August 10, 2013 Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Fantasy

How should we split the FE?

  • Split the FE list in half (2 groups 22 - 26 staterooms)

  • Stick to the idea of a headcount (3 groups (14/15 staterroms)

DIZNEEAT: Yes! Same gal! My girls are much taller now! Not traveling with Tags this time, but friends from church. You will have to stop by say hi if you see us - it would be lovely to see you again!

I definitely will say hello! That Tag cruise started it all for us. :thumbsup2

:worried:
I was reading the descriptions of the beach days at St. Maarten and St. Thomas and both put a disclaimer of possible nudity or topless beach goers. Has anyone encountered this before I sign up for this excursion????:(

;)just finished online booking...its getting closer!!!!

Once you have booked your excursions and done online check in it feels so much more real, doesn't it. ;) Congrats on doing yours.

I am sorry, but I won't be any help with your beach question, as these will be the first Fantasy cruises for us and the ports are new to us too. :confused3

In Europe topless is common but not exclusive, nudist areas will be clearly signposted I'm sure. I wouldn't get too hung up about it, let's face it all of our kids have seen "b00bies" around our own homes from time to time. I think the best thing to do if they're old enough is just educate them to the fact that different things are acceptable within different countries & cultures

Orient Beach is generally known as the one where half of the beach is clothing optional. There may be a few "tan-line-free" folks here and there, but is not usually seen everywhere.

KJansen- It's pretty amazing to be in the water with them. We had a few people (including my best friend) that were very afraid of the stingrays and they all warmed up to them within a few minutes. As far as the snorkeling part goes, you can snorkel around if you want to. My sister and I went out pretty far to see the bigger ones that were either swimming around or buried in the sand. DH and my bestie hung out in the shallows and relaxed in the waves. Sometimes little "schools" of stingrays would swim by them, but they didn't snorkel for very long. The snorkeling part is pretty easy if you haven't done it before. I think if I remember right you have a life vest on, which if you inflate a little bit it will help you float along, so you just breathe normally and kick your feet where you want to go.

I'll try to find a few pictures of us with stingrays in Cayman etc. I didn't take any pictures at Castaway Cay because I was busy looking for them... :rolleyes1
Thank you SO much for all the stingray info! I wasn't sure about it when our travel agent signed us up for it, but the more you tell me about it, the more fun it sounds. I appreciate the details :).
It's already June...we will be on the Fantasy before we know it!!

Hi!

We just booked this cruise! Thought why not start a cruise thread to count down to our summer 2013 vacation! :thumbsup2

We, that are my dear brother, Tom, who works for the Austrian Postal Services and LOVES everything Disney and myself, Karin, a teacher at a small Austrian village.
Before we took our first cruise we were sure that this would be a one time thing, but like everything else at Disney, the service was so outstanding that this will be cruise no 10 in 5
seasons! :lmao:

Looking forward to get to know many of our fellow cruisers! :flower3:

I would also like to host a Fish Extender Exchange. We have done it every cruise, it is SO much fun and I hope many of you will join in.

:rainbow: Important news for FE participants! :rainbow:

Our list is constantly growing, so we have decided that once we reach our cut off date, which will be June 30th, we will divide the group into smaller groups. This should work like this ......

Groups will have around 50 people in it (adults AND children)
Groups will be divided by decks (to save on running around)
If you want to be in more than 1 group please just let me know, so I can put you on all/1 other list.
Hope this is in everyones interest! :thumbsup2

Detailed FE list

Here is some info .......

:boat: Lots about Fish Extenders :boat: Fish Extender 101
Fish Extender Info

So, do you want to join our Fish Extender Exchange?

I would love to join FE! First Disney cruise for our family.
Husband Joe, daughter Gigi 10 yr old and son Nicco 16 yr old. We are staying in stateroom 8128.

Karin!

My grandparents want to sign up for the FE. Their names are Diane and Jim. Their stateroom is a GTY so they don't have a cabin number yet, but Grandma has been practically stalking her mailman waiting for more Disney mail! I've never done GTY so I don't know too much about it, but does anyone have any guesses on when they will find out their assignment?

I am SUCH a SLACKER... I haven't even checked in online yet.. I really need to get on that..:rolleyes1

DINNER TIME!:cool1::yay::dance3:

Is there a deadline for the final FE list? I'm trying to put the finishing touches on the gifts and want to make sure I have enough .

:cool1:We FINALLY got our cruise booked and I would love to join the fe. I am Lisa, DH Jay, MIL Lou, and DD Jenn (24) stateroom 10132.

I saw that the deadline is June 30. I also saw there will be about 50 people in each group and participants will be grouped by deck. How are you about finished with your gifts? Did you estimate based on deck numbers? I would like to make some personalized gifts but want to make sure who is in my group first.

Hi Lisa! Welcome to the boards! Some people are doing stateroom gifts verses individual ones. That could be a way to almost being done. I have such a variety of ideas/gifts that I am preparing for our "group" and then doing some gifts for the late comers.

I JUST realized that it is June and the end of June is getting closer! I need to work on my FE as well as finish the gifts! OH MY GOODNESS! It is getting CLOSER!!! YEA!!!

Hey everybody! Just wanted to check in for this cruise. We will be leaving for our honeymoon to Disney on August 6th and then going on this cruise. I can't wait! My fiancee has only been to the Magic Kingdom when she was younger, and one trip involved the entire family getting sick. The other trip was with her childhood and it rained when they were there. I think I've read about or went to a Disney site every day since we booked the trip earlier this year.

I'm looking forward to meeting a bunch of people on the cruise as we party the week away!:joker:

I'm doing a cabin gift. I'm a planner and with the craziness of summer, it easier for me to get my FE items done early. I just estimated and hope my estimate is correct:goodvibes

I haven't even started on FE gifts and probably won't until I know who is on my list. I like to do personalized gifts for the little ones and something else for the adults.

I asked my Dad about the topless/nude beaches and he reassured me that they were clearly marked and very obvious with a giant sand dune type thing that seperates the two sides.

Online check in and booking transfers today! WOOHOO! :cool1:pirate:

yellowrosedtxn, McPackers, and Jrex21 - you are all making me feel so much better. As much as I have researched fe groups, I still couldn't figure out how people make their gifts so far ahead of time! I'm a planner but want to make some personalized gifts. Was the 50 people probably an estimate and the group will probably be split by deck as originally stated? Jrex21 if it is split by deck, it looks like I will be in a group with you and your peeps. Is there a Facebook page for this group?
