease as I can happily spend hours doing it. Anyway, the point of my story is, I was looking at magnet paper reviews on different websites (amazon, staples, avery, etc.) and after hours of scouring I've seen a trend or two.

Staples Magnetic sheets are the ones with the best reviews, though they're a little more pricier than others. Also, the printer brand/type seems to come into play a lot. HP and Epson are the front runners as far as no jamming, no smearing, etc. Ink jets are what people recommend too. I am going to try a sheet here at home. If I run into trouble then everything is going to end up on a thumb drive and I'll make a quick run to Kinko's to play with their printers.

No documents for us today???? Hopefully, they are coming soon!!!

We had a scare today...we thought that we were going to have to put our dog to sleep. She was really sick and not acting herself....wandering around the house, and walking funny...(hard to explain, but just not herself) She is 14 1/2 years old.... We took her to the vet (but had the kids say good-bye to her just on case she didn't come home - can you say heart wrenching!)

She had a 104 temperature and her back legs were pretty weak/painful so they think she has some sort of infection. After taking blood (tried to take a urine sample but she was too dehydrated and couldn't get any) they confirmed an elevated white count, but they are not sure what kind of infection - so now she is on antibiotics (of course the most expensive kind!!!) They gave her fluids and sent her home with anti-inflammatory meds too. Hopefully, all of this will do the trick, and she will be ok!!! :wizard:

3smithboys - I am so terribly sorry to hear your puppy dog is not feeling well. We have a golden retriever (Bailey) and he is our baby. I know how upsetting it is when your animals don't feel well. :( Hopefully she will be back on her feet again soon!

We got our cruise documents today!!! YAY!! My in-laws on the same cruise got theirs too. I hurried up and called them to go check the mail LOL

Gary - We are at the second seating as well. We booked our cruise rather late (January) so that was all that was available. Hopefully it won't be too bad (with a 6 year old, 11 year old and 10 year old) - but I suppose we don't have much choice. We are 1st time cruisers, but are Disney veterans, and we've had plenty of late dining reservations in the past at the parks. We actually enjoy the later dinner at the parks, so I am hoping that is the same for the cruise.

I ordered my FE yesterday off of ebay. I am creative, but just don't have time to worry about it before we go. Plus I gave my sewing machine away last year since I never opened the box, so I would have had to figure out a way to sew the silly thing. The person from ebay makes them custom for you. You pick the colors for each pocket, the design for the top and she even puts little Mickey designs on each of the pockets. I think it will turn out pretty cute. It was pricey though $40 (yikes). The hospital where I work is directly next to a Joann Fabric, so I probably should have just bought the material there and figured it out - but I'm happy to say it will just come in the mail like magic :wizard:

The time is passing so fast now!! I can't wait!!

Hope your dog is feeling better Lani. Hopefully the antibiotics will sort her out.
Sadly we had to have our golden retriever put to sleep last year so I can really empathise with the heart wrenching.

We appear to have been changed to main dining from 2nd seating. We rebooked a GTY whilst on board The Wonder last year and they said that only 2nd seating was available. We really wanted 1st sitting as we like to eat early. Glad that someone has sprinkled some pixie dust for us!

Thanks for everyone's good wishes for Maggie! She is doing much better today. She is more able to walk, so I think that the anti-inflammatory meds are helping. Hopefully, the antibiotics will do the trick!

We also got our cruise documents in the mail today! So today has been a great day all around! :cheer2:

Oh, and we are main dining too...

I just got a message from our TA and we have been switched to main dining too! We've been on the wait list for it since we booked - I'm so excited!!

:cool1:

Aw, poor Maggie! Glad to hear she is doing much better today.

We have main dining as well. We have always dined with late dining, but sometimes it was hard when the girls were younger, so we are going to try to do main dining and see how it goes.

lexandme -OOh, I would have been pissed! (Pun intended!:lmao:)

Mom2CJ&Kitty -Hope you are able to switch once on the ship. I have heard you usually can. Never mind, just read your TA left a mssg that you got it. Fabulous news!

Gary Pinkos -Too funny! I probably would not have even bothered opening up the tax bill until after the cruise!!

CareBear05 -You sound like me. I always read the reviews before I make online purchases! I have hear the same about the staples maget paper.

castle4us -Doesn't it feel great when they arrive???

levisfam -I think the ones you ordered off of ebay are actually done by a dis'r (gradysmommy) Not sure if you knew that. She does beautiful work!

jlwatkins -So happy that you got main dining! yay!

Soooooo glad puppy Maggie is doing better. It sounds like everyone is on main dining except Gary and his family. Sorry Gary, you missed the memo that the party is at 6pm and not 8:30! :rotfl2: I bought my FE from the eBay lady also and she is making a steelers Minnie for my pocket. I'm so excited. Working on magnets. Wish me luck! Over the hump day is over:banana:Rae
