Aug 10th, 2008 4-days on the Wonder

I tried starting a thread a few months ago, but no responses....
Glad to see responses to this one.

We booked this cruise last July, so we're more than ready!
It's my bride, our son (6) and myself. We're celebrating out 15th anniversary this cruise.

Our son recently talked us into spending a day at MK on the way back (gosh...he hasn't been there for two whole years!... We have 6 days left on our 10 day passes, so what the heck...) I had a difficult time finding anything at a Disney resort. We always stay at POFQ, but are ending up at the CBR for two nights after the cruise.

We still don't have our cruise documents. Should I be worried?

How do we identify one another as DisBoards members? We will all probably just walk by each other without even saying "hi"
Is there any official/unofficial meet up?

We are spending the day at MK at staying at POFQ on 8/9. That is for me, so I get my Theme Park fix for the day. I want to see Wishes!

I don't think there is any meet up for this cruise. If you want to put something up, that would be great! We have the early dining seating.

I would think your cruise documents are on their way. We went through a local TA, but wish I'd have gone through Dreams Unlimited (won't make that mistake again). I went and picked up our luggage tags, but I had our reservation number, so I actually went on the disney cruiseline website and filled out all of our paperwork. Now, I just have to print it out.

I thought I had done all of my research until I recently found this website and realized all the hours of research was for nothing. I still don't understand all of it though. I also booked through a TA and I am guessing why I still haven't received my documents either. We were looking at possibly booking another cruise for next year. What would be my best bet: booking on the cruise or with Dream Unlimited?

Also, we are also going on the 9th to go to the MK and staying at POF and then staying Thurs-Sat.

I keep reading that to get the best deal, it is best to rebook on board and then if you want transfer the reservation to somebody like DU. That is what I plan to do if we rebook.

The local TA we used did not even offer an on board credit and she has been virtually useless in planning.

Least I digress!!! Back to the topic of fun on the Wonder!!

Are there any single parents who will be on this cruise? Does anyone know if it's possible to meet other "mature" singles (older than the 20s and 30s set) on these cruises?

I'll be the only single member of my family's party and am looking forward to some alone time as well as meeting other singles in my age range.

I called our TA yesterday at AAA. She had just received our documents, so I went over and picked them up.

We did not get an upgrade, but that's fine with me.

You people who are going to WDW first are very brave. I didn't want to be too tired for our cruise, so we're stopping by WDW after the cruise. I hope you have a "down day" built in between WDW and the cruise

We (me, DH & DD10) will also be on the Wonder Aug. 10. We are staying at AKL for 4 nights before the cruise. I can't wait! It is almost time to start packing.

My family & I (dw, ds 11, dd3, ds16mths) are also on this cruise. Along with my MIL. She says she gets to be the nanny for a week!!! We too had to schedule Disney in as well. We're from PA and we can't stand traveling the whole way to Florida and not going to the parks!!! We decided to do POFQ on 8/9 and then again from thurs to sun after the cruise ... MIL loves it at POFQ.

Sounds like we've got a full ship ... can't wait for the "wonder"ful trip to begin ... 9 days!!!!

I will be on this cruise with DM76 and DD15. DCL cruise #5 for DD and I, DM is first timer (it's never too late!). Leaving DH this time. We are at AKL for 3 days priors - cannot wait to spend my birthday on the beach at CC

We decided to do POFQ on 8/9 and then again from thurs to sun after the cruise ... MIL loves it at POFQ.

We love the POFQ too! But we couldn't get a room there since we just decided a couple of weeks ago to spend a couple of nights at WDW after the cruise (request of DS 6).

That makes two of us! This will be our first cruise also. With all the info from friends and DIS, it sounds like a blast!! Really looking forward to it. DD has been to Disneyland, but I wanted to make the WDW trip extra special for her. Will be staying at Swan and playing AT WDW from the 7th until the cruise. As for Singles activities, I've heard they have Single Mingles and wine tastings ect. Could be interesting? I think they will make it fun for all.

I agree. These message boards have been the best things for getting prepared. I feel like I've already been on the cruise because everyone's been so generous sharing details of their experiences.

The count down has begun...only around a week away! Are you and your daughter getting dressed up as pirates for the theme night? Is anyone else? My family is.

Yes, there seem to be a few singles meet 'n greets based on the previous Personal Navigators I've scoured. Sounds like fun.

How are you getting to Port Canaveral? Are you driving or taking a Disney shuttle? If the latter, does it pick you up from the hotel or do you have to get yourself to the airport first?

We will be with you all there next week also! This is our 2nd time on the Wonder. Took the kids last year but DH & I decided to take a vaca just the 2 of us this year. We all had a blast last year, so needless to say, the kids are NOT happy that we are going without them! We decided to spend some time at WDW after the cruise this time so we are going to spend 4 days at the Swan after. DH has been packing for a week already! It will be nice to get out of Vegas! Glad to meet a few fellow cruisers!

LET THE PACKING BEGIN!!!!

I'm excited, so much as I can hardly contain myself. We book Feb of '07 for June "08 and had to change to Aug. We knew that we wanted to do the CC double dip. The fam. is excited too. Last night we went to the mall to get my daughter's ears pierced and ended up in a dress store and I bought a formal dress for $30!!!!! It will be my birthday the first night on the cruise.

We leave for WDW on the 7th. My fourth trip to the World this year. We only plan on doing Disney Studios park and relax after a crazy summer.
