~ Aug 2013~ Sew what... We've gotta find a way back! Part I!!

I do much the same as you. Only now I take disinfectant wipes to clean the drawers before putting my clothes in them since I read on the DIS that people use the dresser drawers for their dirty laundry!!!:scared1::scared1: Just sayin'.:rolleyes1

yes totally agree so second nature to me I forgot to mention it Clorox my middle name I wipedown everything when I get there all surfaces doorknobs remote phone etc takes just few minutes then I pretend no one ever stayed in this room before makes me feel better

Chiara congratulations when is your baby due sorry I missed this news

And I live in our suitcases because I am afraid to put my stuff in the drawers... I guess Clorox wipes would do the trick for that, wouldn't they?

But then, I fear I'd forget everything... Sigh... Better just keep everything in the suitcases.

Thank you. I am due around June 20th

I think Alli will be slightly disappointed when she finds out that all of the "hot guys" are 6 y/o. :rotfl2:

Hmm. After hearing that, I'm sure my DGD (who's turning 5 during the trip) would be disappointed that we're not staying at POR.

On the other hand, I'm sure her Grandpa would be relieved we not staying there.

D~, the more I see your calendar quoted the more I wish I had photoshop!

Just don't forget the suitcase! We did that last stay. oops.

We live out of the suitcase too.

I don't put anything in the drawers, and from listening to other people it's scarry what people do put in the drawers. I cringe when JJ puts his toys in a drawer. Usually he has a little case he carries them in. I'm ok with the closed case going in a drawer if he has to.

D, I couldn't find the walking distance post but check out the port Orleans riverside thread in the resort forums.

... IMHO When I have settled into a resort its now home never have done split stay

Me too! When we're at our Disney Home, we're at home. We unpack and use the drawers (although I may start taking those wipes or some lysol, just in case) and hang stuff up.

The mini planner idea is very cool. I may have to do this for the mega 2014 trip. Which I have started planning. Well, the dream stage, anyway...if money and time were no issue.

Speaking of the mini planner...I have a pair of those haunted mansion ears. They were my very first pair of ears, purchased at DH's insistance because I had never had a pair of ears as a child. He'd had several and now his head is to big they'd never sit right.

I have 4 of those little misting fans from our July trip. I only used them one day (AK day because it is so hot in that park). I can bring them with me to MOA this summer if you want.

Another option instead of putting you stuff in the drawers is the hanging sweater organizers. I was concerned with the lack of storage at FQ vs the Poly, so I brought one of those and it worked awesome. It had 8 "shelves" and I put 2 outfits in each shelf. Then used the suitcases for the dirty clothes. By the end of the trip I was all packed and ready to go.

If the girls are looking forward to the "hot guys" ... I sure hope there aren't any Brazilian tour groups there. Poor D will never get anything done! There were some cuties there in July :)

I'm not even going to try and get all caught up here :rotfl2: way too much chatter while I was gone.

happy you booked your trip and the girls are so excited for the "hot guys resort" :rotfl:
love your mini planner...wish I wasn't so computer challenged to make one for us!

we did a split stay march 2011 trip and the moving part was easy...packed up called bell services, jumped on the bus from POP to AK, then bus to AKL and checked in right away...were in our room about 20 minutes when our bags showed up! wasn't FD though and did have to buy a one day park ticket since we were on the dining plan....while it was easy, not sure I'd do it again

YEA for making a decision!! :woohoo::woohoo: August was the wisest decision with the girls getting older, IMHO. Missing school becomes harder and harder and a this gives you more time to slow down and really enjoy.

I know... It's just so hard to take them out of school. In the end, I am much more comfortable with my decision (I think Josh is too).

[I posted a lot of heat surviving ideas over on LovethatTinks thread, Lisa and David both have Dysautonomia/Autonomic Issues. And then after I answered her I thought of a few more things we do and posted on our TR. Heat is a bear, but doable...with planning and a LOT of breaks for us.

I so appreciate all of your suggestions! I am sure we will use most of them. I really think I will splurge this year and do a garden grocer order - this is not something I'd normally do, but I am not sure how else to get Gatorade down there... Then, as long as I am at it, I can order some fruit too - since I know there is a minimum order.

You had me laughing so hard at the 6 year old hot guys comment!!

Glad I could give you a chuckle.

Yes, I take the wash cloths from the room...dont tell the management!!! So every day is a fresh cloth.

OK - Good, that's what I was thinking of doing too.

I found the fans on the same shelf as the bigger misting fans. They were sort of lost among all the bigger ones, but I rooted around and found two. This was two or three years ago. I did see some last year at the beginning of the season, so I think they still carry them. But I also think they go quickly, so I'd start looking pretty soon.

I will look for them the next time I go... Although Suzi said she would bring her's for me???

