August 10, 2012 Disney Dream

How does Disney decide when you get to board the ship? Other than VIPs, castaway members, etc, is it in order of when you sign up to arrive/check in? or does your check in time have anything to do with your boarding time?

I don't want to check in early if it just means I get to sit in the terminal with 3 bored chldren for an extra 2-3 hours, know what I mean?

When you check in you're given a boarding number and you board based on that number. There is plenty to do in the terminal and my kids weren't nearly as bored as I feared! You can register them for the kids club while you wait so they're all set up when you board, there are TVs set up with cartoons on, coloring pages and crayons, and a million other kids to play with :) Boarding went pretty quickly/smoothly.

ok, so I am excited, but am starting to stress about getting everything done. We are going to summer camp (I work as a camp nurse) so I lose over a week between now and leaving. Besides, honestly, I need to get in my darn 10th post because I keep getting blocked from trying to do things here because I haven't posted yet.

I have seen so many good FE ideas that I wish my cruise was a year away so I could do all of them! Guess I'll just have to book another cruise when I'm onboard, right?

This is our 5th Disney Cruise and we have never had to wait longer than an hour after check in. The key is to get to the terminal around your scheduled arrival time. Disney started this after they included the DREAM into their fleet. Since it holds almost double the occupancy they did not want to have everyone showing up at the terminal at the same time causing a major bottleneck. In may we showed up at our scheduled time and within 25 minutes we were walking onto the ship!!

Also there are televisions set up throughout the terminal with older cartoons playing... and there are photo ops with cruise adorned Mickey and Minnie as well!!

I am so ready to get this vacation started!!!

travel seeker, DS8's name is Dante - I just added it to the spreadsheet, hope that's ok.
Getting excited! Now have to go double-check the list of FE folks to make sure I have enough gifts. :)
Have requested to join the Facebook group. Wow, I sure missed a lot the past while - working on the FE gifts builds fun anticipation.

Who all is celebrating birthdays (or anniversary, or something else special!) on this cruise? I tried making a list but got confused between this board and Facebook and the FE list :)

My niece, Lea, will be celebrating her 6th birthday (just a few days before the cruise), and my DH John will be celebrating his 45th birthday on August 10th...so don't forget to embarrass him at the meet and greet! :lmao:
