August 12, 2006-DIS DREAMS DO COME TRUE-Magical Western Cruise

Thats great I knew there would be plenty of kids, my DS will probably lead a mutiney in the lab if I know him. DD is quieter but also at the age that thinks she's a teen and wants her independence (she is still getting a pager) Are you getting them for both yours or letting them check in and out by themselves.?

I havent decided that yet. I will probably let my DD check herself in and out. I havent decided about my son yet. He's usually pretty responsible though about telling me where he is. I thought even if they check themselves in and out....you still have a pager and they let you know where they are going? I could be wrong however.

I think its one or the other. With Pager you have to go and sign them out when paged or you sign something that says they can sign themselves out and you don't get a pager. I would trust DD but it will cause bickering if she can and he can't. Maybe I'll just say its one of the ship's rules due to age and he'll just let it go. (Doubtful)

Very very welcome , zzzzjohnzzzz and family !!!

DGH (aka Marco ) and I are the ones coming from far away : Italy !!!! We both are sooooo excited about this vacation and :grouphug: about meeting all of you !!!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: though we've been on many cruises ( Disney and non-Disney ) still we CAN'T WAIT TILL AUGUST !!!!!

Is your name ... :rolleyes1 maybe John ??? and what are your kids' names ?
Have you all got a favorite DISNEY CHARACTER ???
:wizard:
I'm asking this because, as you might have noticed, DH is "creating" :yay: :yay: a door-magnet :yay: :yay: to "celebrate" our cruise together !!!! and we're trying to "personalize" it as much as we can !!!
Ya, each of you will get his own personal Dis - magnet ... :rolleyes1

Are you staying at WDW prior or after the cruise ? :earsboy: :earsgirl: pluto: pooh: Some people in our group are !!!!! :figment: :goofy: :donald:

Have a magic :tink: planning while waiting !!!

Welcome to our thread! Another family from MD by the way, though when you meet us you would not guess!!

I was under the impression from the guidebooks and such like, that when your kids sign themselves out, the Lab will page you to tell you that they have left their care. I might be wrong on that but you will get one pager per family. You can request a 8- 9 year old has signing in and out privileges, for 10 and up it's automatic.

I think that's what I read too. :teeth:

so what's everyone doing today?

Im being lazy...I just had a big girl scout program that I have been busy with and finally finished up last night. And Im not working till tomorrow. So I am taking advantage of the rain and slow pace and catching up on the DIS and TV. :teeth:

Im tired of looking at rain though! :umbrella:

I didn't get in on time to get Palo reservations, I waited too long to make up my mind. I guess we will have to be first in line. Does anyone have any suggestions? Where should we go to wait?

Went to my favorite Italian restaurant for Mother's Day, but Laura, my daugher tells me it is nothing like the incredible fresh food they serve in Italy. She doesn't like tomatoes, but she ate them in Italy and said they are delicious...

Ciao Michelle !!! You could always put your name on their waiting list - as soon as you board ask where the Palo reservations are being taken : :thumbsup2 usually they put 3 small tables (Dinner , Brunch , High tea) outside Palo or in one of the lounges , where Palo staff take reservations ,make changes to the existing ones etc.(2:00 PM)
You could also pop in from time to time ;) to catch a cancellation ; Marco and I often did so , finding nice tables during the cruise.

Oh ; I see what Jessica means !! I just have had a mixed salad for lunch at my school ...
2.gif
with zucchini omelette : the salad had more then 10 different vegetables and greens !!!
IMHO ... among the "Italian" food you can find in different restaurants around in US  the closest to our Italian stuff ... :Pinkbounc :bounce: is the food they serve at Palo : 95% ;) Italian !!!!!
"Bice" at Portofino resort (Universal - Orlando) has wonderful calamari and pasta dishes ... while the desserts are ...so so ...
"Alfredo" (Epcot) has good Italian stuff - but it is not as "delicate" in tasting as some of the dishes at Palo (though their ITALIAN chef ... has gone !! ).
Sorry, I talked too much !! We Italians love to talk about food !!! :rotfl:
CIAO !!!

Hi everyone I'mmmm BACK

While it was great to see all Terry's family....We drove and the 10 hour trip was awful, I use to love taking long road trips now I just complain after 6 hours. To reach Starkeville Mississippi you must drive through Alabama this is one of the worst experiences anyone can ever have. Most of the roads are two-lane black tops, that curve back and forth up and down large hills with very few areas to pass the pick-up truck in front of a line of traffic going 20mph under the posted speed limit. :scared1:

Sorry RANT over lets just say I was so :cheer2: Happy :cheer2: to see the State of Florida Welcome Station.

WELCOME ZZZZJOHNZZZZ... not only to our group but to the DIS BOARDS.

There is a few of us that are repeat Disney Cruisers, if there any particular questions you have, you know you can always ask! Laura and Beckie really have made us all feel welcome don't you think? I am looking forward to finally meeting them and the rest of you...so not too much pressure huh?!! We will be instantly recognizable, our tornado of a son will make sure of that. My DH is going to die of embarrassment, he's a tad on the shy side. Do check out Marco's video's (DGH) when you get a chance.

Hope you have a fab stay at GF. My particular favorite! It doesn't feel too long to wait now. Well maybe sometimes when it's all rainy outside.

If I remember correctly aren't you taking a Limo from WDW to the port? If you are, just schedule your pick-up time so you arrive at the port early. The following information is from the most resent Navigator (4/15/06)

Palo Dining Options
Reservations for Dinner, Champagne Brunch and High Tea will be taken on a first come basis:
>12:00noon-3:30pm @ Rocken'-Bar D
>5:00pm-6:00pm @ Palo

Yes ::yes:: I remember I tried to start calling as soon as I saw where Charlie was going to make landfall but the WDW telephone lines were flooded with calls. I wasn't able to get through until early Saturday Morning then the operator told me you had already checked-out. :scared1: I worried until I recieved your E-mail from Miami just before you boarded your plane headed home.

No one ever forgets their first Hurricane they are frightening, yet each one seems to have it's own personality. Here's hoping for a mild season this year, only 12 days until the new season starts.

I recently booked our 8/12/06 Western Cruise! This will be our 3rd Disney cruise, and we are definitely looking forward to it. It will be me, DH, and DS.