Here are a couple of websites with instructions on how to make those cool ties for your neck:

http://www.p2designs.com/ShipCooler.htm
http://www.watersorb.com/polymer_cool_neck_bands.htm

Thanks so much - I have bookmarked them for later reading. :thumbsup2

Hey, why don't you create a version of your UPB with the strap being one of those cool ties in disguise. You can make it detachable so you don't have to have a wet strap when you don't need it. Okay, so I'm kidding. Sort of. Probably.

Interesting...

Hope you get a lot done today in your sewing room. I'm doing laundry and cleaning house...I'd MUCH rather be sewing!!!!

I did get a lot done!

Ha ha I am slowing down but I am usually so much on the go that people don't notice.

LOL I have a feeling you are like a blur to most people. :upsidedow

hey whatever works right ? I readily admit I am OCD in some areas of
my like Black ink check register for deposits Red for withdrawals yes I KNOW but works for me & every boss I ever had loves the detail oriented quirky side of me

I admit I am very OCD in portions of my life too... I love the idea of 2 different inks - I always do mine in pencil, Lord knows I've had to erase more times than I care to admit. :scared:

Thank you. I am due around June 20th

:goodvibes

Hmm. After hearing that, I'm sure my DGD (who's turning 5 during the trip) would be disappointed that we're not staying at POR.

LOL - Just don't tell her. :thumbsup2

On the other hand, I'm sure her Grandpa would be relieved we not staying there.

LOL

D~, the more I see your calendar quoted the more I wish I had photoshop!

Thanks! I love making them - I wish I had the time to make them for everyone - but that would be crazy! :crazy2:

Just don't forget the suitcase! We did that last stay. oops.

OMG!!! ROFL - I totally would do that.

We live out of the suitcase too.

OK, good, I was starting to think there was something seriously wrong with me.

I don't put anything in the drawers, and from listening to other people it's scarry what people do put in the drawers. I cringe when JJ puts his toys in a drawer. Usually he has a little case he carries them in. I'm ok with the closed case going in a drawer if he has to.

Totally get that. :scared:

D, I couldn't find the walking distance post but check out the port Orleans riverside thread in the resort forums.

I saw that you posted the question in that thread, but no one answered you... I was going to quote you and ask the same thing, but then I lost it... I will see if I can find it again to help you (help me) out. :rotfl2:

Me too! When we're at our Disney Home, we're at home. We unpack and use the drawers (although I may start taking those wipes or some lysol, just in case) and hang stuff up.

I wish I could do this... But I just have a fear that we will forget something. :crazy2:

Thank you - it wasn't my idea originally - but I know a lot of people have seen mine and done their own because of it... And everyone that has done one loves it. I am not sure I could do Disney with out it - especially for our meals - I would have been lost.

Speaking of the mini planner...I have a pair of those haunted mansion ears. They were my very first pair of ears, purchased at DH's insistance because I had never had a pair of ears as a child. He'd had several and now his head is to big they'd never sit right.

LOL... Poor guy! We always bring all of our ears with - you never know when the mood is going to strike. When we went last time, I coudln't believe how many sets of ears we had - and we only purchased one pair while we were down there - Alli's glittery Minnie ears, which are adorable! I wish they had them in Donald... Sigh.

I have 4 of those little misting fans from our July trip. I only used them one day (AK day because it is so hot in that park). I can bring them with me to MOA this summer if you want.

That would be uber awesome! I'd gladly give you something for them. :thumbsup2

Great... Now I am going to have nightmares... I pray - and pray hard that the Brazillian men will try to stay away from the Royal Rooms. :scared:

I'm not even going to try and get all caught up here :rotfl2: way too much chatter while I was gone.

Glad to have you back Lisa!

happy you booked your trip and the girls are so excited for the "hot guys resort"

After all this "hot guys" talk... I am starting to believe it, and somewhat looking forward to the masses of hot guys that are going to be there. :beach:

love your mini planner...wish I wasn't so computer challenged to make one for us!

I think you should make one with real scrapbook paper - I bet it would be much more adorable! Then when you are done, you can pull the pages out and use them in your actual scrapbook. :thumbsup2 Because I know that you don't have enough to do already. LOL :rotfl2:

we did a split stay march 2011 trip and the moving part was easy...packed up called bell services, jumped on the bus from POP to AK, then bus to AKL and checked in right away...were in our room about 20 minutes when our bags showed up! wasn't FD though and did have to buy a one day park ticket since we were on the dining plan....while it was easy, not sure I'd do it again

I have heard that Disney does make it easy... But part of my problem is having 2 seperate sets of tickets and 2 seperate sets of dining - I would have to make sure that both are used up before we switch, and that's the most difficult part. With the way our plans are, it would make the most sense to only have to buy the WPF&M passes for one set of tickets, however, that wouldn't work... So, I think we will just be staying at POR for the entire trip. Which is OK with me, I am looking forward to it.

**********************************************************

I holded up in my sewing room all day yesterday... I managed to start and finish my applique for this bag - it turned out really cute. I am going to start final assembly today.... I forgot about the wallet - so I need to make that yet. Oops!

