August 10, 2013 Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Fantasy

How should we split the FE?

  • Split the FE list in half (2 groups 22 - 26 staterooms)

  • Stick to the idea of a headcount (3 groups (14/15 staterroms)

I'm doing a cabin gift. I'm a planner and with the craziness of summer, it easier for me to get my FE items done early. I just estimated and hope my estimate is correct:goodvibes

That's what I did to. I am doing a stateroom gift so wanted to get started early I have 20 done

I have some cabin gifts, but I don't think I am going to personlize anything. Mostly because my dad is helping me with some of my gifts and I didn't want to stress him out.

I asked my Dad about the topless/nude beaches and he reassured me that they were clearly marked and very obvious with a giant sand dune type thing that seperates the two sides.

Good to know. I was thinking about doing the whole beach thing, but was a little scared! :-)

yellowrosedtxn, McPackers, and Jrex21 - you are all making me feel so much better. As much as I have researched fe groups, I still couldn't figure out how people make their gifts so far ahead of time! I'm a planner but want to make some personalized gifts. Was the 50 people probably an estimate and the group will probably be split by deck as originally stated? Jrex21 if it is split by deck, it looks like I will be in a group with you and your peeps. Is there a Facebook page for this group?

All I know is this is my first cruise and everyone has been very helpful to me, I hope to be helpful to others. I am excited just to be on this cruise let alone allowed to do the FE. I was starting to stress myself out on that, but now I am able to slow down a bit and take a deep breath! It helps.

That is a good idea. I have a few things done, but now I can concentrate on everything else and start putting them together to see what I actually have.

I appreciate the help but have a few more questions if you don't mind. If the group is broken down by deck, how are you estimating how many cabins? Right now, there are only 6 cabins listed on my deck. Why are you estimating 20 cabins? Do a lot of people sign up close to the deadline? Do you think the list will be cut in half and not just by deck?

Thanks for your patience.

Groups will not be broken down by individual decks, but decks close together (think 12, 10, 9) will be grouped together.
There will be "around" 50 people per group. So there should be around 15 staterooms per group.
If you plan for 20 you should be in the clear. :thumbsup2

And from experience - a lot of people sign up closer to the saildate, even after the cut off date.

I'm not on the detailed fe list. Do it just take a while for things to be updated?

Our town experienced a centennial flood (maybe you saw it on the news - cities in Germany, Austria were heavily damaged) and I have not been able to update, or be online much, so that list is not up to date.
I do keep my masterlist and you are on that one. Will take me some time to catch up and then it will be posted.

Haha hubby wants to know if there are any newfies on the cruise? He's jealous of the kids and I making new friends and feels left out!

So sorry to hear that. Hope you and yours are well. I want to make some personalized gifts and thought if everybody listed on my deck is in my group, I could at least get started on theirs. Good luck with everything you are having to deal with. Sounds like you'll definitely need this vacation.

Oh goodness! You take care ... sending pixie dust!

I saw that Central Europe was having flooding. Hope you stay safe and dry.

Hello! My family and I (Hubby, Daughter age 7 and Son age 4) are excited to be going on the Fantasy this summer on August 10th. This is our second Disney Cruise, as we cruised last year on the Magic from NYC to Canada. It is special because this is our 10 year Anniversary. We are excited to get to know others and enjoy cruising with all of you! I'm sort of interested in hearing more about the Fish Extenders, as we didn't know about them on our first cruise.

Thanks!

Hi - So we are traveling with our daughter (7) and son (4) and we noticed that a lot of the excursions are 5yrs +. We were wondering what are some good kid friendly excursions to do with the whole family and if they are really strict on the 5 year old cut off.

Thanks!

Hello everyone, my family and I will be making this our second Disney cruise. My DD was only 8 months old the last time, so she is really excited for a Disney cruise she can remember, LOL. My eldest won't be with us this time, but the rest of us can hardly wait!

Welcome! Dizneeat (Karin) usually welcomes everyone but they have been having terrible weather in Austria. I am sure when she gets things taken care of she will welcome you to the boards.

This is my first cruise, and the first time doing the FE's. There are several facebook groups that discuss the fish extenders. Here are some of the links:

http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/158124314345285/
http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/167311023398247/
http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/512087638849143/

This is a graphics page: http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/530433526987331/

In these groups you can find out a LOT of information on fish extenders as well as magnets for your doors.

Here is the facebook group for our cruise: http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/239418719534163/247770158699019/?notif_t=group_comment_reply

I hope some of this helps. If you want to join the fish extender group (from here) then make sure you leave your name, the ages of your kids, and your room number to Karin can add you to the list.

Anyway, WELCOME to the fun! :)

The cruise line has everyone's date of birth and excursions will only 'unlock' and allow you to book for those meeting the age requirements. HTH

Welcome to the cruise!!

Jump right in! We don't bite! If you are interested in the Fish Extender, the very first post in this thread has some really useful links about what it is and what to do etc. If you have any other questions, someone here can help answer them! Once Karin gets access to her computer again, she will update the Fish Extender list with your information on it!

The cutoff date to sign up for the Fish Extender is June 30th and then the list will be split and posted!

As far as excursions for little ones go, most of them have age limits. My oldest will be 3 and my youngest 5 months.. so we will probably go with Bernard's tours and something else, not through Disney though.

Hi Everyone:wave2: we are first timers on the DCL, I'm bringing my 12 yr old son Willis on his very first cruise. He is so excited :yay:. I've been on other cruise ships but this is our first DCL. We are from Los Angeles.
