August 12, 2006-DIS DREAMS DO COME TRUE-Magical Western Cruise

Tia

WELCOME ABOARD, A Navy family on our cruise, KOOL. :cool1: I live a few miles from a large NAS, actually the town I live in was originally all Navy. There were 3 NAS in our area until one closed a few years ago. So while I wasn't ever in the Navy quite a few members of my family are/were in the military. I see you are now stationed in North Carolina, where is your hometown?

When are you scheduled to move? It has to be hard trying to plan a cruise and a move at the same time.

As you have just recently booked your cruise have you been able to book any excursions or Palo reservations? Or is this your first DCL cruise?

I just read my post so many questions...sorry :confused3 Maybe it would be easier for you "ONLY IF YOU WANT" to add your information to our facts sheet. I PM'd the list to our other new arrival ZZZZJOHNZZZZ and would love to add his and your information to our group.

Cruising on the Disney Magic August 12, 2006
dclmoving.gif

I’m going to try and start a file or list of everyone that will be on our cruise August 12, 2006.

You may answer the questions here on our Meet Thread or
If you would rather not post your information on the public forum I understand. We could keep the information between just the guest that are sailing together by sharing through Private Messages PM’s here on the DIS. Just PM your answers to me.

If you had rather not participate that’s OK too, just keep posting here on the Meet Thread and we can still share thoughts and idea’s.

I have never tried doing this before so we will all learn as we go. I’ll start by requesting a few basic questions

2) First Names/Ages/Relationship (ages for adults optional)
3) Hometown (State or Country)
4) Stateroom #
5) Dinning Time (late/main)

(This way you will at lest have something in common with your table mates)
6) Will you be visiting WDW before/after your cruise?
(a) Arrival Date/Departure Date/Resort
(b) What Resorts have you stayed @ and which is your favorite?
7) Will you be staying @ Port Canaveral the night before our cruise?

10) Any special excursion that you or your family must do?
11) If you are a Castaway Club member: How many, when, what type cruises have you taken?
12) Any special stories about your family you would like to share?
13) Would you like to attend a DIS MEET while onboard?
14) Would you like to plan any excursions with other DIS members in our group?
15) Would any of the Adults like to try and Meet for dinner @ Palo one night? (They have a special area for larger groups.)
16) Can anyone think of any more questions we should add to this list?

Thanks everyone is advance.

Becky I will send you my info. This is our 3rd Disney cruise, I need to get in touch with someone at All seas travel because I did not write down the right conf. number and that has kept tme from booking anything online yet. You have to be in Jacksonville or very close. I grew up in Jacksonville and lived there all of my life until I married my hubby and the Navy started moving us here and there. Last Sept we cruised on the Magic and met a lot of Dis members, it was a blast!! We had tshirts made with the group name and we decorated our cabin doors. It was so much fun to finally meet after talking online for so long. I look forward to chatting and meeting in August.

Yep...::yes::...I'm a Native Floridian and originally from Central Florida (Lake County) we moved to Jacksonville when I was 8 so I went to elementary/Jr.High/High School in Jacksonville. While @ College my parents moved to Clay County, I also moved and now live in Orange Park. I'm glad to have another Florida Gal on our cruise DVC4US/LeiLani is also a Florida Girl that has moved away, but her parents still live over in Niceville.

I recieved your info and will be adding it to the information I already have. I will then PM everyones information to you.

I recieved a Great Florida Residence Discount for our cruise...do you still have a Florida ID or proof of residence? They usually have great discounts for the Military also. (It would be worth checking on)

See Ya Soon

Anyone else decorate their door? We did last year, there are a lot of people that were so creative, mine were simple but it was fun. It will be fun to count down the days with all of you. We booked late this year due to our move so the time should go fast. I look forward to meeting everyone. -Donna

Ah, we had a nice little taste of Disney yesterday. Sadly it only makes me wish we were cruising sooner.

Disney Live - a live performance magic show was playing in DC this weekend. We took DS and one of his friends down to the National Theatre yesterday. The size of the theatre let me imagine I was onboard the Magic watching one of the performances.

The show was really very fun. The first half was mostly musical numbers with lots of guest appearances by the Disney Princesses. The second part of the show had some really good magic tricks. Our favorite was when they cut two of the helpers in half and swapped their legs. When the two went into their boxes, one was dressed all in red, the other all in blue. After they finished the trick the bottom halves of their costumes had switched colors.

It sounds like a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. I know Bryce and his friends really loved the Magic Show. (sounds like Dad enjoyed it too)

"Twilight Zone Moment"

Remember when we all had the "It's a Small World" conversations when we found out so many were from the same area in Maryland? Now Tia/Donna that now lives in North Carolina is also moving to Maryland...Well Tia/Donna and I have our own Twilight Zone Moment...Are you ready...We graduated from the same High School, grew up just a few miles away from each other. Of course I graduated 20 years before her. But it really is "A Small World After All"

Beckie

That is a small world moment :teeth:

I'm thinking we should just contact Disney and have them send the Magic up to Baltimore harbor to pick up all the Maryland people. If this forum is any indication, most of the cruise will be Marylanders. :rotfl2:

I am preparing door magnets for everybody.
I just need to know your (family) favorite characters.