I also did a bit more detailed planning, trying to figure out if we can manage a split stay... Unfortunately - I don't think it is going to work out for us this time.

I do have a couple of dillemas I'd like to bounce off of you all regarding our ADRs...

This is what we have planned so far:

2 breakfasts at Tusker House (because we love breakfast there)
1 early breakfast at Crystal Palace
1 late lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern
1 late breakfast at O'hana (on one of our days off)
1 lunch or dinner at Sci-fi
1 lunch at France
1 early breakfast at Cindy's Royal Table
1 dinner at BoG

So, this leaves us one more meal... And we are not even sure about dinner at BoG - we might end up doing lunch there.

We have one more day off where we have no ADRs planned as of now... I am wondering if we want to keep it that way - and truly have a day off? The only reason I say this, is last time, on our day off - I felt like we had to cut DTD really short, because of our dinner ADR - and it kind of sucked. We had to rush though our day so that we made it to the Poly on time, so it really didn't feel like a day off at all.

I could make a dinner ADR at Boatright's - then we wouldn't have to worry about traveling anywhere... But I hate to waste a dinner ADR there, when we could go somewhere uber fun - like Chef Mickey's (which we have never done before).

Or instead of dinner this day, we could do a later breakfast? So, take our time getting up... Then head to CM's or something for a late breakfast... Then spend our day off doing whatever - and we won't have to worry about going somewhere for dinner???

Or, we could just have no ADRs at all that day, and put another dinner somewhere on one of our park days? Then we would really have no commitments on our day off (which I am sort of leaning towards)...

What would you all do?

Right now, our schedule is: 6.5 park days + 2 water park days + 2 days off.

Thanks for any and all input you give - it really does help me a lot!

*****************

Alrighty... Must get on with my day... I hope you all have a wonderful one!

D~

For the past 10 trips, our day off has been Chef Mickey's. This year I am thinking of making it a breakfast instead of dinner....that way, once we are through, we have the complete day to do with as we want...without any place we 'have' to be at a certain time.

I have made the dinner ADR early (right at 5, the great part about that is we were chosen as family of the day and got to open up the restaurant being escorted by none other than Mickey himself!) and late (I think it was at 8:30...we were really tired waiting for the time to eat) and a couple of times in the middle at 7.

For us, it depends on exactly what you have planned for your day off...we will be spending it looking at the decorations at all the resorts, and doing a bit of shopping a t DTD.

Nini

I like your idea of either a late breakfast or no ADR at all. If it's a breakfast, you will get it over with and have the rest of the day to do whatever you feel like. As for Chef Mickeys, go! We had breakfast there is 2010 and it was really good and a whole lot of fun!

Did I read that right ?
:faint::faint::faint::faint::faint::faint:

This has been a Public Outcry from......

Luv Chef Mic

just sayin.......

hear you on the ticket issue...I made a mark on which one I had to use so I ddin't mix them up...wasn't hard!
be careful "watching" the hot guys LOL

doing what you do with the computer in a scrapbook fashion would be tough, lots of paperpiecings which take lots of time. I just do a large master sheet and then bring 3x5 index cards with the days info in my purse, nothing fancy but it works for me :thumbsup2

Well who knew that all of the hot guys stay at POR? lol Split stays really involve a lot (2 plans, key switches, packing, unpacking) it is definitely something to think about. I love your calendar! You did a really great job with it. On our August trip in 2011, I made those little mini photo album planners for everyone, and they were a huge hit!

Glad you got a lot done in your sewing room yesterday. I got a lot of housework done, which I really needed to do! Sewing is a lot more fun for sure!!

I like what you have so far for possible ADRs. I vote for breakfast at Chef Mickey. A later breakfast would probably be just the thing. Then you can head to DTD or back to your resort or do whatever the heck you want. Another choice would be to get an ADR in DTD if that's where you think you'll be that day. We like Raglan Road and WGPuck really well. It's so hard to decide when it's so far away, isn't it? And don't tell LuvChefMickey, but I've never eaten there either! I tend to stick to ones I love instead of trying new ones. But I plan to try at least two new ones every time we go, so CM is on my short list.

Have a great day!

I heard that Lois

:listen:

Put it on top of list :-)

I've never been to Chef Mickey's either, but we are planning on doing a late breakfast there on the next trip. I like to try different restaurants each time we go and the only one that we've done more than once for dinner is Boatwrights - just because its convenient on our "easy" day.

Have you ever done the Hoop Dee Doo Revue? That is a ton of fun, but it does take 2 TS. Hokey, but lots of fun anyway.

I know what you can give me for my mini fans.....a ride from the airport in May! Done deal :)

How about for your "day off" you guys try a quick serve at a hotel you haven't tried. Either lunch or dinner. Captain Cooks at the Poly is awesome. And I've heard great things about Roaring Forks' sandwiches and salads. Or Pop or AoA food courts. It would be fun to tour around a new resort and not have an ADR to meet.