I think I already know everybody favourite characters, but Donna (Tia) ,John and Leilani ...
Hope I have not forgotten anybody's charcaters feel free to remind them ...

What part of MD are you from? We are moving to Clarksburg, just outside Germantown. We lived in Damascus, MD for a year (2001) and now we are going back for 2 more years. We still have not decided where we will live after DH retires. We have these 2 yrs to figure it out. We were in MD this past week looking for a house to rent. We found one, but unfortunately it has no yard. I have never seen homes that sit on a lot with about 5 feet of grass on each side. It was very different house hunting this time, last time there were hardly any homes for rent this time there were many and most have never been lived in. By the time we cruise we should be all moved in. (hopefully)

Sorry I haven't been on for awhile. My daughter actually had a few days home and we were trying to fit in a summer's worth of fun. She is back at Hershey Medical Center to do her cadaver dissection. Can you believe she is actually excited about it?!
I did as you suggested and kept getting on to check and we got a high tea and a dinner reservation at Palo.
I ordered a "Happy Birthday" door decoration from the Disney Cruise website. My DD turns 14 on August 13 so I thought it would be nice to have it there as a surprise. I know they will do a cake for her as well.
I will turn 50 on June 5 and my other DD will turn 21 on September 2. So we have a few milestones coming up.
We had some good news for Chuck. Some of you may have read he developed a nasty staph infection after a double knee replacement and needed more surgery. Well his blood cultures are coming back negative. There is still swelling and pain, but we feel like we have turned a corner. We were concerned that if they needed to go in again, it could affect our cruise plans. They were considering taking out the entire knee and cementing it with antibiotics for three months! So we are really pleased that does not seem like the plan for now. So this cruise means so much to us and we are so looking forward to it.
Tia, we are in Howard County so you are a good distance away, but you are in a very nice area. We love Maryland, ( I am a former New Yorker) but when we retire I want to go to Florida and be close to Disney. I figure our grandchildren will always want to come visit.
Hope eveyone had a great weekend!
Michelle

We live in Boyds. (The newer section, just West of Germantown.)

The housing market here has changed quite a bit in just the last year - it seems like lots of people who bought second properties as investments thinking they could flip them quickly for a profit are now all trying to get out from increasing mortgage rates and slowed appreciation. That and so many people who had interest-only loans are finding themselves over their heads, sadly.

It's a good time to be a buyer though (although prices are still crazy.)

Amazingly enough, in that "It's a small world" kind of way. So do we.

Houses in our immediate area are taking forever to sell. Mind you, it's not surprising considering what they are asking. I think they are being a tad over optimistic.

I forget who suggested the Magic should come pick all us MD people from Baltimore, but that sounds like a great idea!

Good Monday Morning! (afternoon for Laura!) :teeth:

Only 81 days....it can't come soon enough! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

And while it would be very nice to only have a 4 hour drive to Baltimore to catch the cruise ;) .......going to Florida gives me yet another excuse to visit the World! :teeth:

Michelle

I know what you went through having Jessica home for a few days. My nephew Nick was home for a week between sessions and all I did was run around. I made him go shopping for some new cloths, what an ordeal. Hope she does well with her course, Cadaver Dissection I'm sure she's ready for some hands on. (YUCKY)

I hope Chuck continues to improve and the additional surgury isn't necessary. I will continue too send "PIXIE DUST" for a speedy recovery.

So glad you were able to secure Palo reservations. What days and time did you book?

Sent you a PM

Beckie

I agree with the Magic stopping in MD, that would really help me out. Last year we took a trip down memory lane after the cruise and drove back thru Jacksonville and looked at our old house. It was weird to revisit the neighborhood. I am looking forward to moving back to MD, it is a little too "rural" here. When I first moved here I was amazed by the deer and the fox and all the other little critters that live in the woods behind our house. All of that amazement ended when a Copperhead snake found its way into my kitchen!! I'm ready to move out of the woods! :scared1:

Donna

Your a Florida Girl a Copperhead isn't as scary as a Water Moccasin or Gator.:scared1:

Have you been able to get your confirmation information from your Travel Agent yet? You need to try and make your reservations before May 29th because that's the 75 day mark for all the guest that aren't Castaway Club Members.

WELCOME, Tia /Donna and family !!!!

 It's so nice to have you all in our small group !!!
When you get a chance  would you like to tell me (here on the board or as PM ) which are your family's FAVOURITE DISNEY CHARACTERS ?
As you might have read in previous posts my DGH (who BTW isn't as Grumpy :rotfl2: as he pretends !!!) is creating a DOOR-MAGNET for each stateroom door of every family in our DISgroup ... as our  SAILAWAY SURPRISE  to each of you !!!
So we would like to know what characters you like most !!!

DGH is "working" on that ... photoshop thing... in these days ... so we can add characters ... if someone else still would love to let us know about their preferences !!! No pressure though !!!! :teeth:

CIAO to all of you !!!
